Update on the twisted and etiolated tip
Months ago, maybe February I posted some tips I had just sitting in a glass of water. Here’s one of them now. Rooted and still doing weird shit.
How’s everyone enjoying this monsoon?
All of my soil dries within 12 hours of watering. So I haven’t been too worried. Brought in a couple that had tip damage from hail last month.
Pic for attention
Had to do the opposing wall.
I didn’t get pictures of every step. But when you have a big failure along a seam, because it wasn’t taped and the building settled 4” on one corner. This is what I do.
In sequence, I cut everything out. Do a prefill with siliconized caulking. Back fill with 20 minute, fiber tape and skim with 20 minute. Scuff sand when dry and float out with all purpose. Sand and skim with all purpose, sand, prime and paint two coats.
I used to do this for a living and now I work as a senior super for a major gc. We’re doing our final inspections for turnover and I wanted to show to myself I can still do it.
The juxtaposition of life and death
My puppy managed to behead a toy this morning. And here’s a pup I found today.
Been a few years since I’ve had to do it.
Ripped out the crack, loaded, taped, skimmed, sanded, final, prime and paint.
What’s everyone feeding lately?
As we’re heading into fall, I’m adding a bunch more pk. Just top dressed everything with some build a bloom. They’re also getting foop once a week. (Pic is one I grabbed a couple weeks ago)
Someone wanted to let me know there is a broken sprinkler head
She doesn’t know who dug the hole around it or ripped it out of the ground. But she thought I might like to know about the water.
I hate my assistant
Al Pastor tacos for dinner with salsa de cacahuetes.
I have an assistant, he is 23 years older than myself. We work in the construction field together. We are both neurodivergent but I have the hyper focus, take charge, speak clearly and directly type of autism that has benefited me in my professional life and left me with few friends. He is the polar opposite. Scattered thoughts coming at you rapid fire, has a million ideas but can’t commit to one.
Today we had a very simple task I needed him to do. We go to the area, I tell him in steps, how to do this task. Immediately he starts making multiple suggestions of different ways we can do it. Some aren’t wrong, you can approach this a couple of different ways. Some are double work, I refuse to double work. And he finishes his 15 minute uninterrupted monologue with “so what do you think?”
I could feel my face getting red. Dude, I told you how I want this done. You have decades more experience than me. If you’re still unsure about how to do this job, after over 40 years in the field, just do it my way. I don’t need your life’s story about a 3 hour task.
He also likes to interrupt people while they’re speaking. Hence his monologue. If you get me started about something I’m interested in, I’ll chew your ear off. Work, I would prefer to speak with people as little as possible, while maintaining full communication about the task at hand.
Just needed to bitch. Advice probably won’t be used, because of the aforementioned autism, but feel free to weigh in.
Sunday supper club
For a few years I’ve been wanting to start a supper club. I’m thinking meeting once a month on a Sunday. In a typical supper club two people do the cooking for everyone and it changes each time they meet.
I can entertain up to 20 indoors, currently. I have far too much kitchen equipment for someone who just cooks as a hobby. I’m located in Highlands Ranch. Would this interest anyone?
