Ever try and bring divinity to Dark sun?

So, I found out about the Dark Sun setting via the new dnd 5.5 announcement, and i'm super excited for it. Ive seen plenty of grimdark settings, but something about Dark Sun is just... special? Diving into the lore I find the setting crazy interesting and how everything and everyone is just BARELY surviving. How magic is basically killing the planet, water is rare, and metal is rarer.

But the thing that has my attention is the lack of gods in the setting. Most settings ive seen have a form of divinity which allows players to use divine classes and subclasses, but apparently theres something that prevents the divine (and infernal) from existing on the planet, with a thick barrier outside the world being a popular theory as to why.

Made me wonder what if a god actually managed to establish a link to the world? A player with genuine holy healing powers, however weak it would be, being born. Has any player group or DM experimented with this?

So, what makes the Louisiana event so different?

From what I gather from the lore, this event is different from the other supernatural events thats been found around the world. Is it because of the sculptor? Because of how bad the situation got that the local AHA branch fell apart and now its a giant warzone?

Had a business idea, would it work? Magic Bank.

So how successful would a "magic bank" be for independent mages/craft and those not under the umbrella of the union or traditions?

Like, let's say some wealthy mages got together and created a small-medium level bank that caters to this particular customer base. The idea goes along the lines of: You want to do magic shit, but you need to keep gas flowing for warm water and pay you electricity bill. Yes, a clever mage could "magic" away the problems, and it could even be easier with a cabal. But this still takes time and effort, and theres only so many times you can bring a gold brick to the local pawnshop or have an ATM spew out cash before attention is drawn. Not to mention, living a life standard above poverty is going to have the taxman come asking questions how you can afford all this WITHOUT a job?

This is where the bank comes in. For a trade, this bank will provide not only legitimate money but may even include paper trails and other benefits to make it easier to file taxes and take care of life necessities without spending the time, effort, and risking paradox to make things work out.

The price? Two main options. First one would obviously be tass for cash. Perhaps one of these clever bank mages has created an artifact that gauges how pure and effective the tass you brought in (gold coins, etched bones, Cystal bundles, ancient tree branches, etc) and translate it into physical cash. Think a mystical pawnshop. However, not every independent mage, cabel, or even craft has access to a steady supply of tass. Which leads to the second option. This would be something like a subscription service. Depending on what level you choose, you'd be expected to occasionally provide services to this bank. This would scale to the level of funding you request.

This could range from simple labor here and there, putting those unique skills you have to good use (nothing to bad otherwise it would defeat the purpose of going to the bank in the first place), to creating artifacts and other things for them to use (this would be a discussion for what the mage in particular is skilled at), to handling business on behalf of the bank (maybe they have no local presence in the area, but you are closer than they are). These agreements would be binding via magical contracts.

Breaking these contracts would induce punishments that scale with the type of plan you have. If you have the lowest level plan, then your funding may just stop, and you'd be blacklisted until you pay them back. This is a pretty minor thing. But what if you are more malicious and just want to make a cash grab. More severe punishments exist. Maybe you come across horrific bad luck, which oddly enough, cause only enough damage where fixing it would cost the same amount of money you took from the bank, maybe you are not only blacklisted from the magic bank, but also ALL mundane banks and whatever enlightened ones exist too. Worse yet, perhaps some "specialists" pay you a visit to repo your magic tower.

This bank serves mostly independents (and perhaps the Disparate Alliance too) since the Technocracy has the syndicate and the Traditions would likely not need them since they probably have their own resources cultivated.

The thought randomly occurred to me at work, and I put more time into thinking about it then I thought I would. Lmao.

Help a fella out, what’s going on with v6?

Haven’t had a chance to ever play v5 aside from like two games, so I’ve never really clicked with it as some people have. But lots of (funny) posts are not very pleased with some V6 chances, particularly with mechanical changes and subtle lore stuff.

Can someone with knowledge explain to me what’s changed, why is it getting flak, and if this has any difference from back when people from V20 looked at 5e with fear?

Is it confirmed that Red players cannot harm Red blights?

Just curious. Browsing old videos and whatnot, and normally I havent seen a situation where a normal player tries to attack a blighted one who's on the same team. Have I missed something where this clearly happened? Or does everyone just assume you cannot teamkill blights? Would make for an interesting moment if Dicksalot got cornered and panic shot a blight who's on the same team, to actually KILL it.

