just got out of the hospital with mono/ebv (newly diagnosed)

i originally went to the emergency room for bad ibs symptoms. i’m also recovering from a restrictive eating disorder, and i thought that was causing most of my symptoms. a few blood test later showed that my alt was 200 and my ast was 80.

due to my ibs flaring up so badly and many calls being made to the on-call nurse since i wasn’t feeling well, they admitted me for further testing. one of those was for mono, and it came back positive. i was very surprised at first and it caught me off guard. but after a lot of thought, everything made sense: increased fatigue episodes and headaches, my heat intolerance was way worse, ibs flaring up, dizziness, and probably a lot more that i can’t remember. however, i didn’t have any “flu like” symptoms like a lot of other people have.

this has been going on for a month or so now. i hope it gets better soon and we are following up with bloodwork in about two weeks. i’m also seeing a new gi specialist, which should help. i’m also already immunocompromised, which makes the situation a lot more hard and complicated.

if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. what a whirlwind of 72 hours this has been…i’m just glad to be home and that everything is ok 🩷

feeling defeated due to my ibs…

feeling really bummed about today. i’m glad that i went to urgent care and got the answers that i needed. seeing my dr tomorrow and another one wednesday too. but i’m back to being constipated. and as soon as i got home, i had one of the worst weakness episodes i’ve had yet. my whole body felt horrible and weak and i almost started crying from how bad i felt. and we don’t know why they’re going on. we know it’s related to my ibs but i felt truly awful. i just hope i get answers tomorrow from gi…

frustrated that my ed caused a chronic illness

so i realized that the reason my body isn’t loosing weight is due to my severe ibs. and i say severe cause i’ve been way more constipated for several days now even on meds, fatigued, getting tired easily, etc. i know i shouldn’t focus on weight loss. but knowing what i did to my body also frustrates me. but it also frustrates me cause my brain says i’m not “sick enough” since i haven’t lost weight. idk i hope this makes sense…

my constipation medicine has become a serious behavior…

background, it was the middle of my period. i have bad ibs so i take a medication to help me use the bathroom. yes it is prescribed from my gi dr. for some reason, i had several moments of diarrhea. more than usual. it wouldn’t stop. but at one point, it got to a point where i wanted to see more. i wanted to see how much i was going to the bathroom to loose weight. some drs told me to wait until it went away to go back on the medication. it stopped last night, so i took a lower dose today. haven’t had issues since.

but i almost enjoyed it in a sense?? it’s hard to describe. when drs said to not take it/wait, i flipped out. i didn’t wanna listen. i wanted to go ahead and take it anyways. i didn’t care if i got sick, i just wanted to see me use the bathroom more. i don’t like my body at all and it makes me more in control…

unstable lab work is making me realize that i need to get my act together

i got a cmp done for my endocrinologist. i saw that my sodium has finally gone low after trending down for quite some time (thankfully not too low). same with my co2, and my creatinine is high due to dehydration. i called my dr and they told me to follow up this week when i see my new primary.

my low blood sugar was also super bad today. i had to step out of an assembly rehearsal due to alerts on my phone. i felt so much shame…

i need to get my act together but it’s so hard. i wanna eat but at the same time i don’t. i wanna change but i like being in control. i know ana and arfid is in control, but i feel in control if that makes sense. i also hate my body and how i look. it’s so overwhelming and i’m trying hard to handle it all…

dexcom support gave me incredibly inaccurate information about my sensor

i called and asked about what happened in my earlier post. he recommended that next time that happens that i calibrate the device. i expressed that i didn’t do that since the arrow was moving down and then had a sensor issue. my doctor also said that most of the time, calibration isn’t needed. so i tried to do it as little as possible.

however, what caught me off guard is that he said that you can calibrate the device even when the arrow is moving up or down. i told him that i heard that is not true, and he asked where i heard that. i told him that i heard that from a friend (here lol) but that it is also on the dexcom website.

overall, he wasn’t helpful at all. my sugars bounce a lot sometimes, hence why the reading was delayed and then jumped right back up to baseline. i’m gonna contact my doctor and see what she says about what happened earlier today.

dexcom super delayed…

i’m very sensitive to the heat and walking alone can make my blood sugar go low. so i wasn’t surprised when i got a low alert when walking the dog outside in the heat. i sat down in the shade for a few minutes while getting all my supplies out from my backpack. i tested twice to be sure, and the second one came back at 116. there was then a sensor issue, but it just fixed itself.

I’m assuming it was just delayed and i did not calibrate it since it was going down. has this happened to anyone else? it is now 100 and steady. thanks!! 🩷

rough day with highs and lows

thankfully this news sensor is working great after my other one failed. i’m recovering from an eating disorder. so due to chaotic eating, my sugar is all over the place. mostly goes low after meals. i also got an urgent low alert and corrected it with a smoothie.

i just can’t catch a break. i’m tired. i see an endocrinologist monday and really hope they take me seriously. i’m exhausted…

a little bit of blood came out after applying pressure on a new sensor. assuming it’s ok?

i heard if it bleeds it reads better (not a ton obviously) and it stopped on its own after i cleaned it and applied a little pressure. just double checking. thanks!! 🩷
