Strong is my buddy atm and every time we visit Croup Manor he says "Strong feels strange. Like someone is watching" and I could't work out why.

I'd cleared the basement.

I'd gone around the peninsula and killed every mirelurk, hatchling, and ghoul.

I kill all the robots every time they spawn.

I hadn't yet put up a recruitment beacon so there's no settlers.

Finally, >!I walked down at the rocky waterline between the chapel and the ruined house to the NW of it and a Mirelurk Queen welcomed me to her home! !<

And Strong hasn't made the comment since! Thought I'd share in case his comment was bugging anyone else

I've just made "ice cream" and the taste is fantastic but the texture is bad.

It's a simple recipe I made up based on a few I've seen:

2 packets of lemon Jello instant pudding, 3 cans of coconut cream, and a tablespoon of sugar.

I blended it together, then poured it into my ice cream maker.

As I said, the taste is really really nice, but the texture is almost like I added sand to it!

Anyone know what went wrong and how I fix it for next time?

Did I simply not blend for long enough, or should I have heated the coconut cream first or something?

tl;dr Have any of you been told that figs are a trigger/allergen for your EOE?

Fresh figs are one of my absolute favourite fruits, and rarely are they available and they go from underripe to spoilt quicker than avocado.
Soooo when they are available, I tend to buy a big bag of them and overindulge, like I did tonight 😬.

A couple of the figs were a bit underripe but I didn't let that stop me haha. Now my lips and tongue are tingly and kinda burny.
This is caused by a proteolytic enzyme in the figs (particularly underripe ones).
It's happened before, and since I haven't noticed any other symptoms, they are a favourite food, the reaction doesn't last long, and they're not available often, I've just ignored it tbh. (Probably not the wisest of choice, I know, but here we are).

BUT this is the first time I've eaten them since my EoE diagnosis, so now I'm collecting dots I just don't know if I'm connecting the right dots (and can't get in to see an allergist for another few months)

I'm wondering if the protease, ficain, in figs could be a contributing allergen/trigger for my EoE. Nothing I can find makes mention of it all, everything keeps losing the same ol' main food allergens. But I know EOE has not had a great deal of research or scientific attention, so a lack of data is not conclusive as a lack of association.

Have any of you been diagnosed having figs as a trigger/allergen causing your EoE? Or suspect it may be so?

I'm doing the SFED, so no dairy, no wheat, no soy, no nuts, no seafood, and no eggs.

Ofc I know that cooking from scratch is always the good standard. But I hate cooking, am time poor, there's a heat wave, and I have no air conditioning.

Please help me by telling me your favourite food products and snacks to buy from either Costco or Amazon that fit SFED?

And if they're an "ingredient", what do you do with them?

Do you have a favourite quick and easy recipe for homemade SFED-friendly vanilla/caramel icecream, and/or one for a simple SFED-friendly alternative to Greek yogurt?

I'll start by offering:

Costco:

Rotisserie chicken and bagged salad kits (throwing out the dressings and toppings- more expensive than buying the base veg ingredients, but a great time saver!). I'll shred the chicken, reheat it, then toss it through the salad, add some mashed avocado with lime zest, and grated carrot.

Hummus and Guacamole (separately, not a mix haha): Great to have as a snack using them as a dip with some rice crackers, but also good on a few rice cakes with sliced tomato, a few baby spinach leaves, and some of the shredded rotisserie chicken as an easy dinner.

Amazon:

VGAN brand milk chocolate. Not exact but the damn closest I've found to tasting like "real" milk chocolate!

JonnyPop freezer pops. Perfect little treat for hot days. (Difficult to only have one and not like ten, though).

In HZD, the corruptor arrows had some nuance to getting them to work efficiently, but they were super useful!

In HFW, I can't get berserk arrows to work at all, and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong*.

I always fire them from stealth, at a target pretty far away from me, and with other machines around it (next to it and/or between it and me).

I've tried targeting large, medium, and small machines, with larger or smaller machines around it.

I've even tried them on human enemies.

I've tried staying in the same hiding spot after firing.

I've tried firing to build up saturation when then creeping away to a different & further away hiding spot.

I've tried firing to build up saturation and then running the fuck away completely out of sight.

I've tried it in difficult, normal, easy, and story level difficulties (jic there's a finesse to it that I'm failing to grasp!)

Sometimes, they'll immediately aggro at me (despite me being stealth and in hiding).

