If Communion was only symbolic, why don’t the earliest Christians teach that? They teach the opposite and only history proves that.
So a common Baptist, evangelical, and non-denominational view is that Communion is mainly a symbolic memorial of Christ’s death.
But when we look at the earliest Christian sources, that is extremely difficult to reconcile with the evidence.
The ones who knew Jesus personally, or were taught by his direct disciples.... They never taught or practiced that it was symbolic. Quite the opposite.
Paul writes:
«“Is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?”
— 1 Corinthians 10:16»
He also warns that receiving Communion unworthily makes someone “guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.”
— 1 Corinthians 11:27–29
Then, shortly after the apostolic age, Ignatius of Antioch writes about certain heretics:
«“They do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ.”
— Letter to the Smyrnaeans 7»
Around the mid-second century, Justin Martyr says Christians receive the Eucharist:
«“not as common bread and common drink”»
but as the flesh and blood of Jesus.
— First Apology 66
Later in the second century, Irenaeus says the consecrated bread is:
«“no longer common bread, but the Eucharist.”
— Against Heresies 4.18.5»
-------
So here is the historical problem with Baptists and non-denominational churches.
If the apostles taught that Communion was merely symbolic, why do the earliest surviving Christians repeatedly speak about it as Christ’s body and blood rather than ordinary bread used only as a reminder?
To be clear, this does not prove every later Catholic doctrine about the Eucharist, and not every Protestant believes Communion is merely symbolic.
But it does create a serious problem for the claim that modern symbolic-only evangelical or non-denominational Communion simply represents the belief of the earliest Church.
* Where is the early Christian evidence for the purely symbolic view?
Has anyone paid attention to what billy has covered/teased with other bands very recent?

The face when you’re about to drop a MONSTER Creek on some MF’ers.
If that was 28 minutes, that was indeed the longest Stand alone Creek ever
The last two longest were NYE Nola 23 and 22. Interchangeable by seconds. 27 minutes long.
That was crazy!!! Amazing having Saxton on the team
Which Spider-Man game do you replay the most—and why?
Out of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2 --- Which one do you find yourself replaying the most?
Is it because of the story, combat, swinging, open world, side content, suits, ext?
Never played the Spider-Man games (Xbox noob)
I have a PC now, and I bought Spider-Man Remastered.
SO, SO, SO, SOOO MUCH FUN.
Steam currently has Spider-Man 2 on sale for $34 and Miles Morales for $20.
Are those two worth buying at those prices?
All my friends, and most of the posts I’ve seen.. Say the original 2018 game is the best, and that Spider-Man 2 gets a lot of things wrong aside from the web-slinging and traversal.
What do you guys think?
What has more replay value?
Pre Tribulation was started by John Darby in the 1800s.
The Apostles didn't teach of a pre tribulation rapture. That was started in the 1800s.
The apostles absolutely taught that Christians would be “caught up” to meet Christ.
But they never taught a secret removal of the Church seven years before His public return.
Jesus places the gathering of His elect “after the tribulation” (Matthew 24:29–31). Paul says our gathering to Christ will not happen until the rebellion and the man of lawlessness are revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:1–4).
The early Church prepared Christians to endure persecution and await one visible, glorious return of Christ—not two separate comings.
The modern pre-tribulation system appeared in the nineteenth century through John Nelson Darby and the Plymouth Brethren. It was later spread throughout American Protestantism by the Scofield Reference Bible in 1909.
The rapture is biblical. Separating it from Christ’s Second Coming and placing it before a seven-year tribulation is the later doctrine started in the 1800s.
Catholic prayers before sleep
Hey all! I've been trying to strengthen my catechism of the Catholic church.
What're some known Catholic prayers to pray before bed? I've been praying the Rosary lately and have used alot of prayers from their so far. Hoping to find some more specifically for nighttime/sleep. Right now before bed I pray; (apart from my own personal prayers)
* Our Father
* The Jesus Prayer (Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.)
* Glory Be
* Hail Mary
* Apostle Creed
* Fatima Prayer
What also should I add for specifically nighttime/bedtime?
Thank you!!
Give me your personal favorite moments from VA

Re-Watching China for the first time in decades.. I dont remember much
No spoilers please <3. Long live survivor and get back to your roots!
I love when I have a season I don't remember much of from back than. As an adult, it's been a treat reliving and watching from Season 1, up until season now 15, China. Some perspectives changed as an adult and some didn't.
Anyways.
* I love looking at Reddit's "ranking of seasons" (SPOILER FREE) before I watch a season. Sometimes I agree with the a ranking and sometimes I'm completely 180. I typically will find a gem in the lower ranked seasons. Season 12 comes to mind tbh.
* * I noticed season 15 China, was ranked extremely high. Very high. I was and am pumped and still am...
But maaaaaaan! Im on episode 6 and im struggling. First time ever I've struggled with a season.. I only struggled with not being bored/not interested in Season 2 (I love Amber too..). And the beginning of season 9 (I remember almost making a post like this one), come to find.. I love the second half of season 9, a major bunch.
I always binge these seasons like candy, and wishing they were longer.. This is my first major road block lol
* * * Is China high on your list? Without spoiling, are you surprised? What am I missing.
The opener and all of episode 1 was incredible, I will note. Best theme award since Pear Island, probably.
Whenever you see meme pictures and everyone on reddit bullish

Any tips on working with 300k, looking for high yield dividends for monthly income
I am looking to generate monthly income for passive retirement, if possible. I own my house, have minimal debt and monthly expenses. My son told me about JEPQ, and returning 11% on monthly dividends seems unbelievable. Literally.
Any recommendations and is it true with JEPQ?
