Congrats to the World's Ugliest Dog winner Jinny Lu!!!
The world's ugliest dog contest has been going on for over 50 years and it isn't to mock dogs, but to celebrate their differences and uniqueness. This year's winner is Jinny Lu, a rescue pug adopted from Pug Rescue of Korea and now living in Northern California, who won the $5000 grand prize!
Pug Rescue of Korea shared that Jinny Lu used to be tied up outdoors in Korea in freezing weather, but she's now going to be celebrated on national TV and make an appearance on the Today Show this upcoming Monday!
Rescue pugs are truly the best and a huge congratulations to the cutest ugly dog Jinny Lu! You can follow her on @pughotel on Instagram, which is a non profit senior pug sanctuary that Jinny Lu's mom runs (with Jinny Lu's assistance of course)
Girlset is currently live with Twitch streamer Cinna and chatting and doing her makeup!
She doesn't seem to know much about them but they have a really good rapport so far! She asked them about their own social media accounts and Lexi said "I just upload whatever the hell I want". They haven't started doing her makeup yet and are just chatting and snacking right now.
edit: Lexi is about to go off screen and do her chimpanzee impression because she volunteered to do it but is embarassed LOL. This honestly is one of the most fun and relaxed sessions they've done
It's shitty that Katseye isn't giving feminism. They're giving what men's idea of selling feminism is to the masses
I've been on and off Katseye for a while because I like the girls but their music catalogue has been so mid and I keep hoping that they'll actually put out good music with artistry, but it's clear that's not what HXG cares about at all.
Women are allowed to be as sexual as they want. Hell, sex work should be legalized for all adults as a legit career. Female artists sexualizing themselves is not an issue. My problem with Katseye is that all of their sexualization does not seem to stem from anything the members themselves actually want to promote, but what their team is constantly shoving at them. Every music video is shoving products and ass shaking in our faces and it just makes the group feel more and more inauthentic as artists.
We all know the girls can dance and sing. Their talent isn't the issue. It's that they're a brand made to sell slop to kids and they're using sex as a means to do that. It's going back to how pop music used to be 100% run by gross men in the 90s who forced female artists to sell their bodies. Katseye tries to tell us that they're about female empowerment but are THE prime example of manufactured capitalism at work.
It's fucked because I can easily tell that by this point next year, we'll be at this same point where their latest releases are them promoting mid tier music with more product placements slapped in. This group could have been so much more but instead it's shake ass. Sell slime. Bikini tops and thongs. Jollibee chicken

youtube.comIt took 15.5 year old Archie a second to remember that it's Woof Wednesday!
Archie said that it's too hot today so Woof Wednesday is an indoor activity
What would Apocalypse's name be if he was Australian?

This Woof Wednesday, Archie is taking a break because he's not just 15, but 15 and 1/2!
Did anyone go see the Girlset Chat truck across LA today?
The Chat truck went around various areas of LA today and they were advertising that there was some kind of freebie being given out to people. Just wondering what that was! They also shared that there's some kind of "special" meetup tonight at 7pm outside Beaches Tropicana
As a non-book reader I really loved this season but holy moly it was confusing as hell
I watch a decent amount of TV and generally have no issues following complex and subtle context in stories, but holy crap there was a lot that went over my head this season. I honestly don't know how much of it was the show specifically not explaining things and intending for me as a viewer to be in the dark vs. me missing something, but I feel like a good chunk of things flew over my head.
Lestat touring and wanting to seemingly become more famous. This was pretty straight forward but the thing I did not pick up on until they literally spelled it out in episode 6 was that they were leading to some kind of great conversion. I did not get that implication throughout any of the rest of the episodes and felt like I just completely missed such a big plot point.
Louis and Flaudia was pretty much there in our faces without anything to miss. I understood that his story was about grieving Claudia and needing to grow because he was kind of a selfish asshole.
Armand and Daniel I honestly have been extremely confused by this entire season. I don't get what Armand's entire thing was and why the both of them decided that they were going to kill Louis and Lestat. Daniel didn't come off to me as someone who hated either of them that much and Armand going on his apology tour also made no sense to me. He obviously has a long history with both Lestat and Louis but I feel like I'm missing so much here.
The rest of the world is also a bit confusing to me. I don't remember if we met the guy who took Lestat's head at the bowling alley from Daniel, why he as a human was interested in bringing about more vampires, and what all of that is supposed to mean.
I loved the emotional and intimate moments that the show delivered on but I feel like I just missed so much of the context of what was going on this season
Best chat messages you've caught from the Chat music video?
They included a TON of chat messages throughout the MV but the funniest one to me is "VCHA COULD NEVER" lolllll and they included a lot of messages about people not being able to see anything, which is so funny because it was just a blank screen when people were typing things
Pug Rescue of Korea needs your help!
Hello pug community! I am one of the mods here on r/pugs and have had the fortune to volunteer for multiple non profit pug rescues across the US, as well as the fantastic Pug Rescue of Korea. They are the only pug rescue in the entire country where dogs who get abandoned are often euthanized, even when completely healthy due to the lack of interest in adoptions. PRK is 100% volunteer run with their main rescuer in Korea working a full time job and then taking care of the pugs after work and on the weekends. They have a few volunteers who also help by fostering and taking pugs to vet appointments and each of them do this out of the kindness of their hearts and for the love of pugs.
PRK also operates here in the US out of Los Angeles with US volunteers where pugs who aren't adopted locally in Korea fly to the States or Canada to have a second chance at life. Currently, PRK has over $20k in medical expenses from taking care of their current pugs in Korea and have not been able to take in any additional pugs since February of this year.
I've linked their GoFundMe with the permission of the mod team and can tell you from personal experience in fostering some of their rescue pugs that they are a phenomenal organization with 100% of donations going towards helping the pugs. Not a single person involved with the group receives payment for what they do and they work tirelessly to save pugs that have been abandoned across South Korea. Some people are not in the place to donate, which is totally okay, but sharing their story and GoFundMe is highly appreciated. I highly encourage you to check out the video they shared this week on their Instagram page, where you can see their rescuer in Korea doing things like cutting up the unused portions of pee pads for reuse to help with cutting costs.
Thanks so much!

