so I lived here 2013-2023, then moved away for a few years and just now moved back. Not much has changed.. except Grab Food seems totally crap.

The UI is worse, there are constant in-app popups getting in the way of doing stuff, and a lot of the filters or categories are gone. Also, and I don't know if it is just the bad UI or real, but there seem less restaurants listed?

I'm guessing there is some kind of pad krapao trend going on as well, considering how half the restaurants are focused on it. Are there any better apps now?

It is kinda clunky when I am playing something and experimenting with different patterns, then want to mute a track so have to swap to mixer, mute it, then swap back. It seems like the type of thing there might be a shortcut to do it directly from the track but I cant find one.

Every menu seems designed to actively work against you and a major downgrade from WF1. I could completely change my car spec in WF1 from A-class to C-class in the 60 seconds between races. Here, everything is bundled together in a single menu, stats are buried in the bottom left, the entire left hand side of the screen is wasted. Scrap-It may be the worst offender, I have no interest in using it while it is so slow. Online game lobby.. all of it. The actual in-game HUD is much improved at least.

The number of times when someone asks me about my job, I tell them its in drug development, and I get some variant of the above phrase.

It makes no sense on so many levels given that (a) we do have many, many, cancer treatments, (b) they do make money, and (c) cancer isn't a single disease. I usually reply with (a) and people either shrug or say its not a real cure.  🙄

Sometimes I might have already mentioned that my focus is in oncology, and in those occasions it is also kinda annoying since it implies I am lying. Just curious how others handle it.

I just realised that in four years of birding (with weekly bird walks), I never saw a bullfinch.

According to this list (https://www.bto.org/sites/default/files/publications/apep4-population-estimates-birds-great-britain-uk-2020.pdf) it is the most common bird which I missed. Willow warbler almost won - I only spotted it once yet there are around 2 million somewhere.

Curious what it is for others (and any bullfinch tips!).

I permanently moved abroad last year - I have a long term visa and permission to work remotely in my host country. I already notified HMRC because I pass the test for no longer being a resident for tax purposes.

But I regret it and I'm a bit worried it could cause problems, because I'm employed (remotely) by a UK company which still pays me via PAYE including regular taxes.

I decided not to apply for an NT tax code because I don't want to miss NI years, want to keep paying student loans off, plus I pay zero tax in my host country and it just felt kinda scummy to pay no tax anywhere.

But I dont know if this will cause problems with HRMC? Either for paying tax that I'm not really eligible to pay, or that they dispute my non-resident status. The last thing I want is an investigation where I have to supply years of documents. I searched but can't find much info online.

I was using the Asics Cumulus 26 for about a year, because I saw them recommended on Reddit and other sites as a lightweight and cushioned shoe. But my feet were constantly a bottleneck - after a few km I would get pain in my arches, the front ball would hurt, it would distract me and often I had to stop around 3km. At MOST I could run 5km but my feet would hurt for days after.

I thought it was one of those things you just get used to or your feet adapt, but after a year I was still getting it and needing 4-5 days between runs. (Also because I was getting constant blisters).

So two months ago I decided I have to get shoes with more cushioning, even if it slows me down, and after a little research got some Hoka Clifton 10s. I also invested in some anti-blister socks (runderwear).

I didn't realise until today but it has worked fantastic! This month I ran my first ever 8km and today did my first 10km, and my feet were never in any discomfort. I'm still slow as hell (my pace today was 7:30 per km), but its so much more enjoyable now I don't have that pain distracting me.

I have a ticket but now i'm looking at hotels and jesus christ all the hotels are £600+ for two nights (i'd have to get there thursday and leave saturday). I dunno if there is something else going on that weekend. Is there anywhere nearby it is better to stay?

Just curious who or what exceeded expectations or was worse than you hoped.

My biggest surprise was Story of the Year - I went for nostalgia sakes but they sounded incredible still, and way heavier than I remembered. I mean Gasoline is pretty much a metal song. Definitely want to see them again.

Disappointment - Limp Bizkit. I understand not being 100% energy after what happened, but it doesn't explain having the same nostalgia setlist as last year or the year before, or the no effort production. I wish they would just do a normal setlist without all the silly breaks, and deeper cuts like Pollution or Counterfeit.

Wtf moment - seeing a parent crowdsurf with their kid standing on top of them.

A clown snapped his neck on stage at the end of Ice Nine Kills set, so i'm guessing we need a new mascot for next year.

I'm staying in Derby so getting up and arriving in time will be rough, after the Friday night, but man they are so good. Seeing them on the main stage will be amazing. Past years I never arrived before 2pm, is there actually much crowd at that time?

I have filter set to original, colour set to natural, and all AI options disabled.

But still if I take a photo using the default camera app, it has horrible oversaturation and sharpening, almost cartoonish.

Actually if I take a photo and quickly switch to gallery, I see in real-time the original image get post-processing.

Any recommendations on how to deal with this? Its a real chore having to go through every photo and manually desaturate it into something more normal looking.

This is a problem because H 265 is not compatible with some sites, like Discord - you need the standard H 264.

The Razr 70 has a camera option "Efficient videos - Save as H.265" but even when disabled it still saves in that codec. After some testing I found the only way to stop it is if Dolby Vision (HDR) is disabled. Bug or feature, I dont know.
