XG27AQNGV vs Zowie for PUBG/Apex/Tarkov + why switching from Intel to AMD was actually my biggest upgrade

Someone asked me how the XG27AQNGV compares to the XL2568X+ for a BR like PUBG, and whether it would make sense to switch to the G-SYNC Pulsar or even the new XQ2566X.

I had the XL2586X 540Hz before, so I can compare the Zowie experience directly with the XG27AQNGV.

For PUBG specifically, I would still give Zowie a slight advantage, mainly because of the insane amount of color and visibility adjustment you get. You can make green enemies stand out so much that hiding in grass becomes much harder. PUBG is one of those games where, for me, visibility comes first no matter what.

What I really like about the XG27AQNGV, though, is how much more relaxed I can sit while playing. The 27" size and the much better viewing angles make a real difference. With the XL2586X I always felt like I had to get into a very specific position in front of the monitor to play properly. That can help you focus, but whether that is actually enjoyable for long sessions is another question.

For Apex Legends and Tarkov, I personally prefer the XG27AQNGV. Both games look extremely clear on it. The Dark Boost/black equalizer is also useful in Tarkov, although Tarkov night raids aren't nearly as dark anymore as they used to be.

Warzone also looks and feels very good on it.

Another thing I like with my RTX 5070 is that I can use custom resolutions while running 1440p/360Hz. Keep in mind that this is something I couldn't do the same way with the RTX 40-series and older cards at 1440p/360Hz.

If I literally played PUBG and nothing else, I would probably be looking at the new XQ2566X, mainly because 1440p on 24.1" sounds like a really nice combination for that game.

I would probably wait for some more proper reviews first, though. There aren't many reviews yet that really go into its new backlight-strobing implementation. The monitor itself is noticeably thicker because of the new tech, so this looks like a substantially different implementation compared with the older Zowie models.

I'm also very interested in the visibility options it has for things like gas/smoke in BR games. Anything that can make enemies harder to hide in those effects is a pretty big deal in PUBG. If PUBG was my only game, that kind of feature would definitely push me toward the Zowie.

But here's the funny part:

The biggest upgrade I made wasn't actually the monitor. It was switching from Intel to AMD.

My current setup is:

- Ryzen 7 9850X3D

- 32GB DDR5-6000 CL28

- RTX 5070

- ASUS ROG STRIX B850-G GAMING

I specifically like this motherboard because it gives me a non-USB audio solution and Intel LAN, which are both things I wanted for a low-latency gaming build.

And this setup just feels insane. Seriously smooth.

What surprised me most is that it actually feels noticeably smoother to me than my previous system:

- RTX 5090 FE

- GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS TACHYON X

- i9-13900KS

- 32GB DDR5-8000 CL38

On paper the old system obviously looks ridiculous, especially with the 5090, but in terms of how the games actually feel, I prefer the 9850X3D setup by quite a margin.

So if you're still on Intel and are looking for the next thing to upgrade, I would seriously consider the platform before changing monitors. For me, switching to AMD has been the biggest improvement I've made to overall smoothness.

The audio is another part that surprised me, and I wouldn't underestimate it.

I use the optical output on the ASUS ROG STRIX B850-G GAMING and connect that directly to the optical input on my DAC.

I also keep the iGPU enabled in the BIOS, as TheWhale recommends in his guide. To be clear, I'm not using the iGPU for video output at all. I leave it enabled specifically so the additional audio controller remains available.

My thinking is that this lets the 9850X3D/platform handle the audio path the way it is intended to, and the sound on this setup has been excellent.

I do want to be fair here: I haven't yet done a proper A/B test with the iGPU/audio controller disabled, so I'm not claiming I've scientifically proven that this is the reason the audio sounds better. It's simply how I currently have the system configured, and it works extremely well for me.

For the BIOS setup I mostly followed TheWhale's guide:

https://youtu.be/yZfbjQkPCx4?is=EY96KduAER--7m8h

For Windows I used FR33THY's optimization pack to configure Windows Server, and I use the latest Windows 10 Pro for Warzone.

LatencyMon results are extremely low on this system and it has also been stable. From my experience, the idea that LatencyMon somehow only "plays fair" with Intel definitely doesn't match what I'm seeing. The 9850X3D performs extremely well there.

