If I wanted a duck or chicken to enjoy a brief motorcycle ride with me at highway speeds of 55-70mph, what would be the best eye/head protection for the animal?

I searched this sub and saw a cat helmet, that's it. It looked like decent quality actually but it would obviously be too big for a duck or chicken.

I am a mixed POC that lives in Argentina and am annoyed at the hypocrisy and double standards from the black community

To mods, I read the rules and feel this is not a political post. If i violated that I apolgize and I will delete it.

TLDR: I live in Argentina(3+ years) and I have never experienced any racism.

I am 37 y/o male. Born and raised in Southern California. My mom is from Argentina but emigrated to the USA when she was 5 or 6 with her parents. She grew up in Harlem NYC and eventually met my dad, who is black and eventually they moved to California where I was born. If it's relevant she is very white, like pale lol.

If it's relevant, I am not white passing. My experience growing up in southern California was very interesting looking back on it. I never identified with a race or image, I grew up with mostly Mexicans and Filipinos, I moved around a few times, in my mid to late teens is when I had more black friends, and spent more time with my dad's side of the family.

I'm annoyed at the smear campaign I'm seeing towards Argentina, that they are all racists or n\\\*zis as if the USA doesn't have/had it's own issues. Despite living here for 3+ years, and having been here multiple times when I was a kid and teenager, my voice has no credibility because they decide it doesn't, it's very insulting. Through out my youth I was called white boy or whitewashed from either my dad's side of the family or my black friends, many instances from both because of my interests and hobbies. I listened to punk rock, mariachi music, was really into skateboarding all through out my youth, almost was sponsored by a local skateshop at one point, was into surfing, camping. But I was always made fun of and critized for it because this was "white people shit". I just liked what I liked, pursued the things that interested me, to me they were never "white people things" they were just my interests and hobbies.

A few weeks ago I saw a video on instagram of a young black woman who likes to hike and all the comments were from black people making fun of her and saying things like "that's what happens when you grow up around white people" or "she must of been adopted" implying camping is for white people. Whenever I dated a white girl I always got the side eye from my cousins on my dads side of the family. There is such blatant hypocrisy and double standards. It's annoying and disheartening and God forbid if you address it you are considered horrible for defending it.

When I mention that I live here and never experienced racism I am met with the counter argument, "well what about Argentinas blanqueamiento!?" Yes that happened, no one is saying that blanqueamiento didn't happen(the government attempted to ignore the history of African influence, culture and presence in Argentina). Yes it's unfortunate that blanqueamiento happened but it did not catch on well, especially today with the access of information we have. What about slavery, what about Jim Crow laws? Argentina never had racial segregation. The era of blanqueamiento is nothing close to a reflection of the people that are from here and live here. Argentines I have found to be incredibly warm and welcoming, the easiest country to make friends in. A countries history is not an indication of what the people are like today.

Was there racism? Yes, but unfortunately every country has had racism and many still experience it to some degree. But to act like the history of this country is on par with the USA or somehow more deplorable is a laughable comparison and I hope no one pulls a muscle with that stretch.

America has edited so much of it's own history. The horrid atrocities Christopher Columbus committed were always conveniently left out in school, there was a literal concentration camp in San Francisco after the Japanese attacked pearl harbor, how that was never mentioned once in my highschool in CA is insane to me. Thanksgiving in history books just shows happy smiling native Americans and colonizers eating turkey together. We devalue and glaze over so many parts of our own still to this day.

I've been to 15+ countries, I have experienced racism in 2 of them, they were both in Europe. The only times any assumptions about me were made based on my skin color here in Argentina was from Argentines and one time a Brazilian who assumed I'm Brazilian and started talking to me in Portuguese, TBF this happened to me when I lived in south FL too. They were apologetic and embarrassed when I explained I'm not Brazilian but I wasn't offended, it was coming from a place of interest/curiosity. A lot of Argentines like to vacation in Brazil and they just wanted to talk to me about Brazil. But no, Samuel L Jackson said so so fuck the guy that says otherwise that actually lives there.

