Walking after leg day
Hi! I’ve just started getting into fitness about 2 months ago. I’ve been noticing that the day after I’ve had a pretty intense leg workout, my calves or my ankles start locking up the next day on my walk. I definitely always stretch beforehand too. Sometimes I feel like it makes the soreness a lot worse and I’m worried I’ll get injured, but I don’t want to skip a day either. Any advice?
Some of my recent meals I’ve made for getting fit as a vegetarian
I’ve been eating at a deficit for 3 weeks and I’ve been struggling to hit my protein macro as a vegetarian.
Here are some of my meals. I know I’m a bit light of carbs, but I also sometimes eat the carbs as snacks. Any advice? I’m going to be introducing egg whites. I don’t know why I didn’t know about them sooner.
Edit: Mentioning this in case it’s relevant. I’m 5’10.5 female who works out 3-4 times a week (weights + stair climber/incline walking) and I also do 6-10k steps a day. I currently weigh 205 (last I checked). My deficit is 1600-1800. I usually hit around 1700something
Also I already utilize Orgain protein shakes once daily
Leftover tteokbokki in bed + extra protein
Some carpenters are hanging some blinds downstairs so I’m hiding in my room to eat lunch. Yolo, ladies (and others)!
Pictured: leftover tteokbokki (w cheese) from 2 nights ago, kimchi and 2 hard boiled eggs.
Little victories.
I grew up as kind of a wild child punk rocker and didn’t really settle down until I got pregnant with my daughter 11 years ago. I smoked and drank a lot and fell asleep with my makeup on almost every night. I thought taking care of my skin was wearing foundation with spf 20 and putting on moisturizer after I washed my face 🙄
Like a lot of you, I didn’t know shit about skincare when I was younger. That’s how it was when we were younger. It just wasn’t common to know about skincare and spf was something we only wore on vacation. I didn’t really get into skincare like wearing a daily SPF and having a routine until I was 34.
Like many of you I often beat myself up with what-ifs. What if I knew more about skincare when I was younger? What if I started wearing spf earlier? What if I never started smoking? What if I lived a more health conscious life in my 20’s? Would I have these age spots or these marionette lines forming? Would my dark circles be this bad? And then I start picking myself apart for everything I feel like I could have prevented.
I was at a doctor’s appointment with a new doctor yesterday and I brought up my age (it was relevant). I guess I don’t ever really bring up my age very often. My doctor appeared to be in her early 30’s. Before she left the room she said, “I honestly can’t believe you’re 42! You really look amazing.”
It honestly made my entire month.
Anyways, I guess my point is that I pick myself apart thinking everything I did was wrong that I’m not even seeing myself objectively. Sure, I definitely have some age and sunspots and getting marionette lines etc, but I am taking care of myself now! It’s not all a lost cause, friends! I know it’s not about looking young as much as it’s about just being our best selves, but it’s nice to know that objectively I’m doing well for myself and it’s a huge motivation for going forward.
Be well, my fellow over 40’s!
Help me out, gym girlies!
Just started back in the gym after being MIA due to various life and mental health reasons. I’m stoked to be back, but I’m having a super hard time finding flared compression leggings that are long enough.
Like either they have like NO COMPRESSION -or- they don’t come in a long enough size. I know I can just get regular compression leggings which are easier to find in a tall size, but I want to feel cute :3
I live in the US. Please end help 🙏🏼
Just found out due to this other guy who posted about his hands that this is called “Arachnodactyly.”
I kind of fell down a google hole about it. I means “spider fingers” and can just be genetic “normal” or caused by one of many genetic conditions such as Marfans or Beals.
My fingers in particular are actually way more flexible than average, but I’ve never been diagnosed with any connective tissue disorders and my spine is normal so it is weird that they do that.
I just remember my friends saying I had Jack Skellington hands in high school, but the term I’ve heard the most is “piano fingers.”
My finger to palm ratio isn’t as crazy as that other guy’s but I find it interesting! I’ve never even considered my health in context to how my hands look.
Please suggest books for my 10 year old based on her main book shelf.
Anyone else chilling out as they get older?
I’m 42 and I’ve noticed that things I used to be super die hard about aren’t as important and things I would have never let slide are also seemingly less important. I’ve always been super “no chill” about a lot of things, but I’ve been losing a significant amount of f*cks as of late. I honestly can’t say I hate it from a comfort standpoint, but I also feel weird about relaxing my standards.
Am I the only person experiencing this with getting older as an ENTJ? If so, how do you feel about it? Do you feel like you’re abandoning your principles or your standards are slipping? Do you feel relieved? Are you apathetic? What’s the Ti?
Yep. It’s just spinach and crumbled cheese slices.
I’ve been craving iron so let’s gooooo! 🤠
Everyone here is so young. Any other Millennial or Gen X + Wasians here? Represent ✊🏼
I got what I came for and I’m not gonna look anymore 😂
Yep. Banning myself from looking again.
I’m happy overall with my box. I wish I’d gotten a color of the YSL instead of clear and the Dermalectives is a HUGE dud. I have super dry skin so clay masks are my enemy and I dislike that “brand.” Anyways, everything else is great. I like the color of the Makeup by Mario lip cream. It was in my top 2 color choices.
Hope everyone got what they wanted!