I also have SMT disabled.

For interrupts, I check every relevant device shown in Melody's Interrupt Assignment Checker and assign the devices across different physical cores using GoInterruptPolicy, rather than letting everything pile onto the same cores.

I'm also using Calypto's power plan.

Obviously there is a lot of tweaking involved here, so I'm not saying everyone needs to copy every single setting. But as a complete setup, this is easily the smoothest gaming system I've personally used.

So yeah, if you're still on Intel, my first move would actually be to look at the AMD platform before spending more money swapping monitors.

Going from my 13900KS + RTX 5090 system to this 9850X3D + RTX 5070 setup gave me the biggest improvement in perceived smoothness — and, surprisingly, sound — that I've experienced from an upgrade.

My monitor history, for reference:

Now:

[TOMT][DANCE] What is this dance move/style in Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You?

Does anyone know what this dance or dance move is called?

It appears briefly on the TV in the music video for Stardust – “Music Sounds Better With You.” I’ve attached a screenshot of the exact scene.

YouTube: https://youtu.be/FQlAEiCb8m0?t=77&is=SF8XfLforDbjtpHx

The link should start at exactly the right moment (around 1:17).

I’m specifically asking about the dancing shown on the TV screen in that part of the video. Is this a particular dance style or a recognizable move?

Thanks!

Edit: maybe it's the saltshaker move in beat it? https://youtu.be/oRdxUFDoQe0?t=270&is=q24l6vF5qDYkjAip they have the same clothes also..

Why do films often make us sympathize with the hedonist rather than the disciplined man?

I was thinking about *Danton* (1983) and *Amadeus* (1984), and noticed a similarity between the central conflicts.

In *Danton*, you have Danton vs. Robespierre. Danton is excessive, sensual, charismatic, loves food, women, drinking and life in general. Robespierre is almost the opposite: disciplined, controlled, austere, ideological and willing to sacrifice personal pleasure for what he believes is right.

Then in *Amadeus* you get something similar with Mozart and Salieri. Mozart is vulgar, impulsive, childish and hedonistic, while Salieri is disciplined, serious, restrained and has devoted his entire life to music and to God.

Yet in both cases I find myself sympathizing much more with the less disciplined character.

Maybe part of the reason is that discipline can improve what you already have, but it cannot necessarily give you the thing you want most. Salieri can dedicate his entire life to music, but he cannot discipline himself into becoming Mozart. Mozart seems almost "touched by God", which makes Salieri's sacrifices feel tragically useless.

There seems to be something similar going on with Danton. Robespierre can be more disciplined, more morally rigid and more devoted to the Revolution, but he can't simply decide to have Danton's charisma or his connection with ordinary people. Danton walks into a room and people respond to him. Robespierre has to rely much more on ideas, institutions and eventually coercion.

I wonder if that's why cinema often makes the hedonistic character more attractive. They represent something spontaneous and alive that can't be produced through self-control alone: talent, charisma, humor, sensuality, maybe even a kind of grace.

And perhaps there's also something unsettling about extreme discipline itself. Discipline is usually considered a virtue, but once someone starts treating every spontaneous desire as weakness, it can turn into resentment toward people who seem to possess naturally what they had to deny themselves.

Salieri seems like the clearest example: "I did everything right, so why did God give *him* the gift?"

Robespierre's relationship with Danton feels like a political version of the same problem.

Do you think this is a real recurring theme in films? And are there good examples where the opposite happens — where the disciplined, restrained character is clearly the more sympathetic one?

Best Windows version for Warzone on a Ryzen 7 9850X3D + RTX 5070?

I recently built a new gaming-focused PC and I'm trying to figure out which Windows version is best specifically for Warzone — mainly for FPS, 1% lows, frametime consistency and input latency.

My system:

  • Ryzen 7 9850X3D
  • ASUS ROG Strix B850-G Gaming WiFi
  • RTX 5070 12GB
  • 32GB (2x16GB) Hynix A-die DDR5, tuned around 6000 CL26 1:1 / FCLK 2200
  • ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQNGV 1440p 360Hz
  • Mainly used for competitive FPS / lowest possible latency

My first preference at the moment is Windows 11 LTSC 24H2, mainly because I like the idea of a cleaner OS with less unnecessary background stuff.