Sometimes they'll stand there doing nothing for half the countdown time and then aggro at me (despite me being stealth and in hiding).

Occasionally, another machine will attack it once towards the end of its timer, then they'll both aggro at me as soon as the timer rings out (despite me being stealth and in hiding).

But the vast majority of the time they will stand there, doing nothing at all, til the timer runs out.

Am I missing a step?

Did I miss a pop up instruction that explains something I'm not doing?

*This is not my first playthrough, and I've never succeeded in getting them to work the way they are described. I've wasted so much time and resources this playthrough trying to work it out!

I just noticed that Ceo in Landfall is described by Bohai as "the first Ceo in five generations". Why would this be- Did I miss that being revealed?

In their Faro-worship wouldn't the Quen issue that title every generation?

If you were the solo parent of an upper high school kid, and found out you were going to die in under six months, what would you do for them? (Other than the financial) As in things to make to leave for them, experiences while you're still here etc

Over the last year, I have noticed a considerable decrease in people using indicators when turning or merging.

I don't believe we have had a huge influx of people from Bhutan, who weren't updated on our road rules, and I can't imagine there are that many new-looking cars with defective indicators inside unbroken taillights.

I also have never found it even slightly difficult or annoying to use my indicator

So what's going on??

Even if people are getting suddenly much more inconsiderate, it's still a non-optional, legal requirement and endangers them as much as anyone else.

And if you are one of those people who haven't been remembering your basic driving skills, please make an extra effort to improve. You can do it!

*I feel a bit weird posting such a general criticism, but I really don't get it. I hope we can do better to make the road safer for each other

I'm loving how like half of the characters/NPCs in HZD and HFW neurodivergent (either very obviously or fairly likely).

Not only is it nice to see (as a person with neurodivergence myself) but I love how it makes sense that there would be a higher percentage in the population than in our population, particularly autism spectrum disorder.

Cos even though they said they did save DNA from a wide range of people, but consider how rushed the whole project was and how the human population was very quickly being eradicated!

I think it's safe to hazard the guess that the majority of the DNA would have come from the scientists and experts they recruited.

Weirdly enough (/s) there is overrepresentation of ND people in specialised fields of science and tech, and people who are focused enough on one thing to become experts in an academic field.

I don't know if it was deliberate on the part of the developers, I assume it was considering the effort they put into world building, but if not, it was at least a happy coincidence!

I just had a dead bird I'd shot down, keep blowing away from me every time I tried to loot it on the ground.

Because the wind was really strong and birds don't with me l much and are pretty much designed to catch the air.

Annoying as hell 😅

But, my god, I love the attention to detail and realism* in this game!! ♥️ Just such a small thing to bother coding into the game, but all those little things add so much

*As realistic as a fantasy, post apocalyptic game about machine animals, rogue AIs, and intergalactic villains can be anyway haha

I have a purchased/basic Dogmeat commander deck (I love Fallout4), so I can play with my daughter who loves MTG and it's...not very good.

It is quite unbalanced and weak so it hasn't been that fun for her to play against. If I don't get the few good cards out very early, it just gets destroyed reeeeally quickly.

I wanted to surprise her by "fixing" the deck* so it's more fun and challenging for her to play against

BUT I don't know how to make decks, and don't really even know where to start.

(Don't hate me, but I don't enjoy MTG. I play so that I can spend time with my daughter, doing something she enjoys. So spending hours researching and learning isn't something I really want to do, and not something I really have time for tbh. I do know a bit about the game from having had uni friends who played, and from my daughter- enough to play, not enough to design)

Which is why I need your help! (please?)

How do I help you to help me?

Do I need to list all the cards that are in the deck?

Do I need to list the cards that I find really helpful in the deck?

It's a Green/White/Red deck, and I'd like to keep it as Fallout themed as possible, but not essential for it to be exclusively so ofc.

Tmk, it's mainly built around adding artifact equipment and auras to creatures.

Because I find the "if this, then that" cascades confusing and hard to remember, I prefer cards that just power up and protect my cards overtly, rather than trigger other cards which trigger other cards etc.

I love Dogmeat and the gutsy robots, I'm not very interested in the human characters.

BUT the "Cait Cage Brawler" card is one of the best (definitely a better card than Dogmeat, if I'm being honest) so I'm definitely not against humans, just adding the preference/comment in case it helps with suggestions- Plus, I don't think there will be enough of the gutsy robots to avoid humans anyway!

