I’m finally coming to peace with a lot of things and feel like I’m maturing from where I was 3 years ago [19] to [22]

I went through quite a lot as a kid and I’ve had to come to terms with things. One of the things I had to come to terms with was that I didn’t want to live in a cycle of self victimization. I want to be able to look myself in the eye some day (hopefully some day soon) and be proud.

I’ve worked hard on my personal health, both mental and physical as a starting point. I’m still working hard on it but I think I’m finally at a point where I can begin to love myself again.

I want to become someone who is no longer a product of the past, but someone who’s going to build themselves up to have a better future.

I’m trying to decide on a go to makeup look but I honestly like them all

It’s hard bcs I’m really just getting into makeup (especially eyeliner) and I want something easy to whip on etc but at the same time I love the heavy eyeliner and highlighter.

Time wise I know that a hint of eyeliner is the way to go, but going out wise I feel like heavy is the move.

Part of the issue is that even when I try to make it look like full glam it never does tho.

Can someone help me pick my dating profile pictures? I keep getting told I look crazy

I’m 22 and I honestly just am tired of hearing that. I asked the freaking tinder page and they agreed about a few of my pictures. I can’t pick up my anxiety meds til the morning and everyone I know is dead asleep right now so this is my current spiral. Istg, I’m also a woman, I’m just seeking other women willing to help😭

Like you can genuinely see this same profile on the freaking tinder reddit if you need verification. I literally just need help with photos as I have serious face image issues and clearly can’t tell crazy pictures from not.

On dating apps, what is the girl version of holding up a fish?

I’m actually really curious about this. Where I live it’s not fish though, it’s skiing or climbing pictures LOL

But yall get the gist right?

What to buy at Normal to bring back?

Hello,

My father is currently in Finland and told me he would bring stuff back if I requested it from Normal. The problem is I haven’t found any websites that show the items/lists/etc in English. So I’m asking for advice, especially anything that I couldn’t find in the U.S!!!

Any advice would be appreciated,
Thank you so much!!!!

Practicing for Halloween, any tips to look more like an alien? (I’m going to paint my face/body pink but face paint comes tomorrow)

So I’m going for purple makeup for my punk skin, my friend is going to be purple with pink makeup. Any tips for how to make this look better or more alien like?

For a beginner please. I can’t use prosthetics or anything like that😭

Edit: I just tried purple contour. It looks horrible on my normal skin so will retry on pink.

I’m getting back out into the dating scene and I am COMPLETELY NAIVE in this aspect. I’m on hinge but I’m really worried because I’ve already had a bad experience.

How should I navigate this? I’m 22 and I’m honestly not interested in hook ups. I’ve only ever had committed relationships (albeit 2 and short term as it was high school) and I’ve honestly only done the deed once.

I went on a date with a guy who seemed really nice and had similar values, we couldn’t commit to an idea ahead of time but he ended up deciding movies as we shared a love of horror movies and didn’t want to study. I admittedly did not choose the best movie choice as it has a slow start, but if you watch it’s a really good found footage horror.

The whole time though he was just trying to kiss and touch and it was terribly awkward. He cooked a lovely dinner and I really appreciated it but it felt like he just wanted to have sex. Like we didn’t talk AT ALL. It was the complete opposite of texting where he went from initiating to just shutting down.

All messages afterwards were just “You’re so gorgeous” etc.

I understand where I currently live it’s a very very strong hook up culture, however, that’s just not for me. I’ve heard hinge is your best bet when it comes to dating apps but I honestly just don’t know.

I’m sorry if I come across as ignorant; I don’t really have any adult women in my life to discuss this with and my friends don’t want to have the same kind of relationships as me. I really would prefer a long term committed relationship that’s built on mutual like rather than lust. I mean if they think I’m hot, great! But I don’t want that to be all that there is to it. Sorry for the ramble, I’m just a bit frustrated.

If anyone has advice I would genuinely appreciate it.

Update on Pet Sitting From Hell

So tldr: everything that went could go wrong went wrong, dog died, major water leak, bears in trash, and other things I’m too tired to think of.

I just got back. My friend I trusted left shit everywhere. There are actual feces everywhere. I am distraught. I feel like this must be my fault though, there’s no way he’s THIS irresponsible right?

I just didn’t potty train my dog well enough. This is on me.

I haven’t slept in nearly two days as I’m back from China. I’m so tired but I’m having to clean dog poop everywhere. He’s walking around barefoot and there is literal droplets of diarrhea everywhere. Every fucking where. On the carpet. I’ve already been cleaning the downstairs for two hours by myself. I still have the upstairs to go. I can’t deal.

Am I the problem? Is this happening because I’m a terrible dog owner? There’s a couple weeks of feces at the very least, he claims he’s seen my dog pee and poo when he takes him outside. How could he live like this?

I don’t know. I’ve already sobbed. I haven’t even processed being in the house without my other dog yet. Why is this happening?

There are literal dead flies next to the solid shit on the carpet.

I always thought he was so mature and kind. What is this? Is this normal? Can you be this desensitized?

