Was sind eure Lieblingswürstlstände? Brauche unbedingt mehr Tipps.

What are the differences between Alcoholic Wine, Low Alcoholic Wine and Non Alcoholic Wine?

The primary distinction between these wine styles lies in how the alcohol is managed during or after the winemaking process, which significantly affects both the legal classification and the sensory experience.

Alcoholic Wine

Traditional wine is the result of yeast consuming the natural sugars in grapes and converting them into ethanol and carbon dioxide. In this category, alcohol is more than just an intoxicant; it is a fundamental structural component. It acts as a solvent for aromatic compounds, provides the "body" or viscosity (the weight of the wine on the palate), and balances the natural acidity and tannins.

Low Alcoholic Wine

Low-alcohol wines are often produced through viticultural or "natural" methods rather than industrial extraction. Winemakers may harvest grapes earlier when sugar levels are lower, or choose specific varieties and cooler climates where grapes do not ripen as intensely. In some cases, the fermentation is simply stopped before all the sugar is converted, which often results in a wine that is both lower in alcohol and naturally sweeter, such as a Moscato.

De-alcoholized / Non Alcoholic Wine

While these terms are frequently lumped together, they represent different levels of "absence." to be strict.

De-alcoholized wine starts its life as a regular alcoholic wine. Once the fermentation is complete, the alcohol is removed using sophisticated technology like Reverse Osmosis (a filtration process) or Vacuum Distillation. The latter is particularly effective because it lowers the boiling point of alcohol, allowing it to evaporate at room temperature so the wine isn't "cooked." Legally, these wines can contain up to 0.5% ABV, which is a trace amount similar to what you might find in a very ripe banana or some sourdough breads.

Non-Alcoholic wine, on the other hand, is held to a stricter standard, usually requiring less than 0.05%. Many products labeled "alcohol-free" skip the fermentation process entirely, consisting instead of grape juice blended with botanical extracts and acids to mimic the complexity of wine. Because alcohol is a major carrier of flavor and provides a warming sensation, removing it entirely often leaves the wine feeling "thin." To compensate for this loss of body, many producers add a small amount of sugar or grape must to provide a more satisfying mouthfeel.

Krispel Zero 2025, Austria

The Krispel Zero 2025 is a refreshing, de-alcoholized wine that offers a sophisticated alternative for those seeking a non-alcoholic experience without sacrificing flavor. Characterized by its vibrant and lively profile, the wine features prominent notes of green apple and citrus, complemented by a delicate hint of elderflower.

To maintain the authentic character of the grapes, the winery uses a gentle de-alcoholization process that preserves the primary aromas and ensures a well-balanced acidity. On the palate, it remains structured and crisp, making it an excellent companion for light appetizers, fresh salads, or seafood. It is best enjoyed well-chilled at a temperature of 6–8°C, serving as an ideal choice for health-conscious occasions or as a light aperitif.
