Thoughts on preschool?

I’m currently staying home with my 18 month old and 3 year old (3 year old will be 4 in November). I only started staying home with them a little over a month ago. My 3 year old was very used to the structure and routine of daycare. She still constantly talks about her daycare friends and teachers. Although it isn’t an option to send her back to that particular daycare, there are several preschools in our area that offer scholarships. I’ve been contemplating if I should start sending her to preschool or not… she seems to be awfully bored at home. Tbh, she’s been having a lot of screen time. Between caring for my 18 month old and housekeeping, I find myself with little mental energy to do activities with her, and I feel guilty about it. I also feel a little guilty sending her to preschool since I only just started staying home with her. Am I just a lazy mom? 😔

Any other SAHMs send their kiddos to preschool? I would love to hear your thoughts/experiences.

Loan modification experiences

Hello, hoping to hear some experiences from those who have gone through a mortgage loan modification.

Specifically, I am wondering how extensive the process was and what exactly the lender did to modify the loan.

Some background: Husband and I are in a tight spot. We’re in the middle of filing chapter 7 bankruptcy, and I had to quit my job because childcare for our three young children was unaffordable. We’re getting by, but things are tight. We are in a difficult position with our house; we don’t have enough equity to sell, plus it’s not a seller’s market right now, so we’re stuck with a shitty interest rate (6.87) and a high monthly payment for one income (2,500). In hindsight, I regret buying our house. The lender made us feel like we could afford it, but in reality, it’s unaffordable.

I’ve been looking into applying for a mortgage modification. Surprisingly, there isn’t a ton of anecdotal information out there. I would love to have a lower interest rate but I don’t know how likely that actually is.

Does it seem likely that we’d qualify given our specific situation? Any insight/advice is appreciated!

Flagged listing for incorrect sizing and they did nothing

I bought this shirt on Thredup last year listed as a size medium (second picture). I sent it in a clean out kit a few weeks ago, and they listed it as an estimated 2x (first picture). They didn’t take a picture of the tag by the neck, only the one on the bottom of the shirt, which doesn’t show the size. I tried flagging it for review several times for incorrect sizing and they’ve done nothing, and now it’s relisted 🙄 so annoying!

Sweet Repeat Pants - ISO

I wanted these pants in Pink Combo before they went on clearance. I was planning to buy them this week, but unfortunately they sold out of my size (medium). Does anyone know if there’s a chance they’ll be restocked? Or, does anyone know of any stores that have them and may be able to ship? Or… anyone have them in a size medium that they’re willing to sell? 🙏

Does this shirt look ridiculous?

I bought this free people cami secondhand and I want it to work so bad, but I fear it looks silly with the boob section going halfway across my bust… or is it not that bad?? Please be honest.

Squat form check?

I’ve been going to the gym consistently for about 5 months now. I know I’ve made some progress with my squats, but I always feel like my form is off. Appreciate any tips!

Identity theft while preparing to file chapter 7

Anyone ever go through this before? Someone recently used my SSN to open a credit card account in my name. I’ve placed a fraud alert, froze my credit, etc. but I’m worried this will screw me over.

Quitting job before filing

Hello, here’s my current situation. Dual income household, partner and I are both planning on filing for bankruptcy soon. We pay around $1500 in childcare per month, and it’s going to go up $400 in August. I’m planning on quitting my full time job to be a stay at home mom. I make about 51k/year, net pay is around $2500/month. I have found a part-time job as an independent contractor for 8-10 hours/week that will pay me $18/hour.

If I were to stay at my full time job, the lawyer we consulted with said we are pretty borderline for the means test. (My partner makes around 75k/year plus bonuses). I think going to part time will help us pass. I’m aware that quitting my job before filing could be viewed as fraud, but given my current situation, I feel that this is a legitimate life decision that makes sense for us. Will this screw us over? Should we wait to file for a few more months?

*Editing to add that we have not officially signed anything with the lawyer yet, but we are planning to. During the consultation, I brought this up and he hinted that it would be beneficial for us, but he didn’t say it directly.

I feel completely torn

I currently work full time; my job is overall pretty flexible and I work from home the majority of the time. My benefits are excellent, including retirement. I think I’m pretty good at what I do and although it can be stressful at times, it’s manageable. I enjoy it overall.

Lately, I’ve been considering quitting so I can stay at home with my kids. My oldest is starting kindergarten in August, and I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. I know how hard staying at home is- I got a taste of it while I was on my maternity leaves, and I struggled. However, now that my kids are older, I think I could handle it. I’m also in a better place mentally (thanks Lexapro!). The only way for this to be financially possible would be for me to find a part time evening job, and work 20ish hours a week. I have applied to a couple of caregiving jobs, which is pretty much my only option with the schedule and flexibility I’m looking for. Financially, we may even have a little more left over every month if I go this route.

My husband really wants me to quit so we can stop paying for daycare and I can stay home with the kids. Part of me does want to do this because my kids are only this little for such a fleeting moment in time… I want to cherish it. But also, I like my job and the benefits are great. I worry that I’ll regret quitting. Honestly, I don’t feel too strongly either way.

I feel like I will get vastly different responses if I post this in the workingmoms and sahm subs, so I’m posting here to hopefully get some neutral perspectives. If you were me, what would you do? Is it truly the best thing for my kids for me to stay home with them?

“I assume you stay at home with the kids?”

My husband and I have been thinking about buying a new construction home. I went by myself today to check it out while my husband stayed home with the kids. The sales lady started asking for our information to do a soft pull for the lender, and first thing she says is “I guess we’ll start with your husband’s income since I assume you stay at home with the kids?”

In this economy??? Absolutely not. I laughed and said “I do work actually”. And she was like “wow, with three little ones? You’re a superwoman!” Heck yeah I am 💅💅