Looking for funny but discreet mods

Planning on starting a game with my friends, and we haven’t really messed with mods yet and I wanted to surprise them by playing on a local server so they can’t see what I’m installing. Does anyone have any recommendations for mods that don’t immediately pop out like player model changes for the survivors but are still funny when coming across them? I know one funny one is a charger animation that looks like the survivors getting back shots which is hilarious but I can’t find that.

So how dangerous is night city and the surrounding area in 2045?

Just wanting a summary of how bad things currently are. I know in 2045 people are rebuilding and Corps are being checked (sorta) due to them running wild during the 4th corporate war. Im aware of the combat zones, but Im just sorta curious what the general safety levels are in night city and the surrounding area players might travel too.

If they leave the city, how likely are they to run into a mad max style go ganger ambush? How often are full on gang wars in the city? Are there places other than the combat zones where corpos and government dont travel without anything less than a small army?

I enjoyed Matrix Resurrection for giving me something I wanted to see

Humans AND machines working together. IO was a really cool concept, and I loved how the two species worked together to achieve a level that Zion could never reach. Seeing the Synthients and their non-combat forms was really cool. I like to imagine, just as the machines help humanity bring over food from the matrix, humanity could help finally remove the dark clouds.

Terminator and Matrix I think were the first movies that introduced me to the "Man vs Machine" concept that lead to global war. Which was of course a fun concept, and we've all seen the ending "humanity finally destroys the machine", but one concept I dont think I really saw before was "What if peace happened without one side wiping out the other and what would that co-existence look like"?

Fun movie regardless

Will there be any more content?

Love the night city atlas, but was just wondering if anyone has heard about any more content supplements in the future or if Night city was there last big one?

Do you think Otto Hightower regretted his actions?

Given his fate in the newest episode, do you think as he was being led to his death, that he thought "This was a bad idea."

I havent read the books but I enjoyed the show, and the damage from the dance of dragons was pretty significant to all sides. So many important nobles and dragons dead with the lands scarred from the brutal civil war.

I can't help but wonder if he underestimated just how big the conflict was going to get.

Did I miss a scene where Otto mentioned he regretted it, or does the books go into depth about it?

So, what's singularity about?

So from what I gather from the public description, the travellers encounter a super powerful AI that basically recruits the players and gives them access to wild technologies that lets them change charted space however the AI and players desire, right?

I have yet to get into a game of traveller, but the game seems to emphasize that while players can get pretty powerful, they arent "heroes". Is this book basically giving them alot of toys to play with? If so, I think thats a pretty fun concept.

Have any particular imperial factions ever go too far?

Just sorta curious. I’m a passive fan that hasn’t read much except for bits of lore I discovery, and a thought had occurred to me. Lots of various factions within the imperium tend to have a lot of power in their own circles, doing whatever they want as long as it’s not blatant treason.

Was curious to know if there’s been times when said groups go too far and illicit a visit from karma. Some examples include Admech turning the wrong person into a servitor or an inquisitor blowing up one planet too many.

Any popular examples?

Do you think after John Wick concluded, the High table attempted to reduce the independence of the Continentals?

I loved all the movies and I cannot wait for the game. Between the Osaka and New York rebellions, do you think the high table will take steps to reduce the hotel's power? Or do you think that would cause too many headaches?

Cell specialization?

Do you think Delta Green has specialized cells for specific tasks rather than a mishmash of various types?

For example, a cell of scientists for conducting research on recovered alien fungus or a cell of doorkickers specifically meant to breach a cult base (but not level a whole town like with using a CORAL NOMAD team)?

Anyone do a Magistrate campaign?

Been reading The Realm book and came across it and it sounds like ALOT of fun. Practically unlimited power yet gotta walk a tightrope since the empress is gone and everyone is carving up the empire and you are one of the biggest threats to that.

Is raiding worth it?

I’ve been on a long hiatus for banner lord. It’s been a long time, and I finally started getting back into it, especially after the major update and war sails. just wondering if they made village and caravan raiding better now. It’s been a long time, but I know it tanks relationship and didn’t give really good returns. Just wanting to know if it’s any better now since I finally got to mercenary and I’m thinking about doing that as a source of income and fun.

Also, does that do anything on a larger scale like affect income/supplies for rival kingdoms or is that just a player thing?
