Tap-to-pay isn't working with my new card.

Today I had my wallet stolen, so I had to cancel my card and get it replaced. Once I got all the information for it and transferred it to Google Wallet (so I wouldn't have no way of buying anything. My bank told me to do this), every time I scan my phone to purchase something at a shop, the screen reads something like "TRY AGAIN", and the card reader says it could not read my card.

I have phoned my bank about this, and they say there are no blocks on my account or anything. I have also reset my phone, but nothing changed.

EDIT: Uninstalled/reinstalled the app, then removed/readded my card. It seems to be working now

Conned into Mottes and Baileys

For context, a Motte-and-Bailey fallacy is when someone has a very bold, objectively unpopular and hard-to-argue position, which they say within peers who hold that same position, but switch to a lightened, often very sane-washed version of that position when someone who disagrees challenges them on it.

However, what I constantly see people forget is that people have to push the bailey before it can be called out as a Motte-and-Bailey. Half the time I see someone claim M&B, the person/side they're arguing said literally nothing wrong and the guy just made up crazy desires/ideologies they supposedly follow.

Coaxed into soundtrack rippers forgetting about how Youtube compression works (AUDIO ON)

For context, Youtube automatically compresses videos a little during uploads to save space on the platform, meaning your videos are gonna look and sound a little worse than, say, if you were to play them in VLC Media Player before uploading.

Some video game companies such as Nintendo don't take kindly to people uploading their games' music if they're monetising the videos or otherwise benefiting off traffic that comes with uploading their stuff. As such, a lot of Nintendo music gets taken down online.

However, sometimes people will come along and reupload videos from these soundtrack rippers who got taken down. This is all well and good, but they typically don't bother re-ripping the audio from the game and just use the audio from the vid that got taken down. Said audio already got compressed once from being uploaded to Youtube, and NOW it gets compressed a second time, so it sounds even worse.

And then that channel gets taken down and someone else comes along and reuploads their videos... without reripping the audio. So that audio that's already gone through Youtube compression twice now goes through it for a third time.

After a while, every upload of any song from the game eventually just starts to sound like this.

An opinion I formed since playing Macbeth when the remake came out:

I really don't hate how the Forever Train engineer delivers the line "I can't stop it!" as he realises his train has been rerouted to the fuel bunker.

Like, it gives me the vibe that the engineer isn't concerned with the fact that he's about to get vapourised, and he's more concerned that if the train impacts at full speed, it will result in disastrous consequences for Venomian forces, costing them lots of resources. Like, he's THAT devoted to Andross.

The problem lies in two areas: For one, the original version of the line. In that version, it's clear that when the engineer shouts "I can't STOP IIIIIIIIIITTT!", he is in complete and utter terror, dealing with the fact that in mere seconds, his life is forfeit. Most people are gonna be familiar with the delivery in that specific game, and some might have the incorrect assumption that the 2026 voice actor, Erik Braa, was shown the original voice clip and context and was told to repeat that, and so he said "Yeah, I can repeat the delivery of that line, no problem! Ahem... 'I can't stop it!'" When in reality, he was likely told to act as if the engineer was more concerned about Venomian supplies than his own life. Especially since once the engineer's Gamechat avatar is unlocked, you can see he has what are likely metal eyeballs. Someone who'd get implants like that from Andross himself must be very devoted to him.

Secondly, and this is what I think is the biggest thing that puts people off the new line delivery; the animation of the engineer when he says "I can't stop it!"

Once he's done with the line, he resumes a neutral expression and just turns his head from side to side, as if he's browsing Reddit on dual-monitors or something. I personally think that if the animators had the engineer grit his teeth and the voice director had the VA make a frustrated grunt after the line, their intent would have come across a lot more clearly.

Like, the whole scene reminded me of the scene in the Pokemon anime where Hunter J's ship is hit by a Future Sight attack and she is killed off for real. She tries to maintain control, and just growls in frustration instead of freaking out when it becomes clear there's nothing she can do to salvage things. A villain doesn't necessarily have to go down screaming in terror, and it was done well in that clip.

The scene of the train crashing into the depot has a clear departure from the tone it was going for in the N64 version. In that game, the music completely cuts out, leaving us with the engineer freaking out, soiling himself, and screaming desperately for the train to stop in a thick southern accent as he crashed into the depot, so it's explicitly played for comedy. In the latest version, the dramatic music continues as the engineer calls to stop the train, and it results in a dramatic crescendo once it immolates the supply depot. So it's essentially a dying moment of awesome for the engineer, as he was outsmarted, but tried his hardest to prevent disaster for his side and didn't lose his cool to the end...

I don't think the remake's version of the scene is as bad as it's made out to be, but I do think some improvements could have been made.

My high-end pre-built PC is constantly freezing with a hard audio loop.

My PC has an issue where it will lock up with a hard audio loop at random times with absolutely no pattern whatsoever. If the controller I have plugged into it was rumbling at the time of the crash, it continues to rumble throughout. It doesn't seem to matter what software I'm running, as this has happened while browsing Reddit.

Every time, it requires me to hold the power button to get it switched off, and it happens regardless as to whether my PC is playing audio to loop or not. I have sent this thing back to the store for repairs already with a video of the crash as proof, and they said they could not find any problems with it. This means I cannot get it replaced if not fixed within seven days, since they need to know there's an issue first.

It's also plugged directly into the wall instead of in an extension lead, so I've tried that.
