Has anybody had luck with lower than 100 mg progesterone dosing

Can’t tolerate 100 or 200 mg progesterone. Need help with sleep though. Just read that there’s an option to get it compounded at 25-50 mg. Has anybody been able to get this? What led you to it, and was it affective in helping with sleep while keeping symptoms like irritability and weight gain at bay?

Breast hurting - lowered estrogen patch this AM

Surgical menopause at 39 5 months ago. I lowered my estrogen patch dose from .0375 to .025 mg after talking to my provider about sore, very full, and swollen breasts and bloating/water retention. Insomnia has not improved. I just don’t seem to tolerate HRT well in general. Progesterone makes me very swollen and irritable. So right now I’m on estrogen only HRT and really hopeful that the lower dose will help. Today my breasts have been hurting a bit. It’s uncomfortable. I’ve read it takes at least a week or two for the swelling to go down. Not sure if my body is in the process of adjusting already. Probably is. I seem to metabolize stuff quickly. Anyways, curious to hear what you felt and experienced after going down on estrogen when you felt swollen like this. How long did it take to notice a difference?

Looking for the next read - light, well-written, some romance thrown in perhaps

Finished up The Rom Commers and Malibu Rising. I enjoyed both. Currently reading Malala’s new book. Prior to finishing these ones, I read Nothing to See Here and Part of Your World. Tried to read Before The Coffee Gets Cold and it wasn’t for me. I get the best recommendations from this group! I am on a light, fun, yet not horribly written book train lately. I read before bed and struggle with insomnia and a tinge of anxiety after some medical issues I experienced this year. Need something that allows me to focus but keeps it light. No medical trauma or anything like that. Thanks!!

Cellulite remedies

What has worked best for you in terms of controlling pesky cellulite? I am doing caffeine, water, green tea, retinol body cream, eating clean foods, and working out daily, which includes weight training. I do know it’s genetic. I also massage it. Just not sure if there’s something I’m missing or if this is just life. 🤣 Going on HRT has seemingly increased the cellulite, btw. I am on a low dose of estrogen.

Estradiol .025 mg question - for those of you that do well on the lowest dose patch

Just had a full hysto in March at 39. I was started on the .0375 patch in early June. Also on a progestin since progesterone doesn’t settle well with me and I want that peace of mind in preventing reactivation of endo cells. I am about to go down to .025 as I am noticing swelling and bloating. Insomnia is also not great. If you went down to .025, why did you do it, and what positive changes did you notice? I do seem sensitive to hormones overall and don’t like the side effects but want to give my body that little hit of estrogen.

Surgical menopause at 39, 9 weeks on estrodiol .0375, starting to see the full effect

Apparently it takes 8-12 weeks to see the full effect of HRT. I am about 9 weeks in. Been on a low dose of estradiol (.0375). Tried .05 for 5 days and had to go down due to depression, anxiety, and insomnia. .0375 seems to be agreeing with me for the most part, but I’m noticing some weight gain, especially around breast and buttocks/thighs. I am slightly emotional. Insomnia is not great. I’m almost wondering if I should go down to .25 but not really certain how long to wait to do that or if it’s a good idea. For reference, I’m taking 2.5 mg progestin to help keep endometriosis away. How long is it advised to wait to make changes?

Cellulite

I’m a pretty thin person. Lift weights and eat gluten and dairy free with very minimal sugar and processed foods. I drink lots of water and take green tea pills. The cellulite on my legs is gross! Saw it in a mirror tonight and felt the idk. How are we managing this? Just bought Cocokind retinol body cream. This has always been an issue for me and I think is genetic.

Red light mask - which one is best/most affordable

Browsing red light masks. Want to use HSA. What is the best, most affordable FDA approved mask for anti-aging that you have seen results with? I am going to stay around 100-150 but could up to 200-250 if it’s really worth it.

Anybody feel like Botox doesn’t work? What actually works?

40 for reference. I was Botox averse (pretty crunchy) until last year. Really starting to notice rapid collagen and elastin loss. I am spending a lot and feel like every time I walk away I’m still seeing glaring wrinkles. I have a healthy budget, and even the providers are agreeing. I have skin that is prone to wrinkles (my mom has aggressive wrinkles.) I exercise, eat healthy, drink lots of water and take collagen. I use great skin care. I just had an appt yesterday and the nurse said I have great skin. It’s just that every time I go there’s one area above my eyebrows that either they can’t target correctly or is just impossible to erase. It’s bugging me for how much I’m spending - guess I’m just expecting more for that amount of money. I’ve been told to try microneedling. Is that worth the money? I’m willing to try an alternative if I notice a difference. I understand it would take a few times to really see results.

Full hysto folks: When did you first have sex post-op

I am 40 and had my full @ 39 in March for reference. I am on a low dose of the patch. Maybe going to try T and estrogen cream due to very low sex drive. I went through something very traumatic prior to the surgery (severe endo pain and in and out of ER). We have been sexual but no sex yet. It’s been a loooong time. I know we need to connect again in that way. I’m nervous as I had my cervix taken and I guess maybe residual anxiety is making me afraid I’ll hurt or the cuff will break even though surgeon said it looked good at my post-op check up. Has anybody has these thoughts? How was it your first time? Obviously going to use lube. I just feel sad that I don’t even have a desire for it at all. I just feel like I’ve been through so much. :/ I’m sure it’ll get easier over time.

