Hoping to release the 160-nation update Ver 2.0 by August 22nd

I'm aiming to release the 160-nation update by August 22nd. While finishing things up, I have a quick question for you all: regarding player abilities, would you prefer just seeing an overall rating, or do you want individual attribute parameters displayed as well? Let me know your preference!

160 Nations update. Things are coming together nicely!

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for all your feedback yesterday regarding the country expansion. I really want to release this with the best possible quality, so please bear with me just a little longer! I’ve managed to sort out the transfer logic issues to a good degree. Along with the UEFA Nations League, I’m also adding competitions like the ASEAN Cup, Arab Cup, and Baltic Cup. To support all these new nations, I’ve cleaned up the sidebar UI for better navigation and have been squashing minor bugs along the way. Thank you for your patience—stay tuned!

Thinking of expanding to about160 nations, but transfer balance is tricky. What do you think?

Hey everyone! I’m currently considering expanding the game to around 160 playable nations. While setting up the Nations League system, I wanted to include all UEFA teams, which naturally led me to add more countries from other continents as well. However, balancing the simulation has been quite tough—for instance, I'm seeing things like Nepali players suddenly transferring to the French league. Because of these balance issues, I’m on the fence about whether I should release it. Would you like to see a massive world even if it has some wild quirks, or do you prefer a smaller, tightly balanced setup? Let me know your thoughts!

Ver. 1.8 Update!! Clubs and nations can now grow or decline over time

Another update is live! This one focuses on making the world feel less static over long simulations.

Club Sponsor Power can now rise or fall depending on whether the club performs above or below its preseason expectations. Youth Power and Development Power can also change based on the club’s financial efficiency and success at developing players.

Nations can evolve too. Their player-generation range now gradually changes according to FIFA ranking, national-team strength and continental club results. A country that performs well for many years may slowly become a stronger producer of players, while an established football nation can decline.

I wanted these changes to remain gradual. One successful season will not suddenly turn a small club or nation into a powerhouse, but over 50, 100 or 1,000 years, the football map should become much more interesting.

This update also adds editable super cups, more split-season options(Belgian league format), improved domestic-cup scheduling and several fixes for MODs and long-term saves.

The update is available on Steam.

Update Overview

  • Club Sponsor Power now changes based on seasonal performance.
  • Youth Power and Development Power now evolve based on club finances and domestic standing.
  • Each nation’s player generation range (Player Min / Max) now changes based on national-team results and FIFA ranking.
  • Club Profiles now display Youth, Development and Sponsor Power using five-star ratings.
  • Club Profile information has been reorganized into a single row.
  • Added a split-season format where second-stage groups are determined by first-stage standings.
  • Updated the Belgian league format within the limits of the Data Editor.
  • Super cups can now be created in the Data Editor.
  • Super cups support two or four clubs, configurable qualification rules and multiple match formats.
  • Fixed different domestic cups producing identical draws.
  • Added configurable starting weeks and intervals for domestic cups.
  • Added a “single-match final only” option for domestic cups.

Ver. 1.7 Update!! League Phase, split seasons and better transfer target selection!

I made a mistake with the title, so I'm reposting! Sorry!
Another update is now live!

The biggest addition is a new league-phase format inspired by the current Champions League system. You can create one overall table, choose how many matches each club plays, and add a play-off round before the knockout stage.

The editor also now supports split seasons, allowing you to create separate opening and closing stages with play-offs.

Transfers have received several improvements too. Player age now matters more when AI clubs select their targets. When creating a shortlist for a managed club, you can also specify the preferred age range yourself.

Managed clubs will no longer lose players after completing their own transfer business. I have also reduced the frequency of goalkeeper shortlists containing no available candidates.

Other improvements include faster database saving, an in-game guide and more flexible play-off settings.

And if you enjoy the game, I’d be really happy if you shared it on X or in other subreddits too!

The update is available on Steam.

