Watermelon

I’m 30 years old, never had an allergy in my life. All of a sudden, we had a hot stretch every day last week was in the 90’s and I ate basically nothing but watermelon, it was on sale and I bought three of them. First one wasn’t an issue, the second two were from a different batch, I chopped them up put them in the fridge and before I went to bed had a few pieces. Felt like they got stuck in my throat every time I tried to swallow. Stayed like that for a few days, started to get better…still had all that watermelon. Had some more, instantly that feeling was back. Im thinking I’m allergic to watermelon and I never knew it because I never ate that much much before. I’m one day 2 no watermelon and it seems to be getting better again.

Watermelon

A few days ago I ate a piece of watermelon before bed and it felt like it was stuck in the lower part of my throat. I couldn’t get it to go away, certain times it was more noticeable than others. Then I had more watermelon today and I noticed it really bad again. At first I thought it was actually getting stuck, now I’m thinking I might be allergic to it and it’s causing swelling. How long could that swelling realistically last if I cut out the watermelon?

Watermelon

I was on a watermelon kick for a few days, it’s been super hot and I bought three watermelons and I’ve been eating them up. Three days ago I ate a piece before bed and it felt like maybe a seed or something got stuck in my throat. Hasn’t gone away, started to get a little better, tried the watermelon again because I have so much of it still…and it’s back in full effect. What is with watermelon that’s causing this?

A gentleman in Moscow [spoiler]

To those who’ve read the book. I found at the end of each of the five parts, they wrapped everything up nicely. I especially like the end of part two, when the count was about to jump from the metropol and was stopped by the handyman, who told him the bees had returned. It was a nice callback to the black apple story he told Anna earlier, with the bee’s having traveled to his home town and brought back the honey that tasted of apples. And then the next part he started his life a new as a waiter and with a new outlook on life.

In regard to the ending, they really tied everything together, all the little things the count did to set up his escape became clear at the end. But they leave you wondering, what ever happened to Anna and the count. I would’ve liked to of heard the conversation they had at the bar in his old home town. It seemed to have been another call back to the black Apple story, where even at this late stage of his life, he was starting fresh again.

In my mind, the count and Anna moved to America and lived happy ever after with Sophia. Any other thoughts on what might’ve become of them after the end? It was somewhat similar to Nina, you never got any resolution as to what exactly happened, you’re just left to wonder.

Dreams

It’s been 2 years since I last smoked. I can’t believe I’m even saying that, but time flies. To this day, I occasionally will still have dreams, that feel so real, that I will have smoked and immediately regretted it. Most of the time, within the dream I’ll think “don’t worry, it’s just a dream” and feel alleviated. Anyone else have dreams like this at all? They’re some of the realest I’ve ever felt, I noticed I’ll get them if I’m around people smoking that day. I think it’s my subconscious telling me to stay away from it. I had a hard time quitting for a while, and one day it just wasn’t enjoyable to me anymore.

Allergies or Cold?

A guy I work with came in today with a hoarse voice all of a sudden. He sounded fine yesterday, now today he’s all raspy and sniffling. He’s claiming it’s allergies, there’s been a lot of pollen out. I’m keeping my distance regardless. Does his allergy claim sound legit? Do they happen over night like that? I don’t know anything about it, but I have a big trip this weekend and I’m not trying to get sick.
