My first Oris

The Big Crown Bronze Pointer date was one of the first pieces to ever grace my collection wishlist. Picked up a nicely patina’d piece this week, and I am in love!

The dial is much more dynamic than expected, which is nice. It can masquerade as a deep purple depending on the light.

Tossed on this old Zulu Diver strap I had laying around, kind of a neat combo. The bronze bracelet is great, but I’m thinking of finding a burgundy NATO with bronze hardware as a secondary strap.

What are some straps you love on yours?

856 + Delugs Nubuck Grey

A winning combo. My first experience with Delugs after drowning in ads, and I gotta say: it’s nice.

The darker shade of the tegimented steel works well with the light grey nubuck leather.

What are some other 856 strap favorites of yours?

[FC Yacht Timer] Where to even start

I am in love with my new Frederique Constant Yacht Timer. I mean wow, this thing checks every box. It’s right at the crossroads of dress and sport, and it feels like it handles both perfectly.

The highly polished case, bracelet, hands and indices really gleam in the light. The rose gold PVD is beautiful. The dial is clean and symmetrical. The exhibition case back shows a nicely finished matching rose gold rotor on the FC-380 automatic movement.

Then, the orange chronograph seconds hand reminds you this is for sport. As the regatta timer windows track from white, to blue, to orange, you feel the urge to unfurl your sails and enjoy the salty spray of the ocean — with 100 meters water resistance you know this shiny piece isn’t just a looker.

From design, to execution, to proportions and balance, to versatility, I truly only have a single note: a subtle power reserve indicator would have made this perfect. The argument could be made that it would detract from the simplicity of the dial, but we’re already talking about the most clean chronograph display you’ve ever seen. Without a running seconds hand, it would be nice to have the assurance of the indicator to tell me when I’m wound and running, without starting the timer or checking the balance wheel.

Regardless, the joy of watch collecting has hit a new peak.

[856] “For our next trick, we’ll make the crystal *disappear*”

u/Vast_Pizza_7967 — 1 month ago

I wore 4 watches and 5 straps today…

And, you know what? That’s okay 👌

ChronoQueue doesn’t care how many I wear in a day; logs them all and the stats tell the story.

Anyone else swapping watches all day like it’s your wrist’s last day on earth?

[Sinn vs Hamilton] The power of AR ✨

Here you see the best anti reflective coating in the biz, next to… no anti reflective coating 😬

I can’t help but wonder how much more I would love my Murph if it hard the stark legibility of the 556. Although, maybe the cloudy crystal and the lower contrast cream markers on dark charcoal dial are all part of the warm charm.

Or maybe I’m just coping 😅

Recap time again! What was your most worn watch in May?

Last month, you all shared some amazing pieces from your April rotation! Well, it’s already been another month and you know how it goes—the wrist time doesn’t lie!

So, what earned its time on the wrist for you last month?

I had an insane couple of weeks at the end of May: acquired one of my dream watches, the Murph, found some crazy deals, and made some great trades for a total of 4 new pieces in the collection.

I had lots of questions on which pieces were featured in my rotation calendar last month, I know it’s hard to see the little thumbnails, so I’ve got a link to the whole collection here on ChronoQueue:

My first—the Superocean!

I was on the hunt for a dive watch as the next piece to the ole collection. Almost certainly it was going to be the new 2026 Hydroconquest as it was topping my ChronoQueue wishlist for awhile… until this popped up on marketplace! Sometimes the planning takes a backseat when the perfect deal comes along.. right?

What a tank this thing is. Truly feels like I could be on a submarine in the murky depths that succumbs to pressure and crumples like a tin can… and the Superocean would be the only thing that survives.

Sorry Longines, maybe I’ll circle back for the Spirit Pilot!

Old school cool.

My intro to Omega, with Omega’s first in-house quartz movement: the Cal. 1310

Old school cool.

I came across this Omega Megaquartz 32 kHZ, circa 1970’s, today at Regal Watch Exchange in St. George, Utah — I knew it was mine as soon as it hit the wrist.

I love vintage watches, but have a larger wrist. 38mm is kind of my lower limit when it comes to enjoying the look and feel of my watches. This 39mm example fit so well, I was instantly excited! Finally, I could enjoy a piece with that 70’s retro class without feeling like I was sacrificing on sizing. Even the box is a treasure.

After just one evening on the wrist, I’m beyond thrilled with how well it wears, how clean it looks, and it’s charming nostalgia for an era gone by. It’s certainly going in my daily rotation with my other 3 current favorites (pictured last). It fills a perfectly unique slot in the box with its vintage, two-tone, integrated style.

It lives up to the reputation

After a week with my new Murph, I love it more and more every day. The stiff leather strap is breaking in well and becoming my own. Swapped to the bracelet yesterday and suddenly I’m enjoying a brand new watch.

The clean design of the dial is so well executed, I keep finding new reasons to stare. The warm color of the hands and markers on the dark dial are beautiful. The extra long syringe-tips of the cathedral hands are fine and elegant. The numeral font is legible and subtly interesting. The proportions of numerals, the hands, the branding, the empty space in the dial, are all excellent.

The case is simply shaped, but well done. I love the huge crown with no guards. The case is the perfect thickness: not a wafer dress watch, but thin and sleek, yet with presence as a military style casual watch. I was most nervous about the lengthy 52mm lug to lug measurement, but I’ve come to appreciate the long, elegant lugs as one of my favorite elements. The spring bar holes are also not set into the outer tips of the lugs, but closer to the center of their length, thus the leather strap actually hugs the wrist tighter and doesn’t abandon appropriate proximity to the case. This creates an overextending effect to the lug tips which I think is uniquely stunning, while also wearing smaller than a standard style 52mm lug to lug would.

The only downside is that the rest of my collection has been looking on with envy.

Picked up a 2000’s Aquaracer today

Came across this piece locally and thought I’d try it out. I often cycle through the secondhand market just to try out new stuff, and I gotta say I’m digging the 2000’s vibe here. Great proportions too.

Who knows, maybe I’ll keep this one awhile!

[The Murph] A Journey Across a Decade!

Interstellar changed me the first time I saw it (late, I know) in 2017.

My love for watches started to bloom shortly before, in 2016.

In 2021, I made my first spreadsheet wishlist of watches I really wanted to own, and the Murph topped the list.

For years, my watch collection and desire ebbed and flowed. Other things took priority—I started a new career, was married, bought a house, a car, had two children.

Last year in 2025, I built ChronoQueue to give myself and other collectors a better way to dream about growing our collections, and still, the Murph was omnipresent.

Today, nearly a decade later, the time was right!
