Set cube ratio

What does going from 4/2/1 to 6/2/1 achieve? I'm obviously not great with stats, but doesn't adding two more of each common keep the odds the same?

If no other reason, I'm thinking of upping the commons just so I can build more packs. Right now when I'm done building packs I still have a huge pile of rares and mythics left over after I run out of commons.

How can X mana cards be used when cast for free? From what Ive read, the X counts as zero when cast without paying mana. But does that mean I cannot use extra mana to boost it? Example, XRR. Cast for free, but use 5 mana for X to cause 5 damage to each creature?

Can you have too much land?

Might be purchasing nearly 70 acres in northern California. Several people have said that's a "scary amount" of land. We're still in the baby stages, but we want to grow our own food and throw a few cattle on it for meat. I figure if nothing else, it's a nice buffer from potential neighbors. Am I missing something? Can it be too much?

Cube Cobra

New to building cubes and my first one didn't work out too well. How do you use Cube Cobra? Is there any info posted with the card lists, or some other way to see how well that cube played? How do you know that persons cube is any good, do you just base it on the amount of "likes" it shows? I really don't want to spend a bunch of money building another cube that isn't fun. Thinking my next try will be Innistrad (original or remastered), if anyone has some tried and true cubes to build.

Ca Fair plan

I was looking at 70 acres in California, and couldn't figure out why it was so cheap. Until the fire insurance came back at $500/mo through fair. Then I read there's a 30% increase happening in October, and some homes may double. Now I understand why it hasn't sold at this price for 3 years.

Is there any way to get rid of the insurance requirement on a loan? The house is tiny and I'm really just buying the land. The house isn't worthless, but it's close to worthless. I wouldn't care if it burned down, but I'm sure the banks would.

Is there anything stopping them from raising it to $5000/mo down the line? I have a feeling I should pass on this, even if I could technically afford it now. But it kills me to let it go.

My Bloomburrow cube isn't very fun

I built it using a 1/2/4 ratio. We haven't played it very much in the last few months since I built it because it isn't very fun. We spend so much time drafting it, and then the games drag out forever. Like 15+ turns. The goal was to make a balanced game without crazy OP decks frustrating ppl. And it went waaaay too far the other way. Is this just how set cubes are? Any advice? On paper cube seems like THE way to keep it fair and balanced. But at what cost....well at least financially, a lot 🤣 Edit: Someone posted a link to card ratings and which ones to try cutting. I'll start there, thanks!

Years without an offer.

We have an offer in on some property that has been on and off the market for years without a single offer. It's approaching the deadline for response. Is this a completely insulting and unreasonable offer being 26% under asking? I'd think not if literally no one has put into any low balls. But it would be a miracle if the place could even be approved for a loan.

How to help untreated father

Long story short, my dad has been a mental trainwreck my entire life. Throughout my teen years he was constantly in therapy. Looking back, I can't believe CPS didn't seize me. To his credit he did try to stick me in a boys home at one point. A few years back he responded to me questioning something about it with "I told you, they did figure it out. Something called skeezoteepal." A quick Google search unfolded some pretty heavy stuff explaining a lot.

He is now 70 and it seems to have gotten much worse. I'm not a therapist, but after many hours of reading I'm fairly certain he has full blown schizophrenia. From what I read a shockingly large number of StPD patients eventually are full blown schizophrenics. I'm afraid I'm going to have to remove him from my life, and this is my last ditch effort to find a way to approach this.

He is extremely paranoid. His self esteem is nonexistant. I got him to do one therapy session a few years ago (before he started yelling and had to be muted on Zoom). The therapist told me she's never seen someone with such low self esteem. If I even try to bring up how sick he is he loses it and deflects. He basically insinuates he completed therapy and has a clean bill of health (anosognosia?). He blames everything on me and fantasizes that one day I will realize I am all the problems and apologize. For some context, I am a paramedic with a very rich and fulfilling life. My wife is a lead behavioral response RN. He lives alone in the desert with virtually no friends or family left. Upon visiting us, by the end of the first day my wife said holly %$#@ he is way worse than I imagined, I rarely get psych patients that bad that aren't put into care.

I don't know how to approach someone who is so quick to get violent and yell. Do I just let him die alone in a desert? I cannot imagine the last years of his life if he is still deteriorating. We cannot get him to answer one question without veering off on 15 other subjects without giving a yes or no. He vomits up word salad then gets upset no one is following. His mannerisms are mind numbing. Half dancing and mimicking us, repeating what we say softly (apparently called "echoing"). He thinks he has a "supercomputer brain" but I feel like his IQ is mid 70s at best. Every minor thing is the end of the world. Every thing we say he takes as a deeply personal attack. He has zero regulation on appropriately perceiving any conversation. I care naught about the inheritance, but I am deeply concerned something is going to go wrong with him causing him to lose all of his money (a lot) and he won't even be able to afford his end of life years. He has done very evil things to family, friends, and strangers over the years. But constantly refers to others as "pukes" for being immoral over the most trivial things. He is extremely manipulative and a massive control freak, but according to him he's the most righteous saint in the world.

My wife is telling me his mental illness can only go so far before he is just a bad person. And I'm having a hard time finding that line with him. But the one thing I'm certain of is this person needs serious drugs. We just got home from a 13 hour drive at 4am and went straight to bed. He knocks on our bedroom door asking about his shotgun I put away. For the first time in my life I locked my door in fear, not knowing how far this has progressed. And I have no freaking clue what to do next other than stay awake until my wife wakes up and I can get him out of the house.

