What Else Could I Be Doing?

Senior SDE at Microsoft working on a Cybersecurity product. 10 yoe; 32; ex Amazon/Salesforce/John Deere.

To fight the dread of the future, I am taking one course at a time from ASU Online in EE. Really not sure when I will be done or how the future will turn out but I am taking whatever action I can.

I have an interest in EE and I am thinking maybe having both CS and EE degrees will continue to keep me employed in the future.

Should I go for masters in AI or continue with EE? It's just one course at a time that I am taking which will take forever for me to graduate anyway despite getting credits for all gen eds--if I don't get laid off which is not a surety.

How Are People With Spouses Stuck in Pakistan Faring and Vice Versa?

Wife stuck in Pakistan because of the pause and we've only been together for total time 2 months over 3 years. She was supposed to come this year and had her interview in Jan. But unlucky we were not in time before the pause.

How are people like this faring? How are we supposed to fare? How are people supposed to cope when job doesn't allow much time off, had to take pto for health issues and other important stuff, and can't quit job because life is settled in US?

Anyone else dealing with this nightmare?

I am Doing EE Part Time Because Why Not...

Senior sde at Microsoft on a Cybersecurity product. Not in the best books with manager. 10 yoe across Amazon, Salesforce, Microsoft, and John Deere.

And I am doing EE part time one course at a time from ASU Online.

I see all time high EE enrollment but I am just doing it because why not. Hoping this degree will come in use in the future.

Can't Keep Continuing This

I do everything with AI.

For example,

Complex customer bug across .net, scala, powerbi? Give copilot cli all the context and it uses icm mcp to read the complaint, uses devops mcp to create a bug, pulls latest main, creates hotfix branch from main, kicks off subagents of different models to validate each other, uses powerbi mcp to read from local powerbi, finds the issue in Scala fact table, makes the fix. I review with /diff and then it commits and creates the pr.

This is an extremely complex PowerBI and an equally complex data warehousing layer. Bug solved in 5 minutes that would have taken me a whole day to dig through....

What the fk is my role? I feel like an imposter. We were reorged recently and skip level has a connect with me. Previously I would have been excited and proposing ideas and ways I can level up.

Now I am just going to ask him how I can help you. Because there is no more upskilling when you already know the basics of everything and AI is the specialist. What's the damn point?

I make good money at Microsoft and I am about ready to quit and start over into something else entirely. It's not even that I need to shut up and enjoy the ride but I am concerned how long this ride can continue. Will I be left stranded?

Beware of White Men and Western Passport Bros

There are western men often White men who travel to third world countries to get their socks off because of the extremely high dating standards of western women. These men are not looking for responsibility but only to have a good time with these brown women from 3rd world countries, such as Colombia, Thailand, Vietnam, Phillipines, Brazil, and the rest of the third world.

I'm very concerned seeing White vloggers get treated as celebrities in Pakistan. I personally saw this behavior in Islamabad when I was visiting. I understand Pakistanis in Pakistan are hungry for outside validation but keep in mind you don't promote this ppb culture in Pakistan. These White men are modern men. They're not looking to provide but only want to use the women and leave. I'm concerned by how modern and "progressive" many Pakistani families are now but I hope Pakistani fathers, mothers and the young women still realize what kind of predators White men are and how they see brown, Pakistani women.

Raising this as a threat because as a Pakistani American I know how vulnerable Pakistanis can be due to financial issues but increasing sex tourism for dollars is not something we should even give a thought to. Our women are among our most precious treasures!

Western or Christian Passport Bros Don't Really Deserve a Traditional Woman

Traditional in the actual meaning of the word used to mean always submissive, loyal and religious. The western women from 20th century. Now you have this bastardization of the word traditional. What is traditional depends on whatever someone wants it to mean....

She is traditional if she works? If she divorces you? If she's non religious? WTF does traditional even mean anymore? If your wife is a stay at home, always nagging you, belittling you is she still traditional?

The reason I ask is because I am Pakistani American and there are still a few traditional women in Pakistan; traditional in the actual meaning of the word--fiercely loyal, virgin, religious, divorce averse.

What you guys really want when you say traditional isn't really traditional. You often want someone who works, still always respects you, can be non religious, etc. No you do not want a traditional woman.... Please first understand what a traditional woman really is.

Which group lawsuits are still taking up plaintiffs or will be opening up soon. I am okay with paying $2k to get some traction for my wife's case.

Pakistani Women

From my experience I can confidently say we Pakistanis have perhaps the MOST loyal, pure, wifey material women on earth. People talk about the food, hospitality, but the real gems of Pakistan are the middle class flowers--down to earth, loyal, caring.

Need Help: Moving to Pakistan

My wife is stuck in Pakistan due to Trump pause for 3 years. I am unable to visit my wife due to needing time off for surgery and other things recently.

Now I am planning on taking online courses for moving into a different field that I can take from anywhere in the world. Once I quit or get laid off from my job, I am planning on moving to Islamabad a few months at a time to spend with my wife.

I will be living off savings so I need to know where I can live affordably--at least somewhat decent because I am not used to Pakistani living--and it needs to have at least 100 Mbps down/50 Mbps upload for my university courses.

Any advice for me? 3 frigging years without my wife. It's a fking travesty what this new administration is doing and I believe the online courses will help me pass the time and move into my new career.

Please give any advice for an American Pakistani like me. Very much appreciated. Thank you.

How McBean Could Mess This Up

Honestly it is common sense to show the severe negative impact this ban is causing US citizens. This is objectively the strongest point in the whole case. Then what kind of lawyers would not focus on something so obvious when filing the case. These so called lawyers should themselves be sued for neglect and incompetence.

And then she had the guts to lie publicly pretending the hearing went in their favor when the judge dismissed the case.

AI Anxiety

I work at MSFT as an sde and we have a lot of mcps--hands that allow AI to use other things like your mail, apps, etc.--and unlimited access to latest models.

Last year I was concerned by AI and where it may fit eschatologically. Now with Opus 5 and Fable/Mythos, looking at the trajectory of how fast these models are improving, I am increasingly confident Dajjal will either be AI or heavily related to AI.

I believe I am a reasonably intelligent person. I believe these models are producing responses where it doesn't matter whether AI is sentient or not. For all intents and purposes it is capable of doing now or eventually everything that a human can do.

A tsunami of change in labor is coming. 100% we will need 1/10 the number of tech professionals and over 5-10 years, even other professions like doctors will be increasingly impacted. AI can already solve extremely complex bugs across extremely complex systems in 1/100th time I could in many cases. And I am a senior software engineer at Microsoft, ex Amazon/Salesforce. If you are not in tech, you can't imagine my awe at this technology.

We literally already have the sauce to automate most office jobs assuming we don't have any other leaps in this technology. The main thing protecting some jobs like accountants, lawyers, etc. is more training and data that is being curated undoubtedly.

Now back to my concern. We are about to have a true Oracle. Something that will know everything, will be capable of feats only mentioned in sci fi. And what we ALREADY have is what would be considered sci fi 3 years ago.

This has to be Dajjal. Please share any correlations you may have made on this topic.
