I found Sunraybee through his Reddit reviews and used to genuinely enjoy this subreddit a lot. It was one of the few places I kept coming back to.

But over time it got infested with a surge of incel and misogynistic posts and a lot of people started leaving because of that. After that the sub slowly became dead. Today I checked again and saw that it’s banned now due to unmoderated. Kind of sad honestly!

I was tired of opening the syllabus webpage, flipping through the preview page by page or logging into SWI every time just to reach the section I needed.

So I built a Python script that exports the syllabus into an OCR enabled PDF. I added OCR enabled PDF syllabi for all branches to Google Drive and if anyone wants to refer to the program code I have also put the GitHub link here: https://github.com/TheLastAutumnLeaf/sastra-syllabus-downloader

I studied how the SASTRA syllabus webpage is structured and noticed that it uses a flipbook style viewer instead of a normal downloadable PDF. The syllabus pages are stored as static image files so the script can fetch them directly and detect the page count, download all pages in order and merge them into a single PDF and then run OCR so the final file becomes searchable with copy-able texts.

It is a small utility but it saves a lot of time and makes the syllabus much easier to access and search.

Sharing it here in case it helps someone else who is stuck with the same flipbook style syllabus viewer.

How long must we wait for answers and why has a permanent act of remembrance still not taken shape?
