Catching Eastern Worm Snake

I've got these all over the property so I know what they look like. I saw a tail of one in my basement and went to get a butler and broom with which to scoop it up and put it in the garden. I took too long and it got away. I'm not freaking out, these lil guys are harmless, I know. I just don;t want to find it with a bare foot or for my cat to play with it. I;m at a loss as to how I could bait and capture it. It's probably doing fine, eating bugs down here. No idea how long it's been inside. Any insights?

Blue eyes, plot point?

A focus is put on Larry's blue eyes early on so we can tell him from Frank, later. At the end when the guy who ate the bugs comes back to retrieve the box from the fire he has Larry's blue eyes. Is there supposed to be a connection I missed?

First time watching through.

Shameless Sefl-Promotion

Only kinda kidding, honestly. Repurposing is my whole thing on my TY shoe, Belle's Hells. I just put out a how-to on getting useful parts and materials from Aluminum Drink Cans. Figure this might be the crowd for it.

No hard feelings if MODs gotta take it down.

Is there a market?

Not at all in a get-rich-quick or even an attempt to turn a profit but... I'm kind of afraid to make anything bigger than a few inches because I don't want to store it or having it banging around, taking up space. Will people buy original works of just kit bashed fun? Just find 'em a home and, maybe, get a few bucks back to replace materials and do it all over again. Sorry if it's a dumb question or not the right place. I won't take any MOD action personally, but no need to be mean, ya know?

Share my pain, Tarzan Boy (1985)

I n1993 this song was remixed and used in a Listerine commercial which was posted to r/vintagecgi. The rabbit hole that sent me down has had this stuck in my head and it's not as much fun as it may sound. Great song, lotta fun but, a terrible ear worm.

Need to Replace FX, every time.

I'm sure that this is a dumb and common question but I don't know where to even begin tracking down an answer. Trying to express a not total lack of knowledge yet still admitting a certain specific ignorance (sorry, it's reddit, I feel I gotta defend my self, preemptively) I'll do my best and put it this way.

I'm very new to the program. I've started making my own MIDI music. I'm using some free plugins for instruments. I'll invest in more/better later. What keeps happening is when I open a project to work on it more i find that I have to re-load the FX because when I play the track(s) I just get a yellow bar and no sound. Once I go back and replace the FX, with the same thing, I get the green bars and sound, just fine. I have to do this on all or most tracks when it happens so I don't know which, if any, plug-in is the culprit since I've been mixing several across a project.

Is it the plugins, something I'm doing/not doing or perhaps the program (still evaluating, btw)? I'm almost certain the answer will be embarrassingly simple. I can tell ya what the plug-ins are, but I don't want to drag anyone before I know if it's my fault or not.

Please help and If I've not made my case well enough, do just ask ( or scroll on). Thank You.

My theory on Miranda Class and the "Refit"

https://preview.redd.it/g44cp4ym0hch1.png?width=1220&format=png&auto=webp&s=fcd2a3438bcde7807268cb963df9c2da8ed20807

What we now know as the Miranda Class (USS Reliant) was the replacement for the aging Constitution class. A wholly new platform built on new technology that allowed, not just for increased capability, by fundamental changes in principals such as separate hulls for habitation and warp drive. Essentially, the Miranda Class is to the Constitution Class what Arleigh Burke Class is to Ticonderoga Class. Though part of the same system and operating on similar principals, it's a whole new hull, keel up, made for the purpose and designed to improve upon it's predecessor. Certain concerns in the Star Trek universe, however, perhaps the same cabal Admiral Cartwright is discovered to be part of in The Undiscovered Country, did not want to see the fleet reduced with the systematic retiring of the older hulls.

While moth-balling would be an option it would mean that the surviving Constitution Class ships wouldn't be ready, in operating condition, nor up to fleet standards if they were needed. Enter Commander Decker and the project he lead to incorporate the newer technology from the Miranda Class in to the hull of the Constitution Class Enterprise. What actually resulted was similar to the tale of USS Constellation IRL. While a frigate sailed during the revolution under that name and was said at the time to have under gone extensive refitting to comply with treaty restriction, it was, in fact, entirely replaced with the far more advanced, yet still all sail driven, USS Constellation currently preserved in Baltimore MD. In a practice sometimes called being "sent up river" the old hull was clandestinely broken up and it's parts recycled while the new keel had already been laid-down. Paper work was fudged and no one was ever the wiser for nearly a century. When Decker complains to Kirk that "this is an entirely new ship" I believe that this is what he's referring to. Comparing the schematics, directly, it's clear that the Constitution and this now Enterprise/Constitution II/Refit share only, superficial similarities.

Relegated to "training", Enterprise would remain available to the fleet should she be needed for war even if a lot of compromises needed to be made to force the new systems to work in the old hull. One such compromise is the long intermix shaft that runs up through the, too narrow, neck from main engineering, to the impulse engines. Originally, intentionally, separate systems on the Constitution Class the drive system developed for the Miranda Class integrated both warp and impulse while also incorporating phasers to take full advantage of increased efficiency and power out-put. Not a problem on the more condensed Miranda Class hull.