Edit: to clarify I am not denying the history of the country. I am talking about the people and present day.

I just watched yellowstone

I thought sons of anarchy was a waste time, it still is, but this 10x more. At least SOA was funny cause of how shitty it was. But this is just bad

This entire show is so corny, the acting, the characters.

Not gatekeeping either but as someone who spent significant time in Texas that teeter character, omg what an over the top, exaggerated horrible accent.

I am proud of myself for not finishing the series/wasting any more of my time. I had such high hopes for Yellowstone because of how good 1883 was and everyone telling me how good it was. What a let down.

I never been to Montana, I'd like to one day for nature. I heard that a bunch of people from Montana hate the show and I side with them, I can see why.

I need to read some books to fix my brain.

Im excited to visit Brazil(Curitiba)

I will be going to Curitiba in September. I am a gringo from the USA but I live in Argentina.

I have been wanting to visit Brazil for so long so on a whim about 15 minutes ago I said 'fuck it' and booked my ticket. just want to share that I'm excited and thanks for existing.

I'm a solo traveler and looking forward to visiting the museum shaped like the eye and the botanical garden. I have a few restaurants, cafes and gyms saved too. I'm a simple man, walking around with no plans, drinking coffee, reading a book in a cafe or chill bar is my kind of day.

I need to see some live bossanova before I leave but somewhere calm like a lounge type bar, any recommendations? Random question, but as a single guy traveling alone is there any places or tours I should avoid cause they're more designed for couples? I already anticipate being alone, just wondering if there's some spots best to skip.

Obrigado! 🇧🇷

Triumph scrambler 1200 as a round the world bike?

If not allowed mods I apologize and feel free to take down.

Wondering about the Triumph scrambler 1200 as an ADV bike from USA to Ushuaia Argentina.

I'm not new to motorcycles and been thinking about this trip for a long time. I go back and forth between a proper adv bike like the Honda AT or a KLR and the triumph scrambler. I'm tall and I heard it's a good bike for tall riders and I always been a fan of the scrambler. The thing is the position of the pipes seems not ideal for any type of saddle bags, I am a minimalist though and already planned on traveling extra light.

Rant: People saying you look fine when you express you want to lose weight

Mods if not allowed please delete. It's my first time posting here, I just really want to express how annoying this is.

I have mostly been pretty active the majority of my life, even when I wasn't working out, eating clean or lifting weights, etc. I always had a blue collar job that kept me in decent enough of shape, strength and weight wise. There has been multiple times in my life where I'd be slightly over weight but bounce back fast if I started prioritizing clean nutrition and lifting again.

3 years ago it got really bad, a bad break up followed by the death of my dad I actively made the choice to not care about my health and genuinely let myself go. Some people lose their appetite when they're depressed, I'm the complete opposite. I eat my feelings. I drank a lot every day and ate whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and as much as I could every single time. I blew up to 275 pounds and living a sedentary lifestyle at this point too which really didn't help anything, at 6'2 being that heavy was new for me and very uncomfortable. I became incredibly insecure and turned into a hermit. I managed to get down to 265 and would float around there, but still feeling like shit.

My cousins and I are super close and when I'd visit them I'd express how bad I want/need to start eating healthy again and drop weight, them, my mom, my friends all said the same thing, "but you look fine now". Yea I changed my wardrobe cause my clothes got too small, I still showered and groomed myself and wore properly fitting clothes.

But it's not about how I look, it's about how I feel and in that time in my life I felt like absolute shit. My back hurt more frequently, I'd run out of breath tying my shoes, I hated the version of myself I saw in the mirror. I understand where people are coming from when they say that you look fine and you don't need to lose weight. I really do understand that it's coming from a place of care, acceptance and love. But damn it it's so fucking annoying, especially when they have seen the healthy versions of you. One friend who is just a naturally really skinny guy, him and I were chatting and he isn't involved in the fitness world at all, just super skinny always and I was talking about fasting before I start my diet and how I want to be jacked again, he said "but you're jacked now". At the time I wasn't, I just am tall with broad shoulders and obviously I bought bigger clothes, but no way was I jacked or remotely in shape.