That preference is honestly not based on any proper benchmark or comparison, though.

So I'm curious what people here would choose for a system like this. If another Windows version performs better for Warzone, has better frametimes, lower latency, better scheduling, or is simply what high-level / pro Warzone players tend to use, I'd really like to hear about it.

I'm especially interested in people who have actually compared different Windows builds on Zen 5 X3D + RTX 50-series hardware.

What would you install for a dedicated Warzone / competitive FPS machine?

ROG Strix B850-G + 9850X3D — looking for ASUS BIOS tweaks to get below 59.7ns AIDA64 latency

Hi everyone,

I'm currently tuning a Ryzen 7 9850X3D on an ASUS ROG Strix B850-G Gaming WiFi with 2x16GB Hynix A-die, specifically aiming for the lowest possible AIDA64 memory latency.

On my previous ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi, I managed to get down to 59.7ns at DDR5-6000.

I switched to the ASUS because the ASRock was giving me PCIe lane errors and crashes with my RTX 5070 at x16. Gen4 x8 worked, but x16 didn't. The ASUS is now running the same hardware at Gen5 x16 without those errors, so I'm rebuilding and hopefully improving my low-latency setup on the ASUS.

What I've already tested / am using:

  • DDR5-6000, UCLK=MCLK 1:1
  • Tight Hynix A-die timings (ZenTimings screenshot attached)
  • GDM Disabled
  • Command Rate 1T
  • FCLK tuning
  • Swap APU → Enabled — this was worth roughly 3ns lower latency
  • Nitro settings tested — 1/2/1 actually increased latency for me
  • PBO / Curve Optimizer tuning
  • Memory training settings tested

On the ASUS I'm currently looking into Core Tunings Configuration for Gaming (Auto / Legacy / Level 1 / Level 2). I've read that Legacy can give lower AIDA64 memory latency, even if Level 2 may be preferable for actual gaming performance.

For this experiment, my priority is specifically the lowest possible AIDA64 latency.

At this point I'm mainly looking for less obvious ASUS/AM5 BIOS tweaks rather than basic EXPO or primary timing advice. Swap APU made a surprisingly large difference (~3ns), so I'm especially interested in other settings like that which aren't immediately obvious.

I'll attach my ZenTimings and AIDA64 screenshots for reference.

Current best: 59.7ns @ DDR5-6000.

Does anyone know any ASUS-specific settings, hidden latency tweaks, secondary/tertiary timings, voltages, or other changes that could help me push this into the 58ns range or lower?

Thanks!

ASRock B850I Lightning – RTX 5070 crashes within 2 minutes at PCIe Gen4 x16, but Gen4 x8 seems stable

Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a strange PCIe issue with my ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi and I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar.

System:

  • ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi
  • Ryzen 7 9850X3D
  • RTX 5070 12GB
  • 32GB DDR5
  • Corsair RM850
  • Latest BIOS
  • Multiple clean Windows installations tested

The problem is highly reproducible rather than random. When running the GPU at PCIe Gen4 x16, the system usually freezes/reboots within about 2 minutes. Shortly before the crash, the mouse cursor starts lagging heavily and HWiNFO reports PCIe Lane Errors.

I initially suspected the GPU, but I have now tested two different RTX 5070 cards from different manufacturers, and both show the same behavior.

I also tested an older GTX 1050 Ti, which seemed stable.

After a lot of troubleshooting, I discovered something very interesting:

Gen4 x16 → PCIe errors followed by freeze/reboot within ~2 minutes

Gen4 x8 → seems stable

Gen3 x16 → seems stable and doesn't crash, although HWiNFO still reports PCIe errors

So either reducing the link width from x16 to x8, while keeping Gen4, or reducing the PCIe generation from Gen4 to Gen3 appears to prevent the system from crashing.

This makes me wonder whether there is a signal-integrity problem or an issue with some of the PCIe lanes.

One other observation that may or may not be relevant: when I first installed the motherboard, the PCIe retention clip was stuck and wouldn't move properly. After carefully moving it, it suddenly came completely loose. I was able to reattach it and it now moves normally. I have reseated the GPU multiple times since then, but the Gen4 x16 problem remains.

