Found a few old pics of my best girl Cletus; she’s been gone a long time but still loved!

Cletus was my bestie. She was around for lots of big stuff in my life including a big move, marriage and kids. She loved the kids! She loved everyone. One of kind, with big alien eyes and a heart on her back (the stuffed doppelgänger leg is against it). Anyways thought I’d share her with everyone!

Did a little search and didn’t see anyone complaining too much about Degree Stress Control changing scents. I HATE IT

I’ve been using this and Shower Clean for years. I was excited cause my local pharmacy had them on sale so I bought two Stress Control sticks. My nose is a little wonky (smells get stuck in there for weeks) so I chalked up this nasty sweet yet acrid “fake cut grass” stank to something my nose was doing weird. OH NO. No it was not me. It’s a new scent to this deodorant and it is making me nauseous and I swear I have a stank cloud around me. wtf degree why did you changeeeeee

Going to return my second stick hopefully. I see that the shower clean has also changed so I guess that’s the end for me and Degree, the only one that kept pit stains at bay.

Anyone else notice this funky scent update?

Looking for very old school cherry cake recipe

Hello everyone!

I recently bought some flour that was milled at a working old school mill. The flour is great, but it does have a different consistency as the germ is included. I am keeping the flour in my freezer as the mill worker told me too. If I remember correctly, he said that the flour is a bit more dense when cooking with it.

I also have a bunch of frozen sour cherries that I want to use up. So I’m looking for a recipe that would have been made using flour from the mill. Most of the cherry cake recipes I am finding use sweet cherries not sour ones. And a lot are from the 40’s and 50’s so not old enough.

Does anyone have an old old recipe for a sour cherry cake? It doesn’t have to be a cake-cake, but something baked that includes the cherries.

Do you know if any particular cookbooks or websites that have really old recipes? I’d love to serve up a dessert from the 1700s or something 🤣

We released the golden barbs back to the parking lot pond today. This is their third summer out here and they seemed to be excited about it. It’s been a cooler start to summer so they got in late

The barbs will be by themselves this year. Last year they had Bosemani and turquoise rainbow fish buddies cause our big tank broke. Red Bobby the pond betta also passed over the winter. Maybe we should get a new little betta friend… 😍

What a great deal. Does the half deal glo betta come with it too?

The write-up was serious , I don’t think it’s rage bait. I don’t even think you get the light for this price just the heater 🤣

I didn’t see any ladies with berries. Thought maybe I had 4 males. But now there’s a whole flock of baby oranges!

There’s three in the first pic and a terrible close up of one in the 2nd

I posted this with a bunch of other fossils the other day but am still looking for info. Ordovician slate find. What could it be?

I don’t know if this is some kind of crinoid, sponge, what have you. Does this look familiar to anyone? This piece was sticking out of a giant pile of slate with lots of deep sea shells. Location: Ottawa ON

I’m back with more Ordovician fossils! I need some help with some pls see below

I took some littles to go fossil hunting at the cemetery rock pile 🤣 I have some ideas what some of these are (the orthoceras pieces) but I’ve added a letter to ones I don’t know. Pls feel free to add or correct anything!!

A) I think is a coral. Rugosa?

B) there are two long skinny but not really tapering fossils above the big shell. No idea what that is

C) there’s a ton of these white wispy but sturdy tendrils. Are these from an Iocrinus?

D) no idea. (It is raised and bumpy but you can’t tell in the photos)

E) looks fan-ny. I don’t know what type or coral or animal/crinoid this is from

F) I think these are snails. We found a few sitting by themselves but also broke some out of the rock. They kind of just popped out. One has pyritized which is cool. It looks like a trochonema.

There’s a few random pics as well. Overall we had a successful trip and brought home some goodies to cherish before the area gets dozed over again.

Area: Ottawa Ontario

She’s a little moldy ❤️

Pepper is a moldy loaf (pls refer to the Cat Loaf Identification chart). She has the softest flabby belly of all time. I tell her I’m going to make a scarf out of her when she dies 🤣 hopefully THAT doesn’t happen for a very long time! Pepper is precious to the whole family. Behold her glory (and her belly!)

My Hoya Rosita is flowering

The first time it flowered, the stem was under another plant so I didn’t really notice it. This time the stem is hanging down so we can all see its weird little red lumps!

Rescued baby who ate her feet 🤣

She’s gone to a raccoon rehab now and I miss her a ton even though she was in my life for like 24 hours!

Shout-out to our local wildlife rescues!

It’s baby season! Babies of all kinds are out there getting into trouble. We found a 7 week old raccoon beside our garage Saturday morning. There’s a mom around the hood but she did not come on Saturday night. Both Holly’s Haven and the Rideau wildlife sanctuary got back about helping this poor little sweetheart out. Holly has taken her in and I know that “Flower” will live a nice and happy raccoon life away from city streets.

These services get overwhelmed this time of year so if you have an extra $1 or whatever, please consider donating to them. Safe Wings, the Wild Bird centre, cat rescues and dog rescues take care of those who are left to fend for themselves, quite often in a world that is cruel to them.

I really really appreciate the people who run and volunteer at these services. It’s heartwarming for me, and life saving for the animals :)

Raccoon tax in the photos!

(No we did not go to Rideau McDonalds for a picture though we did laugh about the idea)

Also: LOOK AT THAT FACE!!! She was such a good girl during her time with us 🦝

Baby racc blown out of nest in windstorm. Mama will come tonight!

We had a mom raccoon who I named Babygirl in our detached garage attic. She had tiny babies and a two weekends ago we discouraged her presence there by playing music and using power tools. She didn’t move too far away, because this morning after wind storms came through last night, this little lady was hanging out by herself beside said garage.

She’s been secured for the day and we will put her out this evening when Babygirl comes around so she can have her baby back.

In the meantime we are keeping our eyes on her, she drank some water and went to sleep ❤️
