What Madonna's work and this album represent to me

Hi everyone. I'm 23, young guy, whatever. Live with mom. Single mom. We've been there. She recently lost her job and even though I work and go to school, it ain't enough. Anyways, for the last couple of months, we've been Doordashing and stuff. Our car is old so it only has a CD player. I literally bought Madonna's CDs, Erotica, Celebration, ROL, True Blue, among others, and those albums have been the soundtrack of our life recently.

Her work is really impacting. I always loved her since I was a kid and my mom was a huge fan too. However, I don't know, especially as a queer person, her work is really defining and does make me proud of my orientation and my identity as a person. Recently got her album earlier (shipping things...) and just put it on. It's really good guys. I won't spoil it but honestly, it's among her top 5 best albums of all time. I'm really, really in love with this new album.

Anyways, those were my thought today. HAPPY RELEASE DAY!!!!!!!!

Which MLIS program am I the most compatible with?

Hello everyone! 23M here. I work in a library and have worked in one for over 3 years. Still finishing my Bachelor's at The College of New Jersey (one more semester, yay!) but with that said, I have thought about the future. My major is History... So, gotta think wisely. Law is not it as of now. Which is why people around me have influenced me to go for an MLIS, which I believe I would enjoy, especially for the archival aspects, or simply because I love people and helping out.

With that said, I am in NJ. Rutgers has been recommended to me but... It's so damn expensive. I don't have student loans, thankfully, but as a first-generation, I also don't have people that would help me with that kind of money, nor I want to be in loans forever (especially as we know our industry pretty well). It would be online, 100%.

If it helps, I am interested in three industries/positions: archiving, cataloging, or law librarianship.

Which is why I've been thinking about different options.

  1. University of Alabama: cheapest option, probably the one I would absolutely go for have it not be for the fact I wanted to see whether other programs are worth it. My favorite so far. It has an archiving concentration. It's also cheap. Secondary-wise, now I can finally have a say in college football season... Maybe.
  2. Rutgers: NJ's flagship state school. I would still have to pay and from what it seems, it's pretty expensive. My boss have told me that they offer up to half the tuition off or even full tuition aid. Now, I don't know about that, but I also happen to be on the "under represented" category in the library industry, being Hispanic and first-generation and also trilingual. I don't know if that's beneficial scholarship-wise. Additionally, it's my state and it would help me here but... It's a lot of money. A LOT. Expensive. And as much as I love libraries... I don't think the amount of debt would be worth it for the same ALA-accredited degree.
  3. University at Buffalo: close to it regionally, additionally being a tad bit cheaper than Rutgers but like, still a bit more expensive than Alabama. I was researching and it has a law librarianship concentration, which is quite interesting. There's a joint degree too with a JD... But I got to find more information about it. I haven't researched more about this program, but from what I've found, it seems okay. Then again... I don't know if paying that much more and being in more debt is worth it compared to Alabama.
  4. University of Maryland: my professor's daughter said she loves the program and apparently has a joint program for an MA in History... This is among the most expensive programs out there. I don't know.
  5. University of Washington: Best MLIS Law program. Most expensive MLIS with Syracuse. Don't know if it's worth it. When I say I'm poor, I mean it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much!

Anyone knows what happened to VertexMovies? Any substitution?

Best site I've ever used. So sad it stopped working. Anyone knows what to do now or which one to use? That site was the best because it simply worked with ad-blocker, had a lot of available collection, and I just think it was a great substitute after what happened with Kipflix. If anyone knows a better site, please share again, or if anyone has the Discord of VertexMovies, I'm interested. Thank you again!

Is there any software or website to practice speaking/listening specifically?

Hello everyone. This post may be annoying and I do apologize in advance if it does. With that said, my mother is learning English (her native language is Spanish). She speaks okay, she can understand it but she wants to practice speaking and listening more. We live in the United States too but due to time, she can't join any clubs or groups that can help her practice, so I was wondering if there was a software for that. I am all against AI, I myself am very anti-AI, but even then, if there is a website that allows her, irrelevant of whether it uses that or not, I wouldn't mind but, I was wondering if anyone knows anything like that that can allow for her to speak. We can't afford italki or English tutors. Any help would be quite appreciated! Thank you!

Merci d'avance ..

How about instead of Expansion Packs you make more special careers?

I'm so done with these expansion packs that don't add to the game. Truth is I feel mad that I've been playing this game for so long and there hasn't been any update towards the special careers. It's like all the special careers are now becoming expansion packs because the difference is that for expansion packs you need to buy one individually.

There are more types of music, like electronic, or more sports to be added for athlete. Why is boxing not even on the sports and just an expansion pack? It seems redundant and like a complete cash-grab (which it is).

Just venting. I don't want to buy more expansion packs. I bought the BitCitizen and G*d Mode in like 2020, so it was cheaper, but I don't get to have free updates either so there's that. I wanted to play the boxing thing but I don't think it's worth it anymore.

How do I get added to the Discord server?

Ever since the creation of this server, I've literally been lurking. I got banned from the other subreddit like months ago (literally no reason). Does anyone have this server's Discord? I remember there being one but I can't find a link 😭

Anyone willing to share a Criterion Channel account with me?

Hello! I don't know if this is against the rules. I'm currently a college student. I was wondering whether someone (either 2-3 or 4) would like to share one Criterion Channel account? We can all divide the price and each pay cheap for one whole account. I don't mind sharing an account, just wish there were different sets of prices that we can pay depending on what plan we have. In any case, just comment down below if you're interested! I'm very down! Thank you again!

Anyone have a Discord server I can join?

I need a server. I can’t join one group in person. I think I need a sponsor or something. Does anyone have one? I’ve never done AA meetings but I’m sorber for over a year and I don’t want to relapse because I’m feeling like it and I feel so out of character and this song I’m listening isn’t helping. Anything helps. Thank you!

I miss being skinnier and younger so I can be attractive by guys again

Let me start off by saying: if you are a man, woman, anything really, you’ll understand.

When you are into men, and you want them to like you and see you, it’s harder if you’re know skinny or at least fit. I’m not physically fat, but ever since I’ve gained a bit of weight, I notice less attention from guys I’m trying to meet. And the ones I do, they don’t hold their attention as long as they did when I was skinny and younger (and I’m still 23…).

Many don’t know or wonder if men have or had EDs. I did. Sometimes it wants to come back, go to the gym and obsess with it all over again, but without the looksmax approach of course (fuck those people). Still, I miss being skinnier, I miss being more attractive for others. It’s fucked.

Hope everyone has a great morning.

Hey everyone. Sadly, I can't go. Arca and Los Thutanaka are some of my favorite musicians of all time, but I can't go. Anyways, I bought the ticket at $75. Can forward the original email to confirm. I'm selling 1. They are sold out, so there's that.

I do Venmo, PayPal, if you got Zelle it would be even better, but I have everything (CashApp, Apple Pay, you name it).

Feeling sad about it. Please, only serious inquiries comment below or DM.

Yes, I come from the video that did massively well and brought the Creatures games back to visibility. However, I wanted to know what happened with the user Anti-Norn. I'm very into the old Internet era and Anti-Norn seemed like a really interesting person, being in the military and all. Whatever happened to him? Anyone knows?