Khan, having previously studied the schematics of the Constitution Class, likely took similar interest in both the Miranda and "Refit". He, then, would have noticed the blatant vulnerability this made for Enterprise and chose that "sweet spot" expecting it to completely disable weapons and drive, as it did in the film. It's a shame they didn't include any scenes to illustrate this directly.

It seems to me, that the concept of these events in universe were distorted by RPGs that utilized, literal, cut and paste designs made from photo copies of ship plans; inspired by the original Technical Manual. While a modular fleet is an interesting concept and kit-bashing is a lot of fun it doesn't seem to be supported by what we actually see on screen or know from real-world experience. There's just no reason to believe that their would have been something like a TOS era version of the Miranda Class nor the multitudes of fan variants made with Miranda technology. Constellation class (USS Stargazer) is even a bit of a stretch, IMHO. History shows that it's just not the way to build a fleet.

in a further historical parallel, like the Miranda Class a-la DS9, the Arleigh Burke Class is now expected to serve far longer than ever intended as attempts to replace it with newer variants have proven fruitless and wasteful. While the older hulls are being decommissioned, the class as a whole may serve for as long as half a century or longer; which in real-world terms is a very long time. While a new frigate class to replace the failed littoral fleet is in the works, FF(X), It too bares, only superficial similarities to its larger cousin, being an entirely new hull. Scaling technology, just, doesn't work as simply as cut-and-paste/kit bashing. New systems need new accommodations.

Yeah, this is likely to ruffle some feathers and inspire some "um, actually...", give it a chance and you may find it a pretty sound theory, though. I've given it a lot of thought over the years. You may have to google-up some of that stuff on your own to get it, but I brought the receipts. What do you all think?

Cannot decide if this is impressive or deeply unsettling.

They're not even finishing it...

I've been trying to be patient and keep the faith, and I probably shouldn't have but, I looked at the analytics for my first episode. If I'm reading this right, no one is even finishing the video. Not even half. I was considering posting to ask for suggestions to further promote my channel. Now... I don't even know. I fought a lot of shame to give this a shot, at all. This is just... embarrassing.

Repurposing and DIY YouTube

Just put up my first episode. Repurposing and DIY are going to be a big part of my whole thing. The first installment is goggles made from recycled drink cans, so I figured it would fit well around here. I'd also appreciate some feed back. Check it out, please!

On board mic, recording audio, Asus H7606W

Using Reaper and Audacity to record and edit music from a keyboard. I have it plugged into the phono jack and set to recognize it as Line In. Unfortunately it still listens through the onboard mic so I get background/room noise on my recordings. How can I disable the onboard mic and have it only accept line in through the phono jack?

Lap Top Mic

On my window 11 Asus laptop, I've trying to give reaper another shot after going goggled at it a few months ago. Some tutorials are making it a bit less arcane but I cannot solve this one problem out of the box and it doesn't seem to be a common one, not by my google searching so far. I have and old keyboard (Yamaha PSR-19) plugged into the phono jack, which is set to "Mic In" via windows. The onboard Mic, however is still listening so I'm getting everything in the room in addition to my keyboard on a track. I really hope I'm making sense here, I don't have the technical vocabulary (it would seem) and my brain is a bit foggy with allergies today (possibly why I'm so lost). I need Reaper to stop listening to the onboard mic and just hear the old keyboard through the jack. How, though. I can't seem to find a setting or option.

I got a lot of these elastic bands from my Joann when we closed. My initial intent was to just use inside garments but I've b hatched an idea to make fashion goggles (cyber goth/steam punk) but I'd have to hide, cover or otherwise disguise the branding. I've not good ideas, myself l, though. Any ideas how to approach it or is it a fool's errand?

Been at it since 2015, still have a lot of good stuff in inventory, but I just can't do it anymore.

options?

ETA:Look, I'm in an emotional state. I am so tired of this business. When I put my business model together, over a decade ago it was fine. It worked. It was setup for a customer base that just isn't there anymore and that's not my fault. Lego did it. They came in and changed the market to push out those who were directly stealing from them and used brick stores like me were just collateral damage, about which they couldn't care less. Now here I am, just wanting out with no better option than to settle for a lot less than what my inventor really is worth. I can't keep doing this, but I can't just let it all go, not after the amount of time and money that's been put into this. I was doing a good thing, keeping bricks out of the landfill and helping people build their dreams. My prices have always been more than fair. I just can't justify spending hours on one order for a few bucks, to send out one of these and one of those, of only the best stuff, leaving me with bins and bins of shit that won't move. Does no anyone commiserate with me. Is my experience/frustration so unique? How is there no other option than to settle for a buy-out?

SO, If I were to mulch up the leaves leftover from last fall with my mower and scoop 'em up, would that be OK to add to the soil in my raised beds?
