Any benefits from buying a Luxe Pro directly from SharkNinja vs any other online retailer like Amazon?
Will it be better in case it malfunctions? I’m in Spain, by the way

It felt like a weird choice to begin with, to only do one episode being that it got released on a binge. Maybe they just didn’t had time to watch the whole thing, that’s fine. But why don’t go back and review the rest?
Or do you treat Curse as a fun extra to watch after?
You can’t pick CR Month or From Hell Month. Other than that, all is eligible.
Without a doubt, the stretch with the most bad movies in a row in the history of the pod. I challenge anyone to find a contender.
The episodes might be fun, sure. But the spirit of the pod isn’t to roast awful movies, it’s to celebrate them. We gotta turn things around fast!
First off, I wanted Gunn to succeed with DC. I loved the idea of a creative driven superhero studio and he seemed to have the right attitude.
But I guess it’s an impossible task in this environment. If every 9 months you have to release a big blockbuster that needs 400M to break even, then you have to make a lot of compromises and water down the product. So then end result is something that doesn’t make enough money and also everyone finds mediocre at best. Long gone are the days in were straight up bad movies like the first Captain Marvel one could do 1 billion just by existing.
I think a good lesson would be to just do smaller budget movies (like what they’re doing with Clayface), experiment with R ratings, other genres, less stakes, less interconnected stories, no end of the world CGI slopfest third act battle… and save the big budgets for one Superman movie every 4 years. That way you could do something sustainable, keep the (smaller) fanbase happier and not burn out the casuals with so much output.
But who am I kidding? The lesson they’ll learn will be to give a 300M budget for the next one to Shawn Levy or another yes man and hope for the best.
I just made a post about the recent-ish Sorcerer resurgence, and someone said that the movie had been out of circulation before (no high quality copies on print and not available digitally), which was a good point.
Let’s be strict with the “out of circulation” thing, though. This is not a “I wish there were a 4K out” or “it’s not on Netflix or Criterion but you can easily buy/rent a digital copy” situation.
One example I can think of is “The Heartbreak Kid” (the original). I don’t think it’s ever been released on blu-ray, just dvd (probably out of print by now). Also you can’t buy a digital copy and it’s not on streamers. Hell, even the pirate files out there are sourced from the dvd, so I don’t think it’s even been remastered in HD. Apparently some pharmaceutical company owns the rights and has no interest in doing anything with it.
Are there others like that currently?
P.D.: typo in the title: filmS
I know there’s no narrative and the movies are a series of stunts and pranks. But there was a very popular tv show when the first Jackass got released on theaters.
Does one miss much of the context around Jackass by just putting on the first movie? Should you seek out episodes of the show first? A documentary?
I’m not gonna pretend “Sorcercer” was unknown to cinephiles up until now, but it’s clearly spiked in popularity during the past 5 years or so. And I don’t know exactly why. Obviously it’s a masterpiece and with a good narrative of the behind the scenes and release. But why didn’t it have this same massive cult status in 2010?
Are there other titles like it? That somehow become en vogue for anyone with even just a casual interest in movies?
Everytime I tried to google this I get more confused. I think I’m getting the broad strokes but then I’m immediately lost again.
Let’s take Ari Aster for example, apart from the movies he’s also directed he has produced a few. Some as just “producer” others as “executive producer”. How does his involment differs between those?
Just out on PVOD. Is it worth seeking out?
I’ve been following the Uwe Boll “Citizen Vigilante” news lately. Not surprisingly, the movie has utterly abject morals and also very shitty filmmaking, by the clips circulating online.
My question is, could a film like this ever be good? I’m not talking about films with antiheroes. Obviously, a lot of Scorsese movies depict awful people as protagonists but no one with a minimum of literacy would accuse him of endorsing them.
So, is it possible to make good art within that frame?
A good Word War II and football film. Directed by John Huston, nonetheless.
Michael Caine with a lot of charisma. Stallone in a non-action role and even Pelé in a minor role.
There was a lot of fear that it would negatively impact the movie selections when it was announced. Some said we’d get Netflix originals or that the quality of the picks would suffer when being limited to only titles available on the platform.
I think those are been proven wrong. They do a lot of picks that aren’t on Netflix and also it seems Simmons has enough muscle to make them license particular movies just for the pod.
I think the move hasn’t been bad. Only downside is no Youtube, but you can still find the video on Spotify. I personally always picked the audio feed.
By “forgotten” I just mean one that rarely gets mentioned for whatever reason, but that you think it’s an all-timer. It could be because the movie was very obscure or maybe the guests didn’t look that enticing from the outside…
A couple that I love:
- Internal Affairs. Maybe the most I ever laughed listening to the pod. Also, quite good movie. Gere showing a rare much more nastier side than what we’re used to.
- Days Of Thunder. CR having amazing chemistry with Brandt and eveyone sharing anecdotes about the cocaine 80s and the Simpson/Bruckenheimer crazy productions.