I have already tried:

  • BIOS defaults
  • multiple clean Windows installations
  • SATA and NVMe SSDs
  • different NVIDIA drivers / DDU
  • reseating the GPU multiple times
  • different DisplayPort connections
  • Gen3 and Gen4
  • two different RTX 5070 cards
  • no PCIe riser cable

I have a brand-new PSU arriving tomorrow, so I will test that before concluding that the motherboard is defective.

However, because Gen4 x16 reliably crashes within approximately 2 minutes while Gen4 x8 seems stable, I'm starting to suspect the PCIe path itself — motherboard/slot/traces, CPU socket contact, or possibly the CPU's PCIe controller.

If the new PSU makes no difference and Gen4 x16 continues to crash within minutes while Gen4 x8 remains completely stable, would you consider that enough evidence to return/RMA the motherboard?

Would you personally keep the motherboard and simply run the RTX 5070 at Gen4 x8 if it's 100% stable, or would you replace the motherboard because Gen4 x16 clearly isn't functioning correctly?

Are there any specific ASRock BIOS settings or additional tests you would recommend before I return the board?

Thanks!

UPDATE: I tested PCIe Gen5 at x8 as well. Interestingly, Gen5 x8 appears stable and HWiNFO reports zero PCIe lane errors. At x16 I get PCIe errors/crashes. This makes me wonder if one or more of the additional lanes used in x16 mode are faulty, rather than this simply being a PCIe generation/speed issue.

Why doesn't Wikipedia mention that Dr Disrespect is actually a very capable singer?

I've always wondered why Dr Disrespect's Wikipedia page doesn't mention that he's actually a very capable singer.

In my opinion, he has the vocal ability to pull of demanding songs like Foreigner's I Want to Know What Love Is.

Wikipedia covers his streaming career, music releases, and controversies, but not what I consider to be one of his most underrated talents.

Is there a reason for this? Is it simply because Wikipedia requires reliable secondary sources discussing a person's singing ability, or do editors generally avoid mentioning abilities that haven't been formally recognized?

Curious to hear what others think.

RTX 5070 crashes PC with PCIe lane errors

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone has seen something similar because I'm running out of ideas.

System

  • Ryzen 7 9850X3D ( latest chipsetdrivers_
  • ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi ( latest Bios)
  • 32GB DDR5 (2x16GB)
  • RTX 5070 ( Not using a riser cable)
  • Corsair RM850 (2021)
  • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 / Windows Server (dual boot)

Symptoms

The PC randomly reboots without a BSOD. after being on for arrooind 30 seconds

HWiNFO always starts showing PCIe lane errors before the reboot happens.

Examples include:

  • Receiver Errors
  • Recovery Count increasing
  • PCIe Lane Errors
  • Eventually the system reboots.

What I have already tested

  • ✅ Exchanged the ASUS RTX 5070 for a brand new Gigabyte RTX 5070 → same problem
  • ✅ Clean Windows installations
  • ✅ Tested multiple SSDs (NVMe and SATA)
  • ✅ Latest NVIDIA drivers
  • ✅ Older NVIDIA drivers
  • ✅ Latest BIOS
  • ✅ BIOS defaults
  • ✅ PCIe Gen4 and Gen5
  • ✅ Different DisplayPort outputs
  • ✅ Reseated the GPU multiple times
  • ✅ Tested with the case laying flat (to rule out GPU sag)
  • ✅vBIOS update Says in save mode says No display adapters where found that are compatible with this update.
  • ✅NVIDIA GPU Firmware Update Tool for DisplayID Says in save mode: This update is not applicable to the graphics card in your PC

Interesting observations

  • My GTX 1050 Ti works on this setup

What I haven't ruled out yet

  • PSU (I have another PSU arriving tomorrow)
  • Motherboard
  • CPU PCIe controller
  • RAM (although the symptoms seem more PCIe-related than memory-related)
  • Running vBIOS update in normal mode ( pc crashes in 1 minute can brick the gpu)
  • NVIDIA GPU Firmware Update Tool for DisplayID in normal mode ( pc crashes in 1 minute can brick the gpu)

My question

Has anyone seen PCIe lane errors in HWiNFO immediately before random reboots?

If so, what turned out to be the cause?

