Could this dress accommodate curve or have I been duped by the mannequin?
This beautiful dress came up on my Vinted home page and I almost swiped it, but then I got a bad feeling that I might end up looking like a plank in it. Compared to the other dresses that David gave me positive feedback on (yellow & black dresses in slide 2), it doesn’t seem to be cut with a curved shape (as shown in slide 2) and idk if that’s a sign or not. I’ve also included some pics of the dress worn on other Vinted users selling it
Sharing the feedback David gave me on my Summer Dresses! 🫶🏾
So yesterday I posted both here and in the SK facebook group seeking feedback about some Summer dresses I’d tried during a recent shopping trip, and on facebook David was kind enough to share his thoughts on them!
He thought the pale yellow and black dresses looked great on me, as did I upon trying them out! However I was a bit disappointed about the blue one upon trying it out and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working. According to David it’s not horrible, but in his opinion it looks off because the designers didn’t fulfill the full integrity of the design between the dress’s bodice & skirt. He described the dichotomy as the top/bodice being “vamp” and the skirt being more “tween party dress” which I totally agree with (about the skirt giving tween party dress, I think it comes across more juvenile than I’d like on myself). So it kind of comes across as trying to tell two different stories or send two different messages if you will, which may not inherently be a bad, but not particularly conducive to a harmonious look. I personally hope that the brand comes out with a dress in the same print that instead commits to a full “vamp” silhouette since that really seems to suit me!
Just sharing this here because I thought it was quite insightful!
Summer dress shopping!😝 What works and what doesn’t?
Went shopping for summer dresses yesterday and these are what I tried on ^-^ I’m considering purchasing them at a later date
I was actually the most excited for the blue dress but was kinda disappointed with how it looked on me idk…. I think it makes me look shorter than I already am which is a no-no for me. I don’t know if it’s the length, dropped waist or both together. I have pulled off a dropped waist in the past though so idk. I’m also not sure that it follows the silhouette guidelines for curve + narrow either :/
I think out of all these the cream/pale yellow is my favorite. Thoughts?
Nobody of any height should disregard the tall types
Am I going to regret posting this? Probably, lol.
I find the hyperfocus on certain heights when it comes to discussion about disregarding the tall IDs interesting, because the reality is that nobody of any height should disregard the tall ID’s since there’s no such thing as being too short for any of them (yes, this includes us 5’0 & below gang lol. I actually wouldn’t be shocked if I ever saw David IRL and he told me I was SD🤷🏾♀️)
It’s true that at 5’4+ you shouldn’t disregard the tall types, but not because 5’4+ is above the global average height for women, but literally because according to Kibbe, you can’t be too short for them (and for the same reason, you shouldn’t disregard the tall types just bc you’re 5’3 and the avg female height in your country is 5’7).
It also seems what’s being implied sometimes is that when you’re between 5’4-5’6 you should look at D/SD/FN “first” because of height stats or probability, but when you approach the DIY method the way Power of Style advises, you shouldn’t be looking at any of the IDs or anywhere else but your line sketch “first”, nor trying to factor what you think your ID is based on height stats or probability into your sketch interpretation (according to Kibbe, so don’t shoot the messenger😅)
I know the method isn’t perfect but I think all this estimation & prediction using stats & the like is exactly what David was trying to avoid with the line sketch. Statistical probability, national/global averages, etc., aren’t meant to be factored into personal line sketch interpretation. National/Global average female heights don’t determine what your personal sketch is showing.
Mica does not get enough praise for how she handled herself in the face of Simba’s hideaway tantrum.
I know the hideaway tantrum has been talked about quite a bit but honestly, especially given the current social climate, I think it’s entirely too early to stop talking about Mica’s response. The way Mica stood her ground even whilst Simba tried to walk all over her during their chat about the situation next day, & didn’t allow herself to be bullied out of standing by her reasons for not proceeding with him to the hideaway & being done with exploring their connection was absolutely impressive for a 21 year old. I’m not sure who Mica has in her corner back home or what about her upbringing resulted in her having this kind of resolve but cheers to her for handling his behaviour with absolute class.
Mica said she felt going to the hideaway after 2 days of mutual interest was too big of a step for her, and Simba immediately interrupted her to whine about how he doesn’t understand why “people” thought anything “bad” was going to happen in the hideaway. At the end of the day, Mica didn’t have to think anything “bad” or anything at all was going to happen in the hideaway. For her, simply going there was too big of a step too soon because of what it represents in the villa, and that’s plenty reason to not want to. In fact any reason that someone has for not wanting to do something or go somewhere with someone else in the villa needs no further justification, period.
