Wow. I’m here basically every other week, so I’m no stranger to monday mornings at the airport, and precheck security is an absolute fucking goat rodeo this morning. Longest lines I’ve ever seen (and I traveled on the monday a few weeks ago when the airport saw its busiest day ever). They appear to have fiddled with the queues *again*, and they’re crossing the streams between CLEAR, precheck, and touchless.

Plan on an extra 5-10 minutes for precheck. Hopefully this only screws with the pre-7am rush.

And then of course there is all the usual nitpicky and annoying fuckery that they have never addressed since opening the new terminal.

Nasty storm came through ORD late this morning, and it’s a godawful mess. Microbursts, tornado warnings, wind shear, heavy precip, the whole razzle dazzle. Really glad my flight in arrived before it started, chilling at the lounge, as my departing flight had to divert to STL, so I’m not getting outta here any time soon (flight is already delayed 2 hours…)

Been listening to the controller for 10C/28C who came on around noon. He is an absolute freaking rock star with the insane slide puzzle that is several dozen queued aircraft, lot of regionals having to go back to the gate for more gas, and still managing to squeeze in the occasional departure through gaps in the weather.

Tip of the hat to the whole ORD controller crew, you guys are earning the hell out of your paychecks today.

Setting this up for my daughter at her new place. Context: I am a network engineer, I have a BGW320 at home with a static IPv4 block and a Unifi Dream Machine SE behind it, works great and has for years.

after the external ONT at my daughter’s apartment died, AT&T sent out a tech to bypass it and put an SFP in the BGW. Native Wifi from the BGW works, and they retained the passthrough configuration I had previously put in. but when the BGW is configured for IP passthrough (DHCPS-fixed) and given the MAC address for the WAN port on the UDR, the UDR gets the correct WAN IP, on both IPv4 and IPv6, but the UDR is unable to get to the internet unless it gets an RFC1918 address from the BGW.

Did AT&T change something about how IP passthrough works on these, or is there some obscure setting that I need on the UDR now? Not even trying to go direct fiber into the UDR at this point, just taking IPPT off the BGW.

I have a pair of standalone Frigidaire FPFU/FPRU19, that have not been paired with the trim kit - and I’m seeing that there is a “required” pairing kit that consists of two heater blankets that go between the units and are sold separately from the trim kit.

Why in the world does this thing need *heater* blankets between the units for pairing?

Also, anyone know if/where I can get just the levelers from the trim kit?

My 2023 (mid-year production, 35K miles) got the daily grind going on… new part on order, let’s see how long it takes to show up. Dealer is getting about $17K from Subaru for the job (including the part), this is their first one.

They were real glad they didn’t have to do the front one… at that point it may have been cheaper to just give me a new one.

People who have been around KC for a hot minute, i’ve been racking my brain trying to remember who does the signature voice work for so many of the ads you hear on KMBZ and other stations around town.. one of the ones that comes to mind is the “Air-Man” commercials “keep me from freezin’ and I’ll pay you next season!” And a few others, possibly EBT restaurant?

Is it Michael Ashcraft, or am I misremembering?

Has anyone tried the new egg/avocado/radish sandwich at the AC during breakfast?