  • Defective PSU?
  • Motherboard / PCIe slot?
  • CPU?
  • RAM?
  • NVIDIA RTX 5000 series issue?
  • Should I try to run the vBIOS update & NVIDIA GPU Firmware Update Tool for DisplayID in save mode? ( i cannot use it in normal mode cause pc crashes in 1 minute and will interupt the update proces what can brick the card)

I'd really appreciate any ideas before I start replacing more expensive hardware.

Thanks in advance!

additional observations:

  • When I first installed the motherboard, the PCIe retention clip was stuck and would not move properly.
  • After some careful movement it suddenly came lose totally, I could reattach it and since then it moves normally.
  • I have reseated the GPU multiple times after that, but the PCIe lane errors and crashes still occur.
  • I'm mentioning this because I wonder if the PCIe slot or retention mechanism could have been damaged or if this could indicate a problem with the slot itself.

If the new PSU doesnt fix the problem I will I exchange the ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi for an ASUS ROG Strix B850-G GAMING WIFI

Ultimate Ryzen 9850X3D low latency BIOS guide? Looking for advice from competitive FPS players.

Title:

Ryzen 7 9850X3D - Lowest possible latency for competitive FPS?

Hi everyone,

I'm coming from Intel after many years and I'm about to build a gaming-only PC around a Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Before installing the CPU, I'll update my ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi to the latest BIOS using BIOS Flashback, so the system will never have been booted before.

My goal is the lowest possible input latency and the most consistent frametimes for competitive FPS games such as Apex Legends, CS2 and Warzone.

Hardware:

Ryzen 7 9850X3D

ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi

RTX 5070

32GB DDR5-6000 CL28 EXPO

1440p 360Hz monitor

I'm looking for advice on BIOS settings that genuinely improve latency or frametime consistency, for example:

PBO

Curve Optimizer

SMT on vs. off

CPPC / Preferred Cores

Global C-States

Memory Context Restore

Power Down Enable

UCLK/FCLK tuning

R1 vs. R2 memory profile

Any AMD CBS settings worth changing

Any advice is welcome, including Windows settings. From what I've read, the Balanced power plan is recommended for Ryzen X3D CPUs, but I'd love to hear what has made a measurable difference for you.

Thanks!

Is Elton's Nikita a song about make Russian gay suppression?

Since Nikita is a male Russian name.

Ofc you cannot make a gay man play Nikita in his music video now or in the cold war. But I think it is a jab against Russian gay supression?

Movies that made the most impact throughout your live.

Movies that made the most impact on me as a kid, adolescent and as a adult.

As a kid; The Never Ending Story: insane soundtrack en just sound in general. The bookstore, the bullies, The dragon, the mirror, the Oracle, the dead knight, Gmork, Atreu his horse. My God what a magical ride. Thank God for this movie.

As a kid also: Jesus Christ Superstar, the music and scenery just so immersive. The first time encountering abstract messages with double meanings like the fighter jets in the sky just after Judas betrwid Jesus then asking what does it mean? Then hearing it has a double meaning! Hearing that for the first time as a kid made me really think. Very memorable.

Also as a kid: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the lost Ark. Indiana Jones was the coolest guy ever ( still is to this day) a teacher that goes on secret quests fighting Nazis with religious aspects to it. Formed me. It really did.

As a young adolescent: Akira. Saw this as a 11 or 12 year old in the early 90s when I lived in a pretty rough neighborhood. The nihilistic traits the movie had ( in contrast to the movies above) did not really left an impact but the feeling of being part of something really futuristic but also the feeling that you are 12 and watching something that is not made for 13 year old kids but still somehow was. Kenedas bike and the sounds it made was the coolest thing ever. No let me refrais that the whole movie is the coolest thing ever that impressed me by just sheer skill and work in making something special. Untill this day I never saw a movie that has the timeless craftmanship of Akira. Every time I rewatch it ( it's the movie I rewatched the most) I discover new details.

As and adult? Not as much as before I think movies that make me forget I am watching a movie. But those are extremely rare. You can count them on one hand or 3 fingers If I had to choose: The Odyssey from Christopher Nolan. Ah and The Dead Poets Society with Robin Williams.

Ps can't forget the movie I saw as a kid: Ralph Bakshis Lord of the Rings. The Dark riders, Gandalf, that scene when Boramir died. That chase scene on the white horse unforgettable.
