World's best turkey soup

1 onion halved

1 head of garlic halved

1 granny smith apple quartered

4 celery sticks

4 carrots

Roasted turkey parts (spine, neck, and pope's nose)

Peppercorns

2 tbs dried chili flakes

2 tbs dried thyme

1 bunch fresh rosemary

1 bunch fresh sage

1 oz apple cider vinegar

Combine all ingredients and submerge in cold water. Let sit for 20 minutes (the apple cider vinegar breaks down the bones and releases gelatin and minerals into the broth).

Simmer on low for 8 to 10 hours or put in pressure cooker for 4 hours.

Strain broth and salt to taste.

It's hard to say exactly how old Muchacho is. Maybe 17.

Tough little guy. He was abandoned when neighbors moved and lived outdoors for about 7 years before he showed up again at my parents' house wanting to come in. Now, he still spends a lot of time patrolling the neighborhood, but he spends his nights and winters on a warm, cozy cat bed in what used to be my room.

Trying to restore this standing ashtray/lamp but the base holding the center pole is broken in two places.

Is there a way to MacGyver this without sending it to a welder? The whole thing weighs about 8 lbs, so I don't think it'll go through any significant strain. I think the metal is brass. It's heavy and non-magnetic, and there are two markings on the base (M 11, MN11)

Standing ashtray update.

All pieces washed and unusable materials trashed. Did a magnet test and thankfully, all decorative and ornamental metal pieces (left) are not magnetic and those that are (right) are either hidden or in decent shape.

Next up, polishing metal.

I found this standing ashtray being thrown out and I want to try restoring it. Need advice.

I'm really captivated by this piece and I'd like to put it somewhere in my home but I have no experience with restorations.

This piece has some kind of lighting element to it, there are two switches, one on the top and one on the bottom but the wires are too dry and cracked up to safely plug it in, so I can't tell where it would light up. The entire thing is loose and wobbly, It's full of bugs and old cobwebs and the metal is tarnished. There is no manufacturer mark on it, this might be a homemade piece

The plan is to take it apart, clean it, rewire the lights and make the metal shine again.

How do I identify the metal to know how to properly buff it and polish it? What are some resources I can use to talk me through rewiring?

Thanks

Best chip and dip combo of all time. Debate all you want, you would be wrong.

Of all the chips and all the dips I've ever tried. This is the best combo by far.

RIP my allergies. These things are everywhere. They even started a small fire near the Rona on Sherbrooke.
