People don’t realize how fast rust starts even with minimal salt exposure…

This is my surface rust on my 22 month old GX after exposure to 4 snow storms where there was salt on the roads. I don’t drive much in winter and also powered washed the frame within 1-2 weeks of each exposure. Kinda surprised how much even after washing it seeps in.

This is the before video. Thanks to Garden State Auto for the quality woolwax undercoating and touch up paint.

Nostalgia going hard at the new Retro Arcade

The new Game on Retro arcade opened up in Riverhead and decided to make the trek out. Did not disappoint. All day play for $15, no coins, my millennial wife and I loved it I think more than our kids

Those of you who know someone that bought a $2m+ home, what did they do to pay for it?

Wondering what field / business I need to start to be able to have a truly nice home here.

What’s the all around most convenient area to live in on Long Island?

For me, it’s Carle Place / East Mineola.

- Mineola LIRR runs express to Jamaica (2 stops to Penn) with 4 lines to choose from
- 25min to Jones Beach, 30min max with traffic
- Basically every big box store
- Whole Foods & Trader Joe’s
- Driving to LIC / north BK is often 40-45min even with some traffic

I will say mineola on Jericho near Chaminade is horrible during rush hour but if you live east of Roslyn rd traffic is ok.

I have a remote job so I’m biased.

What other areas are awesome?

Who else likes BF / Amz Tunnel long games (900-1200 elo)

I’m looking for players who like to play 4v4 or 2v2v2v2 on Black Forest or Amazon Tunnel. Preferably around 900-1200 elo… you know what to do on these maps in the late game (trade, cutting… etc). A couple of us play often. Looking for more players.

With these tragic pool incidents, please consider getting a net over your pool if you have little ones

This is a friends house in California. They installed it when they weren’t taking any chances with multiple kids under 5. You can remove it when you want to use the pool.

No wonder Ohio is so bitter

While Ohio originally they thought they got the better deal by controlling the Maumee river as well as Toledo, by the 1970’s it was clear Michigan ultimately got the deal of a lifetime, giving up Toledo and a toxic algae bloom in exchange for the most fresh water access in the world. Coincidently this is about the time the hate for TTUN really begun. Michigan is predicted to be one of the states best able to deal with extreme climate change. Mich won the war forever.

Timber notched for siding?

The original builders of the Roslyn Grist Mill (b. 1715) in Roslyn, NY, notched the timber for the siding. It’s currently being restored and saw a wall mid-restoration. Interesting!

[NYC Metro] Why is the Hudson Valley acceptable to this sub but Jersey and Long Island are not?

Non-redditors choose Long Island and Jersey by overwhelming numbers when migrating out of the city, but apparently those choices are not acceptable to this sub and only the Hudson valley is acceptable.

Despite being the farthest from the 3 major NYC airports and having the least food options the Hudson Valley is routinely recommended here, even for people where they can afford all 3 suburbs in the tri state. What gives?

Seen in Toledo.

The real question is… has anyone ever seen a MI plate with a OSU sticker?

Did anyone use the MicroCenter accidental damage warranty?

I’m considering buying my LG OLED at microcenter since they are one of the only retailers who offers a 3 year warranty/insurance which includes accidental damage.

Did any of you use it? How was it?

Before I get down voted by the uninformed… yes their warranty explicitly states they “Covers screen replacement on TVs if it's damaged in a drop or fall from handling, mounting, moving, or other normal usage starting on the date of purchase”

This start of summer reminds me of 2019, are we back??

Basically since 2020 something felt off, especially noticeable in the summer months. Bars and hang out spots mostly empty, people minding their own business…

When you went out, the energy was muted. There was an edge, and emptiness.

Yeah, emotionally and culturally, those who lived through 2020-2021 will never be the same.

But it finally feels like a pre-Covid summer. I went to a concert in central back the other night, it felt like a 2019 concert. The energy… crowds… happiness.

Maybe with all the people out and about for World Cup and Knicks celebrations. Are we back?? Or is this a temporary blob
