I played RDR1.... I did not like RDR2

RDR2's beginning is sluggish, a bit of a bore and a grind, the missions I did not like... constantly losing saves from lack of automatic save, the controls felt slow, the actors were kinda annoying sometimes making fun of Arthur, etc. going into and out of buildings felt awkward, etc.

RDR1 is a REAL Western. Things are kinda fast paced, my character moves the way the way I want it to move, and opening act pushes you right into the action and is fun!

Stupid question: which series has the best suits/tailoring?

I noticed The Sandbaggers has pretty good suits. Everything looks super nice and Savile Row. Any series in your opinion has the best tailoring?

Is the reason why there are so few Civil War films is because of the cost staging battles today is way higher than before?

Obviously, reenacters today are quite old and fat from the Civil War reenactments I have seen. If you wanted 2k reenacters it would probably cost too much. Any idea of Civil War tv series or studios that wanted to make a Civil War film but can't do it because of budget?

Stupid question: Enderby suit is really nice, why?

I noticed that everyone when walking into Saul Enderby's office in Smiley's People have... like... poorer??? fitting suits than Saul. Saul's suit is really nice. And looks super expensive. Is that just me?

Would the Union have won the Civil War much faster if it had used conscription from the start?

I’ve been reading about the Union’s manpower problems during the Civil War, especially the use of short-term enlistments like the 90-day and 9-month regiments. Some of these units performed very well — for example, several Vermont 9-month regiments played an important role at Gettysburg — but then their enlistments expired soon after.

It made me wonder: was the Union’s volunteer-first manpower system one of the reasons the war dragged on?

Hypothetically, if the federal government had instituted conscription immediately in 1861 for the duration of the war, instead of relying so heavily on short-term volunteers, would the Union likely have won significantly faster?

Or would early conscription have caused so much political backlash, resistance, desertion, and administrative chaos that it might not have helped much?

Bedtime stories for women?

I noticed whenever I give my girl a bedtime story she suddenly starts sleeping. The problem is all the bedtime stories I have are random stories of my life. I have run out of bedtime stories.

Where should I find more?

If she doesn't get a bedtime story she won't go to sleep and will start overthinking.

Carabao Beer

I really like the lager and dark malt. Is there anything else that is dark and is malty in Thailand that does not taste bad like the other mainstream beers?

I saw the Phuket Island beer. Is it any good?

I enjoyed Outlaws. But the with Ubi+ sub I tried out the last 5 AC games. They are all terrible.

Mirage -- world feels empty and even the clothes are totally historically inaccurate. Due is wearing jeans in the 9th century AD.

Syndicate - The story is not very good. I don't really get it.

Unity - the movement feels so clunky. I hate it.

Shadows - Dude is doing ninja as a 6'6 guy in Japan, also story is pretty lame

Odyssey - I really wanted to enjoy it at first, but the idea of a non-historical Greece and just button smashing things is kinda boring

Valhalla -- no comment... just looks boring and felt boring

I really enjoyed AC Brotherhood and AC 2 + 1. Revelations is probably my fav game of all time. I LOVED the story. It was very intriguing! But these recent games are so lame.

However Outlaws gets a 9.5/10 for me. I love Star Wars (the original trilogy) and enjoyed the space combat. But, once you finish the game that's pretty much all there is. I wish there was a sequel.

The clothes in AC Mirage are totally wrong! As someone who visited al-Anbar and read a lot about it and asked friends from there

I don't know if anyone has commented on this, but as someone who was trying to play Mirage after completing Star Wars Outlaws...

Essentially, in a lot of the areas outside of Bagdad, from that area west (Deir-ez-Zor) to the far south like Basra, Arab people, Beduion people wore things like:

The abaya, the long black (or could be a different color) garment. Sometimes had gold or other kinda distinctive things sown into it. For women.

The sirwāl which in the time of AC Mirage was way more baggy than what you find in Google images when you type it in. Workmen and others would wear this. People who had to do the kind of blue-collar jobs that peopel who wore Abayas did not have to do.

The thawb, kinda like an abaya but for men.

And there's a lot of other stuff too you could wear. Plus, traditional Arab clothes of that period were very, very colorful. And women would wear lots of cool headdresses with pieces of bronze, copper, even silver and gold ordaining their headwraps and coverings.

Then there's the tattoos, especially the tribal tattoos. Which was VERY common in the time period. And the evil eye decorations people wore all the time, and all sorts of tribal-related stuff people wore or thought about.

I mean I could go on and on, but Anfal doesn't feel like the Anfal I felt went I did tours of the area. And this ignores all the other stuff, probably the biggest one...

At night, people sleep on the top (on the roof) of their buildings. There's no AC and even in areas where they do have modern AC, a lot of people still sleep on top of their houses, on the roof. And with big blankets because it can get very cold at night.

Or how the most common person walking the street would be food sellers, selling tea (not traditional tea of today but herbal teas), fast food, all sorts of things.

I was playing AC Mirage and I just felt it was very off-putting.

Maybe after playing Kingdom Come Deliverance it's very hard for me to "enjoy" an RPG set in a historical period unless it's super period accurate.

Hypothetically, if a German moved to another country, like France, and returned to Germany during the occupation of 1918/1919, would that count as beating the pre-1914 rule?

Getting birth record from Slovakia (Hungarian citizen in the late 1880s)

I have requested one 3 months ago, just paid for it, and apparently it's in processing. Does anyone know when it might actually arrive?

I was lied to

I watched all those stupid 10+ hour anti-Outlaws videos on Youtube claiming it was woke.

Actually, I am loving the game. Plus having a female lead character makes it feel like Tomb Raider but in Star Wars. I really enjoy it. It's a fun game. I am happy I got it on discount too. But, for all those haters out there who claim everything is woke and stuff, man you are soooo wrong.

Experiences with the Hungarian Embassy in Bangkok?

I am preparing my simplified naturalization passport application but getting in contact with the Bangkok Embassy has been a bit difficult. Should I go to another embassy in another country instead?

Mortal Kombat 11 Online Issues

My internet connection is fine. The videos from the game play in a completely screwed up state -- they turn green.

Also, online, my games keep disconnecting.

Anyone having the same issues with MK11 with Crossover?

Used to have access to MS Research before leaving it, but miss it. Any ways to get access or see reports from it (paid?)

I used to be a client of Morgan Stanley Private Bank. Due to extremely low returns and highly questionable management stuff (wash trading to increase fees) I left... but damn do I miss their research portal.

I know they hire their own people, but I guess that kinda of reporting, big macro stuff, big ideas (I found out about space data centers in 2021 from them) is around somewhere?

Any ideas on how to get the "cool ideas" research?

Thank you Codex for saving me. I am so tired and Codex really helps me out and gets things done faster. Was exhausted using Claude and just building. I finally tried Codex and it's like night and day.

I was very surprised that this game was so smooth on my m1. Some games stutter pretty badly but it was quite easy going. Very happy with Crossover. Fun game too!