15 year old Archie is back with a Woof Wednesday after a short break!
There was a big fire in the area that lasted a while and made the air quality pretty bad so Archie didn't get to go on his daily strolls for a bit, but he's now back in full force!
I'm really excited that Girlset is finally getting a big push for the first time!
It feels like with each of their single releases they've been increasing the promos more and more and I'm really glad to see it!
Commas - When Commas was first dropped, there was pretty much nothing there, not even an official music video really and it left people a bit confused. I think the lyrics also confused people because it made it sound like they were singing about needing a guy to spend more on them when it was the opposite, but the lack of promotion and explanation just didn't help much.
Little Miss - Still not much promotion and no CDs, but they started doing in person events in LA and lives
Tweak - First ever physical release and more in person events across California and in NYC as well as more media appearances
Chat - In addition to physical releases and even more appearances across the US this time, their first ever appearance in Korea as Girlset! Also way more pre-release promos with billboards and social media presence
I love to see it and it makes me really excited for the eventual release of their EP! I hope they make it a huge, hyped up event with everything we're seeing and more because it's what they deserve for being THE global girl group to release banger after banger

Therapist was offended that I asked to adjust how we were doing sessions
I've been doing therapy on and off for over 20 years now and have had some really amazing experiences with it, but have also seen some pretty shitty therapists as well. One of the things I recognize is that a therapist can also be wonderful but just not the right fit for you. There's nothing wrong with that.
I had been working with a CBT therapist I really like since the beginning of the pandemic, but one of the things that came up for me last year was that I was ruminating a LOT about a specific topic and about two months ago she brought up that I may have a specific kind of OCD that consists of issues with rumination.
I never once in my life had a mental health professional even suggest that I had OCD so I just never thought about it, but in looking up "pure O" OCD, a lot of it really did feel like it fit. I learned that standard talk therapy can also be very harmful when it comes to pure O OCD, which also made a lot of sense as sometimes therapy sessions could feel a lot more harmful than helpful.
My insurance accepts Rula, so I asked them to match me with a therapst that does ERP (exposure and response prevention) therapy, which is the specific kind of specialization that can help people with pure O OCD. There was only one person available with that speciality so I was set up to start with her. At first she seemed okay. Nice enough older woman who I didn't necessarily connect with on a personal level, but I was fine with that.
We started off doing very basic things like learning how to calm your vagus nerves and she would ask me to read off of a printed sheet of paper and then respond to questions like, "do you know what fight or flight means?" It honestly felt like being in elementary school and with doing so much therapy in the past, it wasn't what I was looking for, but I assumed it was only going to be for the first few sessions and just stuck it out.
Last week she started shifting towards IFS therapy, which I had mentioned to her I had a bit of experience in last year and this week she continued with IFS which made me confused. She was again asking me really basic questions, but it started to feel really off because they were questions that I had already given her answers to when we discussed certain topics the week before and one of my biggest red flags when working with a therapist is them giving signs that they're not listening to what you say. It's completely normal for a therapist to forget specific details, but if I just spoke to you about something one week ago, I don't think it's unreasonable for me to expect you to remember that.
At a certain point as she was going over her lessons on IFS, I paused things to let her know that I didn't think what we were doing was helpful for me as it wasn't touching on the specific reasons I was seeking out therapy and that it felt like I was repeating myself when I had already given specific details on things a number of times. I told her that I understood why she works in the way she does and that I'm sure it's helpful for some clients but that I was looking to try something different that might help me more.
She immediately smiled but got defensive and said that I had a "need to control sessions" and at that point I was like, oh fuck all the way off. I truly, truly hate when therapists get butt hurt and defensive when you address issues you have as a client and rather than try to adjust or learn, they try to throw bullshit back at you as if the reason things aren't working are your personal fault.
I already knew I didn't want to work with her anymore but she pretty much told me that I should find someone else because she didn't think we'd be a good fit anymore and I just hate that she was my only option for ERP. The insane thing that I've been thinking about since is that I don't even know if she was telling the truth when she listed ERP as her specialization because we NEVER once touched on ERP or even OCD in general during my sessions these past two months.
Sorry for the long post. It just feels really fucking disappointing when people who are supposed to be mental health professionals can't even handle the most basic of suggestions. It's not fucking about YOU, it's about me, the person paying you a shit ton of money, trying to get help instead of grade school level techniques on how to breathe in and out.
