Meijer has ground beef for $3.99/lb

I know not everyone here lives near a Meijer or even in the US but at my Meijer it's $3.99/lb with limit of 5 3lb packages. Not sure if they have this sale at every Meijer but maybe this will help someone.

I've never bought Meijer ground beef because it's always so expensive so idk what the quality is like but I'm too broke to be worried about quality lol

How do animals with fur not die from heatstroke when it's hot?

Animals such as squirrels have year round fur but in the summer I don't understand how they don't die from heatstroke when it's 28-36 degrees.

Does 73/27 or 70/30 grass-finished ground beef from local butchers even exist?

Whenever I see a local farmer selling beef they always say their ground beef is 90/10 or in rare cases 85/15. The only beef I've found that was higher fat than 80/20 was at supermarkets. Do I have to supplement fat if I want to eat local ground beef?

Am I at risk of legal trouble if I quit a fast food job I just started?

TL;DR: just started a second job and I feel like I need to quit because it's conflicting so much with my main job but I've only worked two shifts and both of them were training so I'm afraid that because if I quit I will have wasted their time and the money that they have to pay me that they might sue me. Located in Indiana.

I've been working job A for a few months and just got hired in job B. Both are fast food. I worked at job B for almost a year a few years ago.

Unfortunately because both jobs took until today to post next week's schedule I didn't know what availability to give to job B so I gave a bit of a broad availability and now there are four different days with scheduling conflicts.

To make things worse, I have a root canal next week and I asked job B for one day off and they said no so I moved the appointment to another day and then they ended up giving me the day I originally asked for off and now I have a shift starting at the same time the root canal starts.

Also I have a friend who told me he can get me hired at a third restaurant that pays $2/hr more than job B. He is just an employee there so until they actually hire me I'm not going to assume I'm hired but if I quit job B I will likely have a new job soon. I don't actually need job B to survive but I got it so I could save more money.

Also I don't like job B because the managers are always micromanaging everyone. The pay is abysmal here but I accepted the offer anyway because I didn't have any other options. They actually offered me less than what I was making when I worked here last time.

I feel like my only option is to quit job B because of all the conflicts even though it's my fault for not giving a less broad availability. I know job B won't let me change my schedule for this week and I don't want to make job A move around 4/5 of my days I work. I'm just afraid because I've worked two days and those two days I was useless because I was training and they have to pay me anyway I could get sued or something. Is this a thing? Or does at will employment cover me? I'm located in Indiana.

How do I get the right macro and micro nutrients for drained ground beef?

I'm trying to make a ground beef bowl with every nutrient in it so I can just make the same thing every single day because I am very busy and don't want to spend the time and energy on finding several different things to cook.

Anyway I'm planning to use 500g of 80/20 ground beef per serving. I don't like the taste of the fat much so I will be draining it out (but not rinsing) and I don't know how to get the right macro and micro nutrients for this because if I put raw 80/20 ground beef it will have more fat and calories and possibly micronutrients than I will actually be consuming.

Do I need to move first before finding a job / starting trade school?

I'm 22M and currently live in Indiana with my parents. Due to the garbage weather here I want to move somewhere in Arizona or Texas. No need to lecture me about the heat the options are a miserable winter or an oppressive summer and I would much prefer the oppressive summer.

Right now my plan has been to continue working until November, spend 6 months in Latin America (estimated cost of $10-12k), and then start trade school in August 2027 in my city. However I'm so sick of every day being cold from mid October through the end of May and 3/4 of the days being gloomy that I want to move somewhere new for trade school.

However it seems that every trade school wants me to already have residency in the area before I apply. Do I need to move there and then apply? If I'm not accepted it's a waste of time and money. I've been working fast food and I'd have about $10k of savings to work with after the trip to Latin America so I'd have time to find a temporary fast food job there so I can apply to the trade schools in the area as I doubt they'd hire me if I don't already live there.

Is moving to Tucson or San Antonio in hopes of being accepted into a trade school too risky? I really want to move away from where I am now because I feel suicidal in the winter and depressed in the spring and fall but it seems so complicated to find a job without already living there and I'm scared I'll spend 5 months unable to find even a fast food job and then have to move back to Indiana to live with my parents again. Am I missing something?

Is there any catch to 0% credit cards for X months?

For example Wells Fargo has 0% interest for 21 months. I'm thinking about finding a card with 0% interest that will accept me and using it to fund a trip and then paying it off before the 21 months end.

However I'm worried there's a catch to these cards. Is it just them trying to get me to come to their card? Or is there some sneaky way they're profiting off of this?

I want to spend 4-5 months in Latin America this Northern hemisphere winter however I don't know how much I'd be able to afford. It will definitely be $1k per month plus flights and hopefully $1.5k per month but maybe not.

Is anyone still managing to do this in 2026? Where are you doing this?

I want to start an apprenticeship to be an electrician but currently I do not have a car. I get around by ebike because it's much cheaper. I compensate for the extra time it takes to get around by renting close enough to work that it takes 30 minutes or less to commute. I don't go out much except for work and errands so it works for me.

Whenever I see a trades person they always have a car with them to carry all their tools and supplies. It seems like it's owned by the company, but I'm not sure.

Can I expect to need to use a personal vehicle at work to be an electrician?

I currently live in Indiana and I hate it here. My plan is to go into the trades soon, but I want to move somewhere else if possible. I would be starting as an apprentice with no experience.

