Hi all. My exhaust is leaking. The previous owner went ham with some welds but apparently it isn't holding up. How would you go about it to repair this? It is just after the middle exhaust damper. Thanks!
So I drove for about 1.5 hours, the cars been sitting for 2 hours. Tried to start and absolutely nothing happened.

Is it the battery or rather the starter circuit? I'm stuck at a friend's place atm.
Feels so good. I bought the 300E last year and it had a rough time starting the warm engine. The issue was worse for 60-90 minutes after stopping the engine. Long cranks, multiple tries and extra throttle was needed to get the engine back to life.
Replaced the OVP relay as a first measure, that didn't change anything. Did some more digging and Claude (yes, AI was helpful this time) suggested it could be the fuel accumulator. I wanted to exchange the fuel filter anyway, so bought the parts (Bosch accumulator, MANN filter) and got to work. Surprisingly simple job for an amateur mechanic like me. An old MMWA youtube video helped me along the way, although it wasn't such a crazy fuel fountain as in his video; I had taken care of dropping the fuel pressure. Removed the fuel pump relay and cranked out a bit of the engine to lose as much fuel pressure as possible. After opening up the system I lost about a liter of fuel, but managed to catch all of it in a drip pan.
Long story short, the engine now starts without extra throttle and a normal length crank, makes the car that more enjoyable. Really rewarding to see the fruit of your labor paying off.
In Finnland sieht man manchmal ein verlorener Tourist aus Traunstein oder Ostfriesland, aber 2 Tage Berlin machen viel gut. Trotzdem wäre es cool wenn Åland gesondert eingetragen werden könnte als Teil von Finnland.

Out with the old Blaupunkt Cassette player and in with the APS 30 with retrofitted Bluetooth. The wiring was hard as it required a DIN to ISO remapping, but the previous radio was not installed by the factory (cars in Finland came without radios because of luxury taxes) and as AI called it "this looks like an amateur job", later confirmed by the guy at the electronics store where I bought an adapter with loose wire ends. I joined them together with a connector block and now everything works.
Hi all, I've come to exchange my old Blaupunkt SQR05 New York to a Mercedes-Benz Audio 30 APS with retrofitted Bluetooth.
My Merc from 1990 didn't have a factory radio installed (due to luxury taxes in Finland) and it came with the Blaupunkt that was later installed when it arrived in Finland. The speaker set up seems to have been done with an 8 pin mini-Din cable (noted in the diagram as a pre-amplifier output). I for the life of me cannot find an amplifier in the setup (not under the seats, nor in the trunk as far as I can tell). Any other places where to look?
When I now switch to DIN; I will of course have the somehow get this cable "disassembled" into 4 inputs for the speaker. How do I go about it?

Zoals ik laatst al aankaartte in de discussie vanwege accijnsverlaging voor brandstof; zo'n accijnsverlaging is leuk, maar de oliebedrijven harken nu lekker zelf de winsten binnen (context in de post; tijdelijke Duitse BTW-verlaging naar 16% in de pandemie).
Morgen gaat in Duitsland de accijnsverlaging (gemiddeld 19 cent korting verwacht) in en pompstations gooien vandaag de prijs 20 cent omhoog om morgen waarschijnlijk de prijs met een paar cent te verlagen en dan te zeggen: kijk eens hoe gul we zijn.
Even los van de discussie of accijnsverlaging het antwoord is; het is tegen de economische werking (sleutelwoord: prijselasticiteit) om schaarse goederen (brandstof) in de korting te doen. Schaarse goederen horen duur te zijn zodat men overstapt naar alternatieven (ipv de auto naar de brievenbus te nemen, neem je de fiets). Dat gezegd hebbende, met uitgestoken tong, wellicht is een fietssubsidie een idee...
