Looking for a monitor for no more than $4-450.

Good morning everyone, my family and I will be moving soon and I have the chance to upgrade my gaming set up. I’m currently using a bargain bin HP monitor that we got from Walmart. I have an older Samsung c27jg50qq 1440 monitor that I use for work because the display port is fried. I love that Samsung and would gladly use it if the display port wasn’t going out because it’s got hands-down. The best picture I’ve ever owned in a monitor. I think that’s mainly due it to it being glossy.

Can I get some recommendations on a good 1440p monitor that will have a picture at least comparable to the Samsung that caps out around $400 to $450? Their fresh rate doesn’t have to be super high because my PC currently has a 3070 in it. I’ll mainly be using it for PS five but I plan to play my PC again too. If there’s a good 4K panel in my price range, I’ll take a look at that as well. I just figured 4K was too much to ask.

Thank you in advance.

Edit to add: Bonus points if it would be a decent option to hook, retro consoles up through an HDMI input. That’s the primary reason why I’m going with 2K over 4K.

Help finding the closest (and cheapest) modern equivalent

Good evening everyone. I have one of these Samsung c27jg50qq monitors I bought what feels like a lifetime ago. It’s hands down my favorite monitor I’ve ever owned and have bought several newer monitors for gaming and have returned all of them. I currently use it for work because the DisplayPort goes black when you first boot it up. It comes on after 20 minutes or so. HDMI works fine though.

The picture for games has always been phenomenal. The blacks are deep, the color is vibrant and it doesn’t have the haze that so many other monitors I’ve tried have. My understanding is that’s the matte vs glossy screen. The 1440p was a game changer for me when I got it.

I am at a point where it’s time to get a new gaming monitor and I’d like to get something that’s either equivalent to this, or significantly better for$3-400. What specs should I look for to get something equivalent? The monitor doesn’t have to have a crazy high refresh rate because I’m still running an RTX 3070 and do most of my gaming on a PS5. Higher than 60 fps is preferable though. An equivalent or better picture is mandatory. 2k is my target resolution because I also plan to play some retro consoles and 480 scales to 1440 better than 4k.

Thank you all.

Would it be possible to only take the left fork of this tree?

Good evening, I was hoping for some opinions. We are buying a house and there’s a tree in the backyard near the fence line where the left fork has died. It splits approximately 8 to 10 feet off the ground. The majority of the canopy in our yard is made up of the other fork of this tree. The fork that died has absolutely no foliage on it while the other fork looks extremely healthy in my uneducated opinion. Would it be possible to only take the dying fork without unduly risking the rest of the tree? We think it’s 80-100 ft.

Quick sight question for a p226

.

Good evening gents (and ladies if there are any). I have a quick question. A few months back I did a p226 conversion where I took a 40 cal DAK police trade in and converted it to DA/SA 9mm with a new slide, barrel and recoil spring. I’ve taken it to the range a few times and every time, it’s hitting very high. Like, 2-3” at 10 yards high. It almost seems like the sights were set up for a 6 o’clock hold vs a combat or center hold. The sights are only really “on” at around 3-5 yards. I understand that some people like the 6 o’clock hold but it’s not for me.

The slide came from eBay. It’s a legion slide with sights that are marked TG-H3 with a small stamped 8 on the front and rear. That should be the correct sighting setup for a 9mm right?

Or since the frame started as a 40, should I use a #6 sight in the front?

Thank you in advance.

Butterfree OP need nerf

My butterfree just solo’d Koga and she doesn’t even have psychic. She was passaging her way through. Muk was a bit of a pain, but we still took him down. Moral of the story is, when you find a Modest caterpie, use it.

Just finished Hackers memory for the first time. I have a few thoughts.

There’s three main thoughts I have at the end of this game. I’ll do my best to avoid spoilers.

  1. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

  2. did anyone else get a headache from the final battles background? The background was cool as hell, but it flashed a bit too much for me. I legit couldn’t tell who I was targeting half the time and sank a few attacks into the wrong enemy. It legit gave me a migraine.

  3. does anyone else think Ryuji acted a little weird at the end? Obviously I’m. It going to spoil anything but Ryuji’s emotions didn’t seem to fit well.

Are any of these carts fakes? If so, which ones? I’m reasonably certain the GBC carts are real, as well as the ruby that doesn’t have a sticker. Idk about any of the rest. I’ll make another post with the rest.

Please help me understand what we have. My wife inherited some Rosenthal Germany China from a family member. I’ve tried searching for the set but can’t find a good match. Is there a better sub where I could post this?

I mainly want to know if this is something we need to be more careful with. We have been leaving a few pieces out as display and I’ve been worried about them getting broken a few times.

Now that the 19 Gen 6 has been out for a bit, how are people liking it for ccw? Does anyone carry it at 3 o’clock? And does the beaver tail bother anyone while carrying?

I’m weighing my options in getting a 19 gen 6 or staying with my shield plus. Obviously the gen 6 is a step up in terms of size and weight but I’m wondering if the increase in shoot ability is worth it. I used to carry a full size m&p so I’m not too worried about it. What I’m mainly wondering is whether anyone who carries 3-4 o’clock has had the beaver tail dig in at all? I prefer to wear my gun anytime I’m not in bed so comfort is a concern.

Looking for p226 mecgars.

Does anyone know of any 18 round mecgar p226 mags in stock anywhere? I’ve been clicking on different websites for 20 minutes looking and everywhere is out of stock. Everyone has the goofy looking 20 rounders but I prefer the flat baseplate.

How many issues with a carry gun is “too many”?

Evening. I’ve been working up a shield plus with a CTS-1550 red dot and a TLR-6 as my carry gun. I’ve had the gun for a while but never shot it much. I decided to start carrying this because it’s small enough for me to carry it all day and never get too uncomfortable.

In shooting it more, I’ve had two major malfunctions. Neither has caused the gun to not shoot, but both have made takedown impossible. First, the takedown lever spring popped out of its channel, locking up the slide. Now, the locking block pin has walked out, preventing the takedown lever from swinging all the way down.

Both of these are easy fixes, but both occurred after back to back range sessions of ~200 rounds each. At what point would you lose faith in the gun? At this point I’m considering selling it to buy something else. Would you keep repairing it, RMA it or ditch it for something else?
