News on Black Pearl's BBQ — the owner needs a kidney transplant

If you wondered what happened to the Black Pearl's BBQ truck, its owner Mario Whaley has been battling kidney failure for a while now and is in urgent need of a kidney transplant. He's searching for a living kidney donor. In this video he talks about what the food truck and his family mean to him. The courage it takes to be so vulnerable — you just got admire it.

I'm sharing to get the word out for him and to hopefully give Philly back the BBQ so many people loved. 💚

How would you share this military spouse's story?

Looking for brainstorming help on behalf of a military family in need.

I'm trying to help a husband and father named Fernando Moreno — a proud military spouse to Air Force Veteran Sherry Moreno — get his story shared. He is on dialysis and in urgent need of a kidney transplant. They are searching for a living donor, but come from a very small community. We put together this webpage, but getting his story shared with a broader audience has been difficult.

https://www.thegreatsocialexperiment.net/jefferson/fernando-moreno

We're trying to figure out the best ways to get his story seen among the military community. If they were your friends or family members, where would you share it? What groups, organizations, employers, media outlets, or community pages should know about him?

Any ideas are appreciated.

I don't live in Central PA, so i'm looking for some brainstorming help.

I'm helping a gentleman named Ahmad Collins — a husband, father, and Central PA resident — who is on dialysis and urgently needs a living kidney donor. We put together this video and his webpage:

We're trying to figure out the best ways to get his story seen locally. If this were your friend or family member, where would you share it? What groups, organizations, employers, media outlets, or community pages should know about him?

How would you share this story in the drumming community?

Hey everyone, hoping to tap into some collective knowledge here.

I'm an advocate with an organization that helps dialysis patients who are in urgent need of a kidney transplant share their story in hopes of finding living kidney donors. One of the patients I'm working with, Raymond Rice, is a husband and father in Philly — and drumming is his life's passion. He played for many years before he got sick, and is doing his best to work part-time as an audio engineer at his church. He talks about it in a short video on his page here:

https://www.thegreatsocialexperiment.net/temple/raymond-rice

I'm trying to get his story in front of people who'd actually connect with that part of his story, and figured you all would know corners of the drumming world I don't — YouTube channels, forums, Facebook groups, or communities where something like this might resonate. With renewed health, he'd be able to play again.

Worth knowing: living donors don't need to be local. Anyone in the U.S. can get evaluated and donate near them, so your ideas don't need to be in Philly.

Appreciate any leads.

If you wondered what happened to the Black Pearl's BBQ truck, its owner Mario Whaley has been battling kidney failure for a while now and is in urgent need of a kidney transplant. He's searching for a living kidney donor. There's a video on his page that talks about what the food truck meant to him, plus more info on how living donation actually works.

How would you spread this story among Truckers?

Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some brainstorming help.

My friend Fernando Moreno from Vineland, NJ is on dialysis and urgently needs a living kidney donor. Trucking isn't just his career — it's who he is, and he's hoping to get back behind the wheel. He mentions that on his webpage: https://www.thegreatsocialexperiment.net/jefferson/fernando-moreno

I'm trying to get his story in front of as many truckers as possible, and I figured this community might have ideas I haven't thought of. Do you know of any podcasts, YouTube channels, Facebook groups, newsletters, or organizations where something like this might land well?

One thing worth knowing: living donors don't need to be local — anyone in the U.S. can be evaluated and donate near them.

Thanks for any leads.

Can you spare one share a week to help save a life?

Hi everyone — I work with people who are in urgent need of a kidney transplant. Finding a living donor is lifesaving, but many patients don't have a big community and are too sick to search on their own. The Angel Advocate program lets volunteers amplify their voice on social media with a simple weekly share. It works — we just need more people. Please watch the video and consider being an Angel Advocate volunteer. 🙏

How would you spread this story among environmentalists?

Looking for some brainstorming help.

My friend Raymond Minarovic is a resident of Allentown, PA, who is on dialysis and urgently needs a living kidney donor. More than anything, his passion (and job) is protecting the environment — which he mentions on his webpage:

https://www.thegreatsocialexperiment.net/temple/raymond-minarovic

We're trying to figure out the best ways to get his story shared, and I figured if there were any people that might relate or care about someone with a shared mission, they would be here.

Even though Raymond lives in PA, we are anxious to get his story shared anywhere across the USA.

Any ideas are appreciated. 🙏

Be An Angel Advocate

Hi everyone, I run an organization called The Great Social Experiment that works with transplant centers to help patients find a living donor by helping them tell and share their story. We produce social media for the patients on a weekly basis and mobilize their community to share that media. To help patients who have a small social circle, we invite strangers, Angel Advocates, to help them reach a broader audience. As living donors, you are the best advocates they could ask for!

Angel Advocates only receive one email per week with social media links to click and share for a specific patient who really needs help. It takes about a minute per week. We have found multiple living donors through our Angel Advocate program. I invite you to participate. :) https://www.thegreatsocialexperiment.net/angel