My favorite HTT look for my Image ID thus far (TR)
Shared this in the Strictly Kibbe facebook group a couple weeks back and quite some people liked it, thought people here might like it too😊
I wasn’t sure about whether the shoulder length curls worked but a couple people said that it did so I will be trying out more styles at this length as well!
Did anyone else find themselves gravitating towards silhouettes or HTT looks that fit their ID before settling on it?
Was looking back through some of my fave outfits/HTT looks I’d put together before settling on TR and realized quite a lot of them really do suit the ID and the silhouette recommendation, and really did make me look my best
This is one of my favorites❤️
I find it interesting how sometimes ppl end up unknowingly dressing for their ID and enjoying the outcome before actually settling on it. Anybody else had the same realization about their style? I’d love to see some your fit pics as well!
Can never listen to this song without getting super emotional.
And don’t put on the music video and let me see Lupita’s face when the cameras close in. Imma be a whole mess full on blubbering.
Romantics don’t always have sloped shoulders! ☺️
It's a rather common misconception that sloped shoulders are a hallmark of the Romantic Image ID, but many of Kibbe's verified Romantic celebrities (and clients) actually have straighter shoulder lines instead! On the flipside, sloped shoulders are not exclusive to the Romantic ID as anyone in any Image ID can have them. If you landed on the Romantic Image ID after doing your line sketch, try not to get hung up on whether you have sloped shoulders or not as David doesn’t mention having sloped shoulders as a requirement for any Image ID in the Power of Style workbook :)

How did the lion turtle A) know Aang needed to be found and given guidance and B) know where to find him?
So we all know that Aang spiritually sensed the Lion Turtle approaching the island/beach he was on before he woke up from his and swam towards it
Was it the same spiritual energy that caused the lion turtle to swim by Ember Island in the first place? Did Aang subconsciously put out a distress signal into the spiritual ether?
Like what are the odds that a Lion Turtle just happens to swim by an Island the Avatar is on (and directly toward Aang’s location on the Island at that) at a time when the fate of the world is about to be decided in the first place? Doesn’t seem like a coincidence or plot hole.
Abdominal massage or reflexology for digestive discomfort?
Edit: Ended up having a reflexology session and it was fantastic!
So I just got out of the hospital with a nasty digestive tract infection and I’m still experiencing a lot of digestive discomfort (bloating, gas, cramps etc) which is expected but obviously things can be done to make it a little less uncomfortable in the mean time as my gut heals. I don’t know which between a direct abdominal massage or reflexology session will help facilitate easing some of the discomfort.
Boycott Lyft.
This applies to female passengers but I also wonder if this extends to female drivers as well. What kind of recourse do female drivers assaulted by passengers have? I’d also guess none. I’d highly recommend avoiding Lyft for any reason, whether riding or driving.
Can we get an XXS friendly bra/lingerie brand master list going here?
Been seeing lots of request lately for XXS friendly lingerie brands so I thought this might help. Preferably any brands that offer band sizes in 26, 28 and/or 30. Please state where the brand is based, whether they offer international shipping, and their cup size range
___
I’ve personally had great luck with Boux Avenue, they are based in the UK 🇬🇧 with limited international shipping. They offer a 28 size band size at the smallest that goes from an A all the way up to a G cup in the 28 band. Apparently their band sizes also run small so a 28 is more like a 26. Here’s a link to all the bras they offer in a 28 size band
How realistic is it that “weighted fabric” actually falls like this?
Necessary disclaimer: this is not at all a typing request, more like a “line sketch trouble shooting” post with the intention of better understanding how Kibbe envisions a weighted fabric would fall on the body
——————————————————————————
So I’ve been kind of mulling over my line sketch attempts and I’ve had like, this nagging feeling in the back of my head that maybe fabric doesn’t actually curve inward on me as depicted in the first picture, which is how I’ve been assuming weighted fabric would fall on me. I’m wondering how realistic is it that fabric naturally fall so inward especially around my waist which (and I intend for this to come across in the least braggadocios way possible) is rather small. I’m really starting to doubt that it would naturally curve in in such a way, but I also have literally no concept of how “weighted fabric” acts.
I redid my sketch under the guise that fabric wouldn’t actually curve in so much and would possibly fall much straighter from my shoulders and the result was the sketch shown in the second picture
I don’t know whether I’m on to something or I’m trying to gaslight myself into thinking I accomodate vertical rather than curve so I can potentially live out my FG dreams😅