Question regarding raising son Catholic with all of the traditions as we approach a crossroads

I was raised Catholic (family attended every Sunday and we went to Catholic school), and as an adult, I have my criticisms (quite a few, actually). My husband was raised Episcopal but never attended church. He’s always respected my decision to take our son to church when I want to go, even though he has issues with the CC as well. We’ve tried several episcopal churches and haven’t felt at home at all, whereas we like the Catholic Church nearby. We don’t feel at home at non-denominational churches or Baptist churches, etc. We both grew up with a more traditional yet progressive atmosphere (if that makes sense) and enjoy that. I am at a point where my son is entering third grade, and this is the last year for first holy communion. It would involve almost a year of rigorous classes. I technically don’t believe in some of the things they would teach him, but he has shown interest in it. I want him to be a full participant in choices like this. The choice was made for me as a kid. I want him to have more say, and won’t be brainwashing him. I am wondering if I should sign him up or allow him to explore RCIA when he gets older. I am at a total loss on what to do about this. I’ve reflected a lot over the years regarding which church is for us, if we stay with this church, etc. Just wondering if anyone else out there in the world of the internet has struggled with this choice and what to do about it. I guess I’m looking for guidance and ideas on how to best approach this. Signs ups are in August.

Surgical menopause/insomia

Had a full hysto 3 months ago at 39. Have been on estrogen for about 6-7 weeks. Played around with dosing until I found what works. I don’t tolerate progesterone orally but am on progestins for endo protection. I am tapering off per advice of my provider so would only be doing a low dose of estrogen HRT. I had insomnia issues prior to menopause but they’ve flared up immensely. What works best for you? I try magnesium glycinate, CBD/cbn, melatonin, unisom, ZzzQuil, cool room with weighted blanket noise machine, and no screens before bed — the works. My body is inherently battling it. Has anyone had luck with taking progesterone some other way, such as via cream? Could that help with sleep? Messaging my midi provider today just to see if she has advice. Obgyn just gave me trazadone. I took it last night after laying awake for hours and it knocked me out. I just don’t want to become dependent on this drug for life.

Has anyone had luck with other forms of progesterone other than oral

Mainly just need it for sleep. I’ve wide an awful time with sleep since going into surgical menopause but when I try oral progesterone I get so irritable and bloated. Not worth the side effects for me. Wondering if a cream might be helpful with sleep with less side effects?

Anxiety/sleep/buspar

I feel like I was doing pretty well post-full hysterectomy but I am now struggling immensely with sleep and anxiety as I dial in on the correct dose of hormones. One of my providers once prescribed me buspar for PMS symptoms. It is a low dose anti-anxiety RX that is not an SSRI. I am contemplating starting it again. Has anyone felt like this helped you with sleep and anxiety once you gave it a few weeks to set in? I also have an RX for Trazadone. I’m hesitant about mixing the two/

Clothing rental services question - looking for some new outfits

I am debating signing up for one of those rental services or Stitch Fix so I have some more options every month in terms of clothes. Has anyone tried something like this? Have you liked it? Which one did you choose and how much was it?

Fellow former teachers who became dyslexia tutors

Anyone else out there?? I was a 7-12 ELA teacher and then became an online 1:1 for a cyber school. This year, I’ve worked towards my Wilson reading cert.

I am planning on tutoring in person and virtually. Excited but a little nervous as I’ve never really had my own business or done this as a job before.

I can say that it’s been incredibly rewarding to work with my practicum student and I’m excited about the changes that this year will bring.

Would love to hear perspectives from those who have made this change. Do you like it? Is it steady, strong income?

I was having a lot of issues with kids not showing up last year and it impacted my pay. My company also cut pay rates so it prompted me to make a change. I’m just hoping that I make close to what I made in brick and mortar (and I didn’t make much 😅).

Anyone work for a Stride virtual school? What has your experience been like? Positives/negatives? I’ve worked in the virtual education space for years and am considering a transition to a full-time role.

Stopping progestins - question for those who do estrogen-only HRT

Have been on 5 mg of norethrindone following a full hysto in March. I am 40 with a history of severe endometriosis and fibroids, hence the progestin RX. I started on a low dose of the patch about 6-7 weeks ago and have felt fine on that low dose. I am still taking the progestin for endo suppression (don’t like progesterone at all - tried it in different doses multiple times) but considering stopping after reading about the slight increase in breast cancer risk, and it is also making me constipated. Two providers I’ve met with have told me I can stop if I want as the risk of endo coming back aggressively with no uterus or ovaries is low. Just wondering if anybody else has stopped progestins (and avoided progesterone, so in other words taken estrogen-only HRT), especially with a history of endo? Thanks.

Questioning parents choices and who they are

I’ve always been close with my family and looked up to my parents. However, the choices they’ve made recently are making me question who they are, their purpose, and goals. I feel like they’ve become unrecognizable to me. It’s all about money and luxury. They’ve become too comfortable with everything and have no idea what it’s like to live in the middle class anymore. I cannot relate to them at all. I don’t even feel like they give a fuck about me anymore. Just wondering if anybody else feels this way? I’ve been through a major medical episode this year and they have barely checked in or helped. All it is for them is golf and fine dining every day. I get more help from my MIL. It sucks and it hurts to see them change into people I didn’t really know growing up as a kid. My identity is about helping other people, learning, growing, and challenging myself. I try to see things from other perspectives. They have a one track mind and seem to live selfish lives where everything is centered around them with occasional family visits. I guess I just find myself growing apart from the family I was once close to and questioning a lot of things about my life. That said, I’m grateful for a somewhat normal, healthy upbringing where I had what I needed. As an adult, though, I feel like it’s healthy to question certain things and make different decisions based on what you feel is right.