I learned to keep these things to myself and just focus on myself. It's been almost a year now of maintaining a healthy weight, lifestyle and my body and strength is very near to where I want it to be again. Thanks for listening, you know what you want and need to do, just keep going after your goal.

So glad I went with the size 9 for the Heritage Loggers.

My first pair of RW were the Iron Rangers(10+ years ago). I made the mistake of going by how comfortable they felt in the store. 3 months later I was able to slide 4 fingers behind my heel while wearing them. I'm aware insteps exist but I prefer to have a boot that properly fits where I don't need an instep to fill in the empty space.

I commented on this post below with more relevant info if anyone is interested.

Will be my last extended fast for a while cause I'm very close to my goal/ideal weight

Traveling and spending time with family led me to some prolonged indulgence in food and drinking. I was lifting heavy in the gym and feeling great so I wasn't worried or feeling regretful. But I got a really bad impingement in my shoulder and took 3 weeks off. Thats where most of the damage took place. A month of sedentary living and eating like shit.

Before I start carnivore again I decided to do a drastic reset and fast for 7 days, then see how I felt, if I can push it to one more day. Unfortunately I didn't weigh myself when I started, but I did weigh myself about a week prior and weighed in at 241. I was fully clothed at the time, had already drank 2-3 litres at that point that day and was wearing my work boots and weighed in at 241. So my conservative estimate would be 239 if I was only in underwear. I weighed in yesterday morning at 228 but same circumstance, fully clothed, work boots, clothes, water consumption.

So my conservative estimate there will be 226. Am aware only a portion of weight loss during fasting is fat, the rest is glycogen, water, etc. Before I start eating carnivore and training hard I always like to fast prior, I feel it's the best way to zero in and amplify your focus for your goals, whatever they may be and reset your baseline and manage consistency. Truly a fresh start.

If relevant, not my first extended fast, I have done two 7 day fasts in tha past when I was significantly over weight(265+). Broke the fast with 3 eggs, a tin of sardines in olive oil and a bunch of salt.

▲ 33 r/hotdogs

Hi friends, hotdog stand question, need customer perspective.

I'm thinking about doing a hotdog style pop-up once or twice a week at various local events. I want a consumer perspective. I don't want hungry hotdoggers waiting long for the goods so I thought of having like a self serve type of set up for the condiments portion. The classics like chopped onion, relish, mayo, mustard, ketchup and maybe a few others like pickled red onions and pickled jalapeños.

What do you guys think or do you prefer the hotdog artist put your condiments on for you? Everyone is particular with their condiments and I'd hate to disappoint a hotdog customer. I just don't want the line being held up, the flow is important and things get sloppy after a few hours of people scooping stuff.

One idea I had was prepping little cups the night before and just asking what condiments you want. So for example you say onions and pickled red onions and you get 2 little cups of that on the side so you can be on your way with everything you need. But I hate the idea of using one-use plastics so I'd have to find an alternative or a biodegradable option.

It would be me and 1 other person helping me but I don't want people waiting long for their hotdogs, so the flow is important.

Can someone explain the swatch or philip thing drama?

I don't understand it but I find it very entertaining. Also obviously I'm not a serious watch guy. From what I understand both sides of the brand are pissed about it? Like I said, it is very funny to me but I'd like to understand it more so it will be even more funnier.

This happened a few years ago. She was in her 40s at the time and I was in my early 30s. She was cool but my attraction towards her tanked cause she decided to go on a Disney trip and when she went to the theme park her and the group she went with they all wore onesies. She sent me pictures and she just looked so fucking ridiculous to me after that. They were like fluffy animal type onesies if that makes sense. Not that if they were regular onesies it'd somehow be less dumb. There was something just so discouraging about seeing a bunch of adults acting like teenagers but in the dumbest way imaginable.

Cue the "you sound fun at parties" comments 😂
