Not sure why the audience wasn’t cracking up every time they said this. I couldn’t stop laughing at the idea of him playing there. Like what would the visuals be? Haha
That crowd did seem lame last night. I know they had to go through a lot throughout the show, but the vibe seemed off from the start. As a longtime fan, I thought there would’ve been a bigger pop for Jeremiah’s intro and an even bigger one for Harland’s; but the crowd was pretty unresponsive. Not to mention the crowd was practically silent compared to last week’s episode when Pat walked out. So I don’t know. Weird episode.
So I saw Santana this past Saturday in Dallas. Took this picture. Of course I know of Phish opening for Santana back in the day, Perazzo sitting in with Phish for Halloween and those other Fall 96 shows, and Carlos sitting in with TAB. But seeing him live really made me realize the influence he had on Trey’s playing and Phish’s jamming, etc… And this might be a noob observation, but it occurred to me that the way Trey will tease certain songs was totally influenced by Carlos. He did it quite a bit throughout the show. What’re y’all’s thoughts on Santana and the Phish connections? Or thoughts on Santana in general?
The pic is from 2015. I got the shirt a few years before that I think.
PLEASE try to limit taking a million pictures and videos during the shows. Take a few here or there, if you really need to. But these shows are being filmed for future release. There’s plenty of videos already on YouTube, too, and pictures everywhere, as well. Remember how fun the crowds are on the Rush in Rio, R30, and Time Machine releases? Bring that same sorta energy! Sing along, jump around, have fun, and live in the moment! Thank-you!
Sincerely,
everyone that’s going to be living vicariously through this release for years to come
So, I got into the band at the very beginning of 3.0. I was a Who fan before becoming a jam band/Phish fan. So discovering the Quadrophenia show was my gateway into Phish. I was a fan of a lot of other classic rock before Phish, too. So I was familiar with other covers they would do, also. But then I discovered a lot of new songs and bands through covers they would do, too. I know at the beginning of 3.0, they went pretty heavy on the covers in setlists and then they scaled back on them and dropped a ton from the rotation. Does anyone else wish they would bring them back more? I feel like the covers has always been part of the Phish experience. What cover do you wish they would play more? Or on the flip side, what song do you wish they would cover?
It was my sixth time seeing them! The first time being on the S&A tour in 2007! Such an incredible show. Every time. Never thought I would ever get to see Alex and Geddy onstage again. And I’m so glad I was able to! Here’s to hoping for a speedy recovery for Geddy!
