​I am from South India, and my boyfriend is from North India. He is adamant that we must live in the Delhi NCR region. I have visited NCR a few times, and I honestly just don’t like the vibe; I struggle to feel safe or comfortable there. I prefer cities like Pune, Bengaluru, or Mysuru, which offer better access to nature and a lifestyle that aligns with my needs.

​I’ve told him I am open to staying in NCR for a few years, but I really want a long-term plan to move to a city that suits us both. Since he runs a remote business, we have the location flexibility to move, and I plan to work as well.

​However, whenever I bring this up, his response is that "girls have to leave their place and move to the guy's place—it’s nothing new." This really hurts me. I feel like I am the only one making adjustments. I’ve learned his language (Hindi) and I cook his cultural food, but he has shown little to no interest in learning about my culture or my background. He comes from a village background and I’m from a city, and while I’m willing to adjust for a good partner, I’m starting to worry about our compatibility.

​What is the point of a love marriage if it isn’t an amicable partnership where both people’s needs are met? I see a future and kids with this man, but his dismissive attitude toward my feelings and his refusal to consider a compromise is starting to scare me.