(And some of the available robots in the Fallout series aren't the right colour, so wouldn't work, eg. Curie is a blue card)

Also in case it helps for ideas:

In the Fallout4 video game, I am a Railroad/Minuteman player, and I also find the super mutants amusing. (I don't like the BoS or The Institute!). In real life, I love animals.

*My daughter makes her own decks: she puts a lot of effort into researching cards online and copies them to blank playing cards. She does a great job at making good, fair, balanced mid-tier decks.

Actual price of physical cards doesn't matter, just as long as the cards work and are fair. I won't be buying cards, I'd just copy the good cards and lands of the deck on to blank playing cards, replacing the cards that don't do much with better ones you suggest.

Does anyone know if Costco rotisserie chicken is okay on the Six food elimination diet*?

I assume no, since it doesn't list what the flavours and additives are, but thought I'd ask in hope, jic, since it's such a cheap and easy option.

Alternatively, from Albertsons/Safeway or Whole foods, which are also available to me (but more expensive than Costco)

Is there any way to turn off Aloy's voice prompts? I still enjoy her general dialogue, I just want to actually be able to solve puzzles myself and not have her constantly spoiling.

I'm playing HFW again, and am really getting annoyed by Aloy's spoilers.

I barely even walk into an area before she tells me how to solve the puzzle I hadn't even seen yet.

It definitely takes away some of the fun.

And it's worse than in HZD (which I just finished replaying again)

Just wondering if anyone knows if there's a known link between blood clots and EOE?

Anyone else with EOE have a history of blood clots that didn't have an identifiable cause?

About two years ago, I went to the ER for tachycardia that wouldn't stop, and found out I was pretty riddled with blood clots (multiple bilateral pulmonary embolisms and a bunch of DVTs in one leg).

Despite testing, no cause was identified.

Fast forward to now, when I've just been diagnosed with fairly clinically advanced EOE with very high eosinophils, after worsening impaction and reflux.

I have read that Hypereosinophilia can cause blood clotting. EOE is not Hypereosinophilia (and tmk blood draw WBC levels will usually be normal with EOE) but there are obviously excessive localized eosinophils in the esophagus.

I guess I'm just wondering if I have found the cause of my clotting event, and am asking myself if I am now higher risk for reoccurrence 🤔

I have just found that the vantage points have an entire journal page connected to each one in addition to the short audio!! Oh my goodness, this is like my fifth or sixth play-through!

Thought I'd share in case anyone else thought they were only the audio recordings, as there's a lot more to Bashar Mati's story.

Does anyone know why the vantage points are out of order in the collectibles sets?

(As in why isn't Set 1=Days 1-4, Set 2=Days 5-8, and Set 3=Days 9-12, and instead the days are all jumbled in the sets in the Collectibles even though you can collect them in any order?)

It's kinda annoying, since it seems to me to detract from his story since the continuity is broken- unless there's a reason I haven't read yet?

I was thinking about 7d2d today and how unique the 7d2d zombie virus is.

(Just thinking of the basic zombies. not even considering the weirder variants)

It only reanimated people who were identical nonuplets (or more) who had the same occupation as their identical siblings.

It.triggered immediate and severe agoraphobia, in most of those infected, making them hide in ridiculous tiny spaces that a normal person wouldn't be in,

AND it vastly increased structural analytic skills allowing the infected to easily pinpoint the weakest points of a building.

Very unique!

Makes one wonder what they were actually trying to achieve when they [?accidentally] created the virus/zombies!

I live in WA, which has trans supportive laws. Which is ofc in the USA, which aymk federally is not at all trans tolerant.

My teen trans daughter would like to change her name and would like to legally change her gender, as well.

She will be graduating high school in the nearish future and I love for her to be able to start her adult life with her real identity.

I'm fully supportive of her being who she is, just concerned about *gestures around vaguely and sadly*

What's your opinion on the safety of that atm?

Would it be better to just legally change her name for now, and change gender once we have our country back and it's safer again?

Or would be harder to do separately later on, without changing her name at the same time?

If we change both, can we change the sex on her passport? (...current govt)

Or would she be stuck with her state ID and passport not matching? And if so, would that be problematic?

I have a chosen name (for non-gender reasons), and absolutely hate when I'm called my legal name or I have to use it used (cos I haven't been able to afford to change mine yet). But I'm cis, and I can only imagine how much worse it would be to have gender dysphoria and discrimination amplifying that, so I really want to help her lose her dead name as soon as possible.
