Black people

Hi all, I’m a young black person about to make this move. I’m simply calling out to see if there are many other black expats on this thread. I want to know about your experiences in Portugal. I also am curious specifically curious on black hair culture and if you all have seen fellow dreadheads. I need Portuguese dreadhead support lol.

Using VR&E To transition into remote supply chain roles

Hi all, I’m a site manager in a customer-facing supply chain role. The pressures of having to consistently be on site and managing face to face relationships really takes a toll on me. My MH disability makes stressful social interactions and managing relationships really difficult. I want to transition into more remote roles so pivoting from operations management to specializing in buying/procurement/etc. Most of these new roles I’d like require a degree. Is this a case VR&E would approve and pay for schooling?

Non-monog/Polyamorous Community

Thinking about moving to Porto (25M) and am curious about the dating pool for non-traditional dating structures in the city for young people. I’m an English speaker and plan to learn the language to be able to connect with people. This is a long term plan, not a temporary move but instead hopefully a path to citizenship and settling in Portugal.

I am also queer, interesting in dating both men and women and anything else one can identify themselves as!

Chicago market

Hi all, just curious about supply chain work in the city of Chicago. Thinking about moving next year. Is there work in the city or on the outskirts of the city? Is it a big competitive market? I just wanna know what it’s like there in our field. I’m currently in Louisville, KY. Our biggest things here are ford and UPS which I have worked with both. I work as an integrated supply manager now and have been in the logistics/supply chain world for 7 years now.

Should I stay or should I go?

25 year old male. Marine Corps Veteran. 3 years controlling aircraft. Now 3 years into a supply chain/logistics career. Been at current role 9 month. Manager level position. I manage my customer’s storeroom - think inventory management, vendor management, managing purchase orders, delivering cost savings etc.

I have an itch so deep within me to move abroad. To take my 80% VA comp and just run with it. I have some savings, I think I could get by living in a cheaper country solely off that money and small shit jobs. Next year my plan is to quit my job and do just that. But the closer it gets the more I think maybe there is another option.

I have a newfound passion, stand up comedy. It feels like something I’ve been searching for my whole life. I’ve got the itch and found myself dreaming. Now, all of a sudden I’m considering moving from Kentucky to Chicago and getting another job in my field (ideally remote) and building a life there. A sustainable one where I can live, work, and pursue comedy more seriously in a much better scene.

I feel if I leave the country now, I may never come back. Which is appealing in many ways but also would mean giving up standup which seems to be a genuine calling for me. But I also can’t give up this dream of living outside of the US. I want to not work I want to run from the capitalist system here.

It’s definitely possible to do a bit of both here and I’m trying to find a realistic solution. If I travel first, I feel like it would make the move to Chicago a bit harder financially. Say I have 15k in the bank the day my lease here ends and it’s time to leave. Going abroad would surely only shrink that money, despite my ongoing VA money. That’d put me in a harder position when I come back.

But the idea of moving to Chicago getting a job I know I’ll realize fuck I’m just another cog in the machine… again! And shortly after the move I can imagine I’ll be looking to run again.

Maybe moving to Chicago, building my career, and buying a duplex to live in could be the play. That way at least if I move abroad I have an asset to come back to. Surely I’d be able to keep tenants if I get a place in a good area. The cash flow could better equip me to live abroad.

I’m rambling now, let me hear your thoughts. Be kind.

Add color to make this dragon pop?

Thinking about asking my artist to add color in the tips of the mane and maybe yellow in the eyes and teeth to give it more contrast and hopefully make it pop a little more. Just worried bc of the placement it’s on the elbow ditch so naturally it won’t read perfectly especially from distance, and it is already dark and don’t want to make it worsen

Moving to a bigger scene

I’m from Kentucky. I’m a year into my comedy journey and I have already caught myself dreaming. I’m a realist, I’m not doing comedy to get rich and famous, but I absolutely do want to be the best comedian I can and not waste the one life I was given. So I’m thinking about moving to one of the big 3 cities here in the US. Chicago, NYC, or LA. I’m leaning heavily towards Chicago as it is the most affordable of the 3 and close enough to home where I can get back easily if needed (not a homesick type of person but I like the added comfort of being able to be home for my parents and family in 5-6 hours if there were an emergency). But of course I feel NYC is the dream place for a comic to master their craft. And LA offers the lifestyle and environment that I think would be fit me most of the three. What do you guys think about moving to these cities?

Riverside Video Quality

Hi all, I am new to this I was considering using riverside and continuity camera to shoot my first pod but it looks like it maxes out the resolution at 720 which is weird bc my iPhone records in 4k. Anyone know how I can fix this or does anyone continuity camera to shoot and how can you make it look the best?

Jon Haas in Louisville, KY

Advice Needed: Should I add color to the dragon? I feel like the mane and nose hairs need a bit of a pop and will have better contrast against the green. I’m leaning towards adding yellow hairs. Or maybe red hairs with yellow in the eyes and teeth.

Can’t wait to fill the gap

The gap by the cowgirl is eating my OCD alive. Just one session to go and it will feel complete.

Dragon needs color?

Progress pic on this American/Japanese sleeve. Sat through this entire inner arm session last weekend and love how it turned out. My only concern is the dragon becomes kind of washed out and hidden in the black/gray. I asked my artist if we could go back and add touches of color and he said sure. What colors do you think we can add in the face to give it a bit more contrast and pop? Yellow usually will fade into my skin tone as you can see on the healed peonies on my forearm.