I'm looking for a place without cold winters (I know San Antonio is hot and humid in the summer, which doesn't bother me), within a 6 hour drive to Mexico, a lot of Spanish speakers (my city is 5% so I almost never get to speak it), a good enough job market, and not outrageously expensive. It seems like San Antonio meets all of these criteria but if not I'd appreciate it if you let me know.

Is San Antonio a good place to work in the trades, specifically as an apprentice?

Due to having poor oral hygiene habits for a long time (now I have amazing oral hygiene habits) and due to having an extremely bad sugar addiction since 2023 I have terrible oral health. I was diagnosed with gum disease in 2024 and today I've gotten my second tooth infection in 6 months (and in my entire life).

I am quite desperate to stop eating sugar and stop further damage to my mouth. I know it's too late to reverse a lot of the damage, but it's extremely worrying how bad my dental health has gotten and I don't want to cause any more damage.

I know at a minimum I need to stop eating sugar and eat only whole foods but I'm afraid that won't be enough. Carbs are still damaging to the teeth as far as I can tell even if they're from whole foods so it feels to me that carnivore is my only hope since fat and protein doesn't destroy teeth in the same way that carbs do.

I know carnivore will be very hard during the first month or so so I'm wondering if anyone has been able to improve similar dental issues or at least stop them from getting worse with carnivore because the more hope I have the better for when I'm craving sugar or when I have to eat fat (I have a bad animal fat aversion).

Edit: it's down to 101.6f and earlier it was 101.3 and 100.6 so I don't know what to believe because the 103.7 was not there for like 10-15 minutes (or less because that's the amount of time I didn't take my temperature for after seeing it at 103.7) so maybe being in my covers just raised it. Nevertheless it's very concerning.

Next to one of the teeth it's like there's a bubble in my gum. The pain in one tooth started about 2.5 weeks ago and in the other two (including the one with the bubble) it started the last couple days and the bubble just appeared in the last few hours.

I have an appointment with my dentist at 9am and it's currently 3:38am. ChatGPT said to go to the ER immediately and that it's too urgent to wait until 9am.

Unfortunately I live in the US and make $32k a year. I cannot afford to go to the ER because it's too expensive. My mom says that it will be fine if I wait until 9am despite the obvious signs of a rapidly spreading infection.

Should I go to the ER and just put it on a credit card and go into debt? Or should I just risk it and wait until 9am to go to the dentist so I don't have to spend months paying back the debt?

I'm 22M and live with my parents in the Midwest. I have no problem living with them and enjoy it. The reason I am depressed is because I hate where we live. I want to live somewhere that isn't so flat because hiking is so boring here, where there are more Spanish speakers because I like speaking it (my second language), and where winter isn't so bad.

The biggest reason I am so depressed here is because of the winter. I get extreme seasonal depression. It's miserably cold so I don't go outside much because I feel so uncomfortable even if I'm bundled up. When I don't go outside I feel cooped up which makes me sad but it's too cold to enjoy going outside. There's also the fact that on the few days that it's not gloomy and the sun actually comes out the sun doesn't feel good because it's too weak. I also don't like having to resort to lamps and supplements to get enough vitamin D.

Anyway the biggest reason I hate living here is the winter. I'm already feeling anxious because in 6 months it will be cold again and I don't want to go through another winter. I feel like I might go insane but hopefully the five months of nice weather will be enough to get me to May 2027. It isn't even summer yet and I feel this way. However if I move somewhere hotter I won't have the opportunity to save as much and that just feels like a wasted opportunity.

I am starting trade school in August and will make enough money to get by but not enough to save much unless I live with my parents. If I move away I'll have to find a city where I can go to trade school and work for a company in said trade for a livable wage and idk how hard that is to find.

What do you suggest I do?

My plan is to go to Buenos Aires and then to go Peru to see Lima and Machu Picchu. One-way flights from my city to Buenos Aires are about $190 more expensive than one-way flights to Montevideo.

I would then spend a couple nights in Montevideo and then take a ferry to Buenos Aires. Now I know this will make it end up costing about the same as just flying to Buenos Aires, but if it's roughly the same cost I might as well add Uruguay to the list of countries I've visited even though it won't be a very long visit it still counts.

This is a bit hacky though so I'm wondering if there's any way this could backfire on me that I'm not thinking of.

I want to go from approximately mid October to the end of March. So far I already know I want to go to Lima from the beginning of December to mid February. I'm looking for two more cities to go to for 1.5 months each; one from mid October to the end of November and one from mid February to the end of March.

Here is what I want in a city:

  • Somewhere most people will speak to me in Spanish so no tourist towns like Puerto Vallarta
  • Not the wet season or if it is the wet season somewhere that doesn't rain a lot during the wet season
  • Daytime temperatures of at least 20c (68f). Nighttime temperatures and humidity (or lack thereof) don't matter at all. Would be willing to settle for 15c (59f) daytime temperatures
  • My budget is $1.5k USD per month and must include all expenses besides flights
    • I'm a pretty frugal person I just want to skip the winter for a year and speak Spanish so I won't be living like the typical person who's traveling for one week would
  • Any country besides Brazil, Peru, and Guatemala is fine
  • At least 300k people and type of city doesn't matter (for example beach, mountains, etc)
  • Easy to make friends with locals (or at least find people to hang out with)

If a city meets most of the requirements but not all of them feel free to suggest it. Only one that it must meet is the $1.5k monthly budget but other than that I don't require all of my wishes to be met.