My hands literally burn from the amount of detergent and chemicals I’m having to use.

Edit: My father has now informed me that one of the rugs covered in shit is worth 25k. I can’t even fucking begin to imagine.

He hasn’t even apologized. Not even once.

Thank you all for all of the makeup advice!!!! I am so grateful, I have been trying different looks according to tips given! (I’ll include the original posts first pic at the end!)

I’ve been traveling so please ignore the different lightings and messy backgrounds.

So I curled my lashes, used brown mascara (Kiss Me brand), started matching my blush and lipstick, contoured (albeit mostly my nose), highlighted inner corners and tried some liner to give a soft wing, I used gel and an eyebrow pencil then pinched the end of my eyebrows, high lighter, and a tinted sunscreen. I also stopped lining my lips all the way and I went for a cooler/coral (I honestly don’t know) tone! Oh and a bit of purple shampoo to try to get the bronze out of my hair since people mentioned the warm color of my hair was clashing with my skin tone.

Thank you!

How do you find sober friends in college?

I’m honestly really lonely, as while I have friends; they make it seem as though every time we hang out we have to drink or else why hang out? I’m in college so I get that’s kind of the point but I literally just want to spend time with my friends and not have to worry about buying alcohol or dealing with vomit. The clean up from these hangouts suck as well as while they say they will help, they always leave like at most an hour after I wake up. I just want people I can chill, play board games with, and watch movies. I don’t even like to drink as I’ve been roofied before and it completely turned me off of it.

When I was a freshman I enjoyed it, but now I just want to relax. I like makeup and going out; I just don’t like alcohol and don’t think everything needs alcohol.

My birthday is Sunday and my friend pretty much implied she didn’t want to hangout as she had appointments early on Monday and couldn’t drink bcs she would have to drive home. I just wanted to watch movies man.

Pet sitting from hell, hired friend off rover and it’s just been a disaster

Just for reference, I do not blame him or believe any of this is his fault, it’s just has been a series of unfortunate mistakes and other people causing major issues.

First week of pet sitting, my elderly dog died. She had a heart attack, he messages and called and I’m in China, I luckily responded but nothing we could do.

Second week, bears started getting into the trash NONSTOP. I think the latch is broken. Apparently one of my neighbors got fed up because the trash was being taken out on time but not at 7am in the morning.

Third week, my friend stayed over (she got permission from him and I said that was fine). She trashed the place, housekeepers came and charged an extra 350. (It’s separate compartments of the house, there’s a full basement apartment she stayed in). She didn’t know they were coming so that was just great.

Fourth week, my other dog has the squirts. He has a sensitive stomach so I wasn’t worried and said chicken and rice. He had ptsd tho and was like, PLS let me take him to the emergency vet and I was like, ok, if it soothes your mind. Almost was charged 900 usd until I told him absolutely no to the specialized diet they were trying to push, chicken and rice will work, it has in the past and it did.

This week, water bill came, 3,000 usd. Water pipe to sprinklers burst underground.

Just crazy. I feel terrible he had to deal with all of this and it’s just event after event. I’m honestly worried this will hurt our friendship, he took a very fair price (on my end) and I’m wondering how much should I tip him extra for all of this bullshit and honestly trauma he’s had to deal with

Edit: I am grieving my dog. I have woken up at night wailing and have had constant dreams of disbelief, seeing her running at my grandmother’s house (who she used to stay with) and being told that she was just lost and he didn’t want to tell me. I still cry when I mention or even think of her. I loved her and I tried to be a good mama. I hold so much guilt that I wasn’t there to say goodbye at the end and that I didn’t give her a snuggle before I left. It kills me, do NOT misunderstand. I am coping by task focusing and if I don’t then I am dying.

Makeup advice? Something feels missing and would love advice

Like I just feel like I could do better. This is the look I’m most comfortable with at the moment however I still feel like I could do more. What am I missing? (I know my face is unsymmetrical, one of my eyes is naturally more squinted than the other).

Just received a 3k water bill, the water hose was leaking outside. [CO]

My landlord is responsible for all outdoor repairs and care. Now there’s apparently been a massive leak we missed (I have a house sitter there but have been gone for a month).

What do you do in this situation? For goodness sake, 3k???

Edit: Wasn’t a water hose. It looks like a pipe may have burst underground.

I’m currently in Asia thinking of getting lash extensions, does anyone have tips on styles that suit hooded eyes?

u/WorkingHardPlayHar6 — 4 months ago

Visiting Shenzhen and would love to get my lashes done

Please let me know if you have any recommendations for locations! I would really appreciate it, as it’s much more affordable everywhere but the country I come from (for the most part lol).

So far I’ve gone to coco park, tanglang mountain, a massage place that was amazing, and I’m open to any other recommendations!

Today I’m going to a 24 hour spa!

*Edit: I just realized I forgot to explain what kind of lashes, I mean lash extensions, the manga/fairy tail style if possible. Sorry, I’ve tried to research and have reached out to a couple of people via rednote but haven’t received any responses.
