Made a heart shape roti for my house-help aunty ( this is my first time making rotis)

I know it's not perfect as it's my first time but my heart is full of seeing her happiness.. I feel so delighted about this.. I made it for my maid aunty, she is sweeter than the sweetest honey in the world ❤

Will long curtain bangs work on frizzy/wavy hair without daily styling? (First-time haircut!)

Hey everyone! 👋 Getting the first haircut of my life for uni and I’m terrified. Need advice from anyone with a similar hair type!

My Hair & Features:

Long, heavy, dry, frizzy, and wavy hair.

Round/oval face with a big forehead and less volume at the scalp.

Strict Budget & Routine: Just Shampoo \rightarrow Conditioner \rightarrow Serum on wet hair. No expensive gels/mousses or 10-step curl routines.

What I’m Planning:

A Long U-Shape Cut with Long Curtain Bangs & Soft Layers. I plan to wear it half-up with a small claw clip for college.

My Worries & My Mom's Objections:

Mom says: Curtain bangs on frizzy/wavy hair won't bounce—they’ll just dry messy, frizzy, or flat without a salon blowout.

First-wash fear: Will the shape completely vanish after my first wash at home?

Questions for you:

Has anyone with dry/wavy hair gotten curtain bangs using only basic serum? Do they look good air-dried?

Any cheap/free tricks (like finger-twisting wet hair) to make them curve without heat?

What exact instructions should I give the stylist so they don't chop off my length?

Thank you so much! ❤️

Urgent: Missed NPTEL credit transfer upload deadline on VTOP (4th Year VIT AP) – Will graduation be delayed?

Hi everyone, posting on behalf of my brother who just completed his 4th year at VIT AP.

Here is the situation:

He needed NPTEL credits for his degree requirements.

He wrote the NPTEL exam and passed with an 8.0 CGPA / score equivalent (we even got the official SMS/score card confirmation).

However, he missed the VTOP portal upload deadline (which closed on July 10th).

He just received an email from the university stating that his credits are missing and he won't be cleared for graduation / convocation.

He is panicking thinking he'll be made to repeat a year or lose his degree over an un-uploaded PDF.

Any guidance or past experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance... He is going to the uni now to ask them about this, he literally cried his balls out!!!

"Gentle parenting" isn't a special style. The bar was just set so low by past generations that treating kids like humans looks radical.

I just realized something. "Gentle parenting" shouldn't even be a term. It only exists because the benchmark was set on the floor.Older generations completely normalized treating children (and women) like garbage. Control, fear, and "because I said so" were the baseline. When the kids of those generations grew up, they split into two groups. Some carried the generational trauma and became worst parents, repeating the cycle. But others actively chose to learn from the abuse and became amazing parents.Because treating children like absolute shit was the historical norm, simply treating them normally, listening to them, and giving them basic human respect is now labeled as "gentle parenting." It’s not gentle—it’s just basic decency.

Thank God!! I have good parents!!

When your family is both loving and toxic, staying feels like mental torture and leaving feels like betrayal.

Today I cried a lot over something that sounds stupid when I say it out loud.

We were returning home after dinner and I asked my dad to stop near a place where I once had an ice cream I really liked. He asked me to guide him using Google Maps and I completely fumbled.

My dad laughed it off, but my mom said, "Usko kuch bhi nahi aata, chhod do."

The thing is, this wasn't about Google Maps.

It hurt because I've heard versions of that sentence my whole life. Whenever I fumble while learning something, whether it's tech-related stuff, household work, or literally anything new, I feel like people lose patience with me very quickly.

My brother is better than me at a lot of practical and tech-related things and I have no problem admitting that. But sometimes it feels like my family has already decided that I'm the kind of person who just studies, memorizes things, writes exams and that's it.

What hurts is not being bad at something. What hurts is feeling like the people closest to you have already made up their minds about what you're capable of.

The funny thing is, my mom is actually very supportive. That's why this is so confusing.

Being loved and being understood are two different things.

I don't hate my mom. In fact, I feel guilty even writing this because I don't want people to misunderstand her. But some days I wish the people who love me would try to understand me too.

Does anyone else relate?

When your family is loving but also makes you feel incapable

Today I had a small incident with my family that ended with me crying a lot.

I was trying to guide my dad to a place using Google Maps and I messed up. My mom said something along the lines of "she doesn't know anything anyway." The comment itself wasn't the whole issue. It hurt because it's part of a pattern where I often feel underestimated, especially when I'm learning something new or fumbling through a task.

The confusing part is that my mom is genuinely supportive in many ways. I love her, and I don't see her as a bad person. That's why this hurts so much.

I recently realized that being supportive and being understood are two different things. Sometimes I feel loved, but not understood.

I once heard someone say that when your family is both loving and toxic, staying feels like mental torture and leaving feels like betrayal. That line hit me hard because it describes how conflicted I feel.

I'm not posting this to complain about my mom or make her look bad. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced loving their family deeply while also feeling hurt by them in ways they may never even remember.

And that's the reason I became a gentle and a calm person cuz I became what I couldn't get at times.. If I have to fast forward it to 10 yrs then if I ask her about this incident then ig she'll not remember anything cuz for her it was just a random Saturday but for me it was something memorable.

I admit, My mom is genuinely a sweet person but why does she behave like this at some point of time?

SRM AP - Cyber Security Honest Review Needed from Seniors

Hi seniors,

I took Cyber Security in SRM AP. Need some honest opinions:

Is it worth choosing Cyber Security here (vs core CSE)?

Faculty quality & teaching style?

Are there many like-minded students interested in actual cyber sec?

Placements specifically for Cyber Security roles? Packages & companies?

Workload — how much time for self-study & projects?

Is the environment friendly for management-aspirant friends?

How supportive is the faculty?

Any advice/pros-cons would help. Thanks! 🙏

What should I learn before starting college if I want to build a strong cybersecurity career from a tier 3/4 college?

I just completed all my entrance exams and I’ll most likely be joining a tier 3/4 engineering college for CSE/Cybersecurity.

I have around 40 days before college starts, and instead of wasting them, I want to build a strong foundation early so that I can stay ahead of most students from first year itself.

My goals are:

cybersecurity career,

good internships as early as possible,

strong projects/profile,

and eventually getting into good product-based companies.

For people already in tech/cybersecurity:

what skills should I prioritize first?

which programming language should I start with?

should I focus on DSA first or networking/Linux first?

what would you learn if you were starting from zero again?

what mistakes should I avoid in first year?

I’m ready to work consistently and would really appreciate a roadmap or honest advice.

How much does college tag matter in cybersecurity careers in India?

I’m choosing between engineering colleges right now and I’m confused about how important university brand actually is for cybersecurity careers.

I may end up joining KL University for Cybersecurity/CSE instead of a more recognized private college like VIT because of cost, comfort, and personal reasons.

For people already working in cybersecurity or tech:

how much does college tag matter for internships, off-campus jobs, and resume shortlisting?

does a college like KL become a disadvantage later?

can strong skills/projects/certs compensate for a mid-tier university?

how important are things like CTFs, networking, GitHub, TryHackMe/HackTheBox compared to college name?

I’m willing to work hard and build skills seriously, but I’m scared that my university tag might limit opportunities later.

Would really appreciate realistic advice from people already in the field.