ETA: After reading this sub I feel more strongly is full blown schizophrenia. The people on here are so self aware of this disorder. He appears to have never even Googled what he was diagnosed with, and thinks he's completely normal.

Ca fair plan question

I know it's based on fire risk. But is your premium calculated off structure replacement cost, or acreage? I'm looking at 70 acres in a high risk area. The structure is tiny and not worth much. What can I expect to pay for insurance? None of the calculators are working for me. Asking because if it's likely to be something like 10k a year it's going to kill the deal.

Effects loop question

I finally tried putting my pedals through the effects loop on my JVM 410H. I'm wondering if I'm missing something, because I hate it. If all my pedals are off it's super loud and crunchy like I'm used to. As soon as I turn on my chorus it's quiet and the quality of the crunch has turned to crap. I have it going from the send, to the pedal chain, then back to return. What's the deal?

Whammy bar?

Do you guys normally keep it loose to kinda just swing around? I'm trying this "chirping" thing where you rapidly pluck and drop the bar. But gravity always wins and I accidentally let it slip out of my hand while picking notes.

How important are my cab speakers for Alexis tone?

Settled on the JVM410H after being able to try it side by side with some Engls. Now I'm trying to figure out my cab. Is the stock 1960a with G12T-75 speakers probably going to be fine, or is it worth the money to get a cab with vintage 30s or Greenbacks?

Harmonics diminished with thicker strings?

I put 10-56 strings on my guitar for playing in D, and all off a sudden pinch harmonics (and even natural harmonics) seem extremely hard or even impossible. Is this normal? My higher strings didn't change much, but my low E string is pretty much 100% dead for any harmonics, and my A is 10x the amount of work for them.

Does this cover all chapters?

I have a bunch of space marines laying around from buying combo box sets, so I want to paint and try playing them. Answers online are confusing. Can I just paint my terminators, librarians, etc. light blue and make them space wolves? Will this codex cover all offshoots of marines? Mostly just want the code. Do I need to purchase each chapter( chaos, ultra, wolves, etc.) or should this main codex cover them all?

Warrior leader?

I got the 3 pack of warriors. When I put them into my army on Battleforge it said I need at least one tyranid prime to lead them. I already have this prime (with wings) in my army, but it wont let me use it. Am I really required to build 1/3 as another prime?

Outdoorsy nightmare

Tl;Dr - flew to Alaska and our RV had a check engine light and broke down ruining our trip. What's the best way to go about a refund?

Finally made it to Alaska after ten years of dreaming and had a nightmare trip. RV owner picked us up and seemed nice, but had some red flags. It wasn't ready and they kept mentioning "bad renters" prior to us causing the delay. It needed new tires and a deep clean.

Picked it up around 4pm and drove to a campsite. First morning a warning message comes about fuel intake valve or something. Owner says don't worry it's nothing. Drove hours out to a lake with no service where the check engine light came on. Had to cancel the next day of fishing to go way back to a mechanic who cleared the error codes pertaining to the fuel intake and engine misfire. Spent a day driving and the new warning message came back on.

Started heading up towards Fairbanks to try and salvage our trip on a tight schedule. Made it an hour out of Anchorage before the entire thing shut down leaving us stranded on the side of the road. Nice locals stopped to figure it out and we're scratching their heads at the complete loss of power.

Owners basically said we don't know take it up with Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy says not to worry we won't charge you for the remaining days not used. What? We're our thousands of dollars and 6 months of PTO even if you gave us a full refund.....

Waited hours for their tow that never came and finally someone was able to help us get it started to limp back to anchorage. We decided to cut our losses and go home 5 days early. The owners would not commit to a refund. The husband and wife kept dancing around and kept pushing us to let them fix the battery and keep going at a discounted rate.

We told them we're not comfortable going any more with a shoddy vehicle that's already left us stranded and they kept saying things like "fair resolution" instead of refund. To make it worse, as we were trying to get a last minute flight and take care of a place to stay, they kept blowing us up asking for an ETA and finally saying they can't wait any longer because they had...dinner plans. Sorry to inconvenience you with our nightmare trip from hell due to your crappy RV we spent 4k on for nothing?

I have a strong suspicion I'm not getting my refund and will likely be charged for the tank not being full despite them red assing me to get it back in the midst of panic mode. What can I expect and do to prepare to fight this? Heartbreaking trip that cost us soooo much even if they just gave us our money back without being difficult....

Opinions on size vs sound quality

What's going to sound better, a 100w I have to play at low volume, or a 25w I can play at mid volume? I live in a neighborhood and only want to drive my neighbors slightly insane.

Correct tabs?

Anyone have a source for correct tabs? Every other tab on ultimate guitar etc. is vastly different from the next, with a lot being obviously incorrect. There are a few good ones on YouTube but not everything I'm looking for. COB songs are a lot of notes to learn and I sure don't want to learn them all jacked up.

Old posts show a website that no longer works. Anyone have a good current source?

No water

For the last week or so my new app controlled Rainbird has been great. This morning I hit stop on the cycle so I could get into my truck. Now none of the zones will come back on. No matter what I hit on the app, it shows that it's currently irrigating despite nothing actually happening.
