Is this tail for or just discolored from him shedding and maybe getting dirt on it ? I picked him up and he could the end of his tail just fine.

I am currently upgrading my male green keel-bellied lizard to a 2x2x4 ft enclosure and I know these guys can be kept in pairs and are more social. Should I get him a female? I know i definitely can’t get another male.
