How many firearm safety violations can you spot in this video?

How many violations and blatant disregard for basic firearm safety do you notice?

- Public brandishing violation of Rule 32(3) of the Arms Rules, 2016.
- “Cowboy spinning” a cocked 1911 potentially loaded with .45 ACP.
- Pointing the muzzle directly at another person with finger on the trigger.

He either never attended the mandatory firearm safety instruction course, or he is handling someone else’s firearm. Either of which needs further investigation by Haryana Police.

Two Injured at Varanasi Airport After Licensed Pistol Discharges During Weapons Inspection

Today morning, two people were injured at Varanasi Airport after a licensed pistol discharged during the mandatory weapons inspection of a passenger travelling to Mumbai.

The firearm had reportedly been declared, but that did not prevent a negligent discharge during the inspection. The passenger was detained and the incident is now being investigated by police.

The passenger reportedly said the firearm was unloaded and pressed the trigger to demonstrate it. One screener also stated that the magazine had been removed but was loaded.

India’s Gun Market Is Way More Interesting Than You Think

You can find some seriously rare guns available in India for purchase, as long as they’re chambered in NPB caliber and the Indian citizen purchasing it has a valid arms licence.

Expensive? Very.

Did You Notice What Happened After the First Shot? [Watch before reading]

Meet Fouji Sahab (his internet name). He’s Head Constable with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Watch closely, though, because there’s something easy to miss.

After his first shot, the pistol suffers a failure to eject (FTE), a classic stovepipe malfunction. The spent cartridge case gets caught vertically in the ejection port. He doesn't seem to notice it at all. He stays completely committed to his character while his pistol is sitting there with a spent casing sticking out of the ejection port.

Celebratory firing is prohibited under Rule 32(3). And he also does not appear to be carrying the firearm concealed, which violates Rule 32(2) of Arms Rules 2016. For the curious, that appears to be IOF Ashani, chambered in .32 ACP.

Kiehberg Girsan 1911: Good Gun, But Better Than Every Colt 1911 found in India?

Claiming that a Turkish-made 1911 is better than all the original Colt 1911s imported into the Indian market over the past decade is… quite a controversial claim.

What’s funny is that Indian gun houses never mention that this Girsan-made 1911 is considered an entry-level budget 1911 in the US market.

Is it a good gun? Absolutely.
Is it worth what gun houses are charging for it? Absolutely not.
Is it better than every Colt 1911 imported into India over the last decade? I suppose we’ll just have to take his word for it.

Extended-mag feeding issues on NM-12 Dragon and every major box-fed 12-gauge platform in the world

Police Security Officer (PSO) is trying to insert the magazine the opposite orientation (curve facing the wrong way). Also, gun gets jammed after 2 rounds. Why?

Because this is an extremely common issue on every major box-fed 12-gauge platform in the world, when using an extended magazine. Shell doesn't not rising high enough and this problem worsens when the muzzle is pointed upward because the spring is then fighting gravity.

For the curious this is the NM-12 Dragon, India's first AR-styled, magazine-fed semi-automatic 12 bore shotgun manufactured by Nanda Manufacturers.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Announces Firearm-Free Zone Proposal for Restaurants, Cafés & Coffee Shops

Police Commissioner of Jalandhar, Satinder Singh, IPS calls out irresponsible licensed gun owners and announces plans to issue an order declaring restaurants, cafés, and coffee shops as Firearm-Free Zones (FFZs). Violators will face FIR, along with cancellation of their arms licence.

Brandishing firearms to make reels, or carrying them recklessly in public only damages the reputation of every responsible licence holder and a few rotten apples spoil it for everyone.

2018 Hyatt Incident Introduced Indians to Civilian-Owned Desert Eagle

Throwback to the iconic 2018 incident when former BSP MP's son, Ashish Pandey, brandished his licensed IWI Desert Eagle outside the Hyatt in New Delhi.

It was probably the first time a Desert Eagle was seen publicly in India, introducing many firearm enthusiasts to the fact that the pistol actually existed in the country's civilian market. Even today, it's one of the rarest handguns you'll ever come across in India, with only a handful believed to be in civilian hands.

Should wives and family members be firing service weapons for social media?

I've been told how this falls under the "benefits of service," and I understand some part of that argument. But how hard is it to simply not film it and make a social media reel?

Civilian access to, and especially the firing of, prohibited arms is a misuse of government property and is strictly illegal. If your dad, husband, or another family member serves in the Army/Police/CAPFs, and you happen to visit a shooting range, the least you can do is not turn it into social media content for likes.

Identity blurred to protect the individual.

Is releasing SVD marksman footage still acceptable OPSEC in the age of OSINT?

Question for Indian Defence Community: With the current skill level of OSINT researchers and GeoGuessr-style analysts, terrain alone is enough to geolocate a video. From an OPSEC perspective, is releasing a footage of what appears to be a Designated Marksman with his SVD rifle (7.62×54mmR) still considered acceptable?
