Scared my PPD has effected my baby

I suffered badly with post partum depression for the first 6 months of my babies life. I’m only just now starting to feel a little bit better. Now that I’m coming out of the fog I’m really worried that my mental health has affected my ability to bond with my baby. The sleep deprivation drove me almost to insanity. I’m a single parent with very little support. Definitely don’t have a village. My baby seems very happy and smiley so I’d like to believe that my PPD hasn’t had any long term effects but then when I read about how important the first year is and how important it is for mom to be mentally and emotionally stable so that baby can learn to regulate and all that I feel so overwhelming guilty.

I’ve been feeling so low and hopeless and I’ve been so frustrated and impatient with my baby due to sleep deprivation, stress, depression etc. I’ve lost my cool so many times I’ve lost track. I’ve cried infront of baby many many times (I should have at-least tried to hide it but I didn’t). I got frustrated and threw a bottle at the wall one night. I’m so ashamed of myself when I think back on the way I’ve acted. Times when baby woke during the night and I was muttering please please go back to f*cking sleep I can’t take anymore. I often sighed in an exasperated manner when baby keeps fussing and there were times when we were stuck in traffic and baby wouldn’t stop whinging so I turned the radio up to drown it out. I feel like the worst mother in the world admitting to all this. I would never ever physically hurt my baby. But I know what I’ve done is damaging. There were times when I roughly shoved the pacifier back into babies mouth also.

I really haven’t been doing good enough and I’m determined to do better.

I’ve really been living in a state of fight or flight ever since I became a mother. It’s been harder than I expected.

The more I think about how I’ve behaved and the potential damage to my child the more sick I feel. How could I have lost my patience so much with an innocent baby who needs me so much 😭😭😭

Single mother to 6 month old baby. What is a good age to start crèche?

Can anyone advise me what would be a good age for my child to start crèche? I don’t have very much help. Definitely don’t have a village. I’m not trying to go back to work full time I’m just wondering what age it might work for the purpose of my child getting to socialise and play with other children and also for me to get a small bit of a break. Is there an option to do maybe a few hours 3 days a week? Or must one commit to 5 half days at-least? Sorry if these are silly questions I’m so clueless about this. Also wondering what’s the difference between preschool and Montessori and how organised must I be about getting on a waiting list? I feel like I need to have some kinda of plan and to know when I’m going to have some small bit of free time back in order to help me survive the stage I’m at now

EDIT: I put babies name on multiple crèche and preschool lists when I was pregnant. Have already been offered and refused one crèche place as I don’t need it yet.

I guess there isn’t any option for childcare for a few hours a few days a week prior to my child being eligible for ECCE? I’m struggling with SAHM life…..I definitely don’t work to go back to work full time or put baby in full time crèche just looking for other options for small breaks

[Help] gave phone repair shop my phone pin and iCloud password now I’m worried about it

Gave phone repair shop my phone pin and iCloud password to transfer data from broken iPhone

I was desperate to get the data from the broken iPhone (motherboard issue) so when he asked for my passwords I gave them so he could transfer everything to my new phone. Everything is transferred but now I’m kinda freaking out about everything he had access to. Do phone repair people go through peoples data? First he told me an hour for the data transfer then he needed 20 more min and then 10 more min and I had a lot of personal private stuff on my phone. I’m also worried about passwords I have saved to my iCloud. Do I now need to change ALL my saved to iCloud passwords? There were a lot of private pics he could have stolen. I’m very relived to have my data back but also feel very much like my privacy has been invaded. He could have read my personal text messages also

[Help] iPhone 11 keeps rebooting due to motherboard issue

Hi so there’s a problem with my iPhones motherboard so it keeps rebooting and showing pink screen. Phone repair store managed to transfer all my apps and data to my new phone today. The broken phone was still on when they gave it back to me and there were 2 apps that I hadn’t backed up recently, WhatsApp and signal so I tried to do it. I screwed up and rather than trying to back up my data in each app like I should have I tried to transfer the signal app to my new phone but it made the old broken phone die.

Is there a way I can get old broken phone to turn on properly rather than keep rebooting and to stay on long enough for me to photograph what I need with my new phone? Preferably without having to go back to phone repair store for 3rd time.

