Melo or Maharani? Seller insisted it’s a Melo “light”

Bought it under the premise it was a mature melo for a breeding project. Once it arrived it was immediately clear that it was a maharani. Contacted the seller and they never responded. Ended up questioning them during a live because they tried selling corms that were labeled as melo corms. I asked if they were off the mother plant they sent me. They said they weren’t sure, I said okay well because the mother plant isn’t a melo it’s a maharani.

They said they have this cultivar called melo light and the regular Melos have red undersides. I said no the Melos always have light green undersides the red indicates it’s a hybrid. Still never responded to my messages offering to make it right just said they had to research the taxonomy. I just ended up leaving and disputing bc it was clear they’d rather just dodge accountability and make the situation right. Anyways, I just need to vent and also get confirmation that it is in fact, a maharani lmao

Variegated Alocasia Longiloba

Seller thought it’d fully reverted so sold it to me as a regular longiloba. Appears to have very subtle green on green/aurea variegation.

New beginnings 🥰

Decided to do a top cutting because the plant was starting to look real goofy with the new leaf haha

Costa Farms White Monster

Consensus: definitely a white monster due to the reversion on super young leaves - hoping I can enhance the existing variegation with strong lighting and fertilizer. Can already tell this plant is going to stress me out lol, it is probably the most interesting plant purchase to date as it clearly was putting out all green leaves at one point and then just went *naw* haha. Overall pretty happy with this purchase.

One week later - definitely a giant leaf coming in - unsure about the variegation

It’s already as long as the second youngest leaf and it’s not even fully unraveled. Unsure about the amount of fenestration but the variegation - from the brief glimpses I’ve seen so far - seems to be about average for this plant.