I think I’ve missed my chance to save WhatsApp data as I’ve already logged in on my new phone so it’s gone from my old one. My old signal account however is still on my old phone. I have the recovery keys and the SIM card for the signal phone number but I don’t think I have backup turned on so ideally either the phone would stay on long enough for me to sort out backing it up or else I’d just photograph the info I need.

New iPhone is iPhone 12 and iOS 26.6.1
Old iPhone is iPhone 11 and iOS 18.7.7

I just need the iPhone 11 that keeps rebooting to start properly and stay on for long enough for me to get what I need from it.

Pelvic floor therapist

Could someone please advise me. I’m 6 months post partum. I struggle to do kegals and am not really sure if I’m even doing them right. I vaguely remember being told something about being entitled to a pelvic floor therapist appointment for a certain duration age giving birth when I was attending CUMH for maternity appointments but forget the details. Does anyone know if there is free help available or if not then can anyone point me in the right direction for paid help? To make sure I’m doing them correctly and maybe give me advice about what I can do to strengthen it

Night nanny

Families who have used a night nanny how did you assess them before hiring them? Did you meet in person? Phone interview? Did you ask to see references? What else should I be doing before I leave baby alone with them?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a night nanny?

5 month old sleep problems

My 5 month old baby is still waking many times at night. I’ve struggled to get into a consistent routine. Currently have a vague one. She has 5 bottles every 24 hours Whatever time she goes to bed between 7.30pm - 9.30pm then I’d expect to be getting her up from bed 12 hours later. Over the course of the 12 hours that she spends in the bedroom she’d have atleast 2 sometimes 3 bottles. She would have the other 2 or 3 bottles during the day. Don’t have set times I just feed her when she’s hungry and try to stick to 2-3 hour wake windows during the day. Naps are unpredictable. Sometimes 30 min sometimes 2 hours. Id wake her after 2 hours if the nap was during the day but if it was in the evening I’d cap it at an hour in order to not screw up her night time sleep.

She’s a very happy, content, friendly baby who loves social interaction and looking around at everything when we go for our daily walks.

My current problems are: is there a way I could help baby to cut down on night feeds? I’ve tried feeding her more during the day but she just refuses the bottle.

At night she doesn’t always finish the bottle sometimes she would have 2 bottles during the night but each time only drink half the bottle and then wake an hour or 2 later to finish it. This turns 2 bottles into 4 night feeds for me.

She often wakes and just needs her dummy put back in her mouth or a cuddle rather than a feed.

I’m so sleep deprived and am desperate to find a solution so she doesn’t wake so often at night. I would have expected her sleep to have improved by now but it feels as bad as it was 2 months ago.

HELP :)

Best light stroller to buy to replace our big, heavy travel system buggy?

Moving from travel system to lighter stroller. What to buy?

Any advice? I’m unsure if I should buy an umbrella stroller or one of the sturdier ones? I just need something smaller, lighter, easier than my current travel system buggy. Baby is coming up to 6 months old now.

Donor conceived adults who have siblings who were not donor conceived did that make it harder for you?

I’m wondering if a single mom by choice already has a donor conceived child is it far better to give that child a full sibling with the same donor if possible rather than having a baby with someone the single mom knows in real life? I’m concerned that the first child might be very upset about their sibling having a dad rather than a donor…..am I being dramatic and overly negative and pessimistic or am I right to be so worried about that scenario being added pain for the 2nd child?

Women who have a non donor conceived child as well as a donor conceived child has this caused problems for you? Jealousy between the siblings?

I’m wondering does it make it harder for the donor conceived child when their sibling has a father rather than a donor? How do you explain this to them in a way that doesn’t cause hurt feelings or jealousy? How has it played out as they got older etc? Is it best to avoid ending up in this situation or am I being dramatic and overly negative and pessimistic about it?

How to get my 3 month old baby into more of a routine?

My 3 month old baby still wakes a lot at night. I’ve started capping day time naps to try fix the situation but we still have a very unpredictable routine. Any advice on how to get baby into more of a routine? Especially at night? I’m starting to get pretty desperate for better sleep at night. I expected baby would just start sleeping better on their own by now but no such luck.