Update Overview
Added a League Phase format to the competition editor.
Added an optional play-off round for qualification from the League Phase to the knockout stage.
League Phase standings now show Q for direct qualification and P for play-off qualification.
Added support for split-season leagues, such as opening and closing stages.
Added separate views for opening-stage, closing-stage and overall standings.
Added a single-match final option for split-league and split-season play-offs.
Managed clubs can now specify an age range when searching for transfer targets.
AI clubs now consider player age more carefully when selecting transfer targets.
Removed signing limits for managed clubs during regular recruitment and Deadline Day.
Players can no longer be taken from a managed club after it has completed its transfer business.
Reduced the frequency of goalkeeper shortlists containing no available candidates.
Managed-club formations are no longer changed automatically at the end of a season.
Adjusted the FIFA Ranking system so international results have a clearer impact.
Added a Game Guide after creating a new world.
The Game Guide can now be opened from the Dashboard at any time.
Added a dedicated Transfer Window Guide.
Changed the week display to the Week 1/92 format.
Reduced the time required to save data to the database.

Ver. 1.6 Update!! Player Creation & Split League Update!

I’ve just released another editor update.

You can now add your own players by setting their name, nationality, starting club, debut year, age, position and abilities. This should make it possible to create fictional prospects, recreate yourself or your friends, or add specific players to a custom world.

The editor also now supports split and regional leagues. You can divide one league into multiple groups, assign clubs to each region, and finish the season with a playoff tournament. This can be used for structures similar to MLS, regional divisions, or completely fictional league systems.

I’d really love to see the MOD scene grow from here. If you create something interesting, please share it on the subreddit or upload it to the Steam Workshop.

And if you enjoy the game, I’d be very grateful if you helped spread the word a little further. I want to see what kinds of strange football worlds everyone creates!

Update Overview

Added custom player creation to the Data Editor.

Added club deletion and split-league settings.

Added split-league standings and playoff brackets.

Improved MOD loading and support for applying competition MODs to existing saves.

Improved compatibility with older save databases.

Fixed national competition qualification and participant issues.

Improved knockout draws and database stability.

The update is available on Steam.

Ver. 1.5 Update!!The Data Editor and Steam Workshop are now available!

The Data Editor update is finally live!

You can now edit nations, leagues, domestic cups, clubs, continental club competitions, and national-team competitions. Tournament formats, qualification systems, schedules, group stages, play-offs, and knockout rounds can also be customized.

You can save a small MOD that changes only one competition or country, or create a complete Game World MOD. CSV import and export are also supported.

The Steam Workshop is now open too. MODs can be published directly from the Data Editor, while subscribed MODs can be enabled, disabled, and reordered before creating a new world.

Most MOD changes are applied when a new database is created or the database is reset.

I’m really curious to see what kind of competitions and football worlds people create. Please upload plenty of MODs to the Workshop!

Update Overview
Added a full Data Editor for nations, leagues, domestic cups, clubs, club competitions, and national-team competitions.
Added CSV import and export support.
Added local MOD management with enable/disable controls and customizable load order.
Added support for both small individual MODs and complete Game World MODs.
Added editable competition formats, qualification systems, schedules, group stages, play-offs, and knockout rounds.
Added FIFA Rankings based on senior national-team results.
Improved the loan and transfer systems.
Added goalscorers and goal times to Match pages.
Improved Dashboard organization and Detailed Data Settings.

The update is available on Steam.

I’ve been working on a new Data Editor for Football Fictional World Simulator.

I’ve been working on a proper Data Editor for Football Fictional World Simulator. It will let you edit nations, leagues, domestic cups, clubs, continental club competitions, world club competitions, national-team tournaments and their qualifiers.

Competition formats can be customized in quite a bit of detail, including entrants, qualification routes, group stages, play-offs, knockout formats, single-leg or home-and-away matches, and starting weeks. Nations, league structures, domestic cups, club finances, formations and tactics can also be adjusted.

The editor supports CSV import and export, but you won’t need to edit CSV files manually. You can create everything inside the game, save it as a MOD, and publish it directly to the Steam Workshop. Other players will then be able to subscribe to the MOD and use it when creating a new game world.

You can make a small MOD that changes only one competition, a larger MOD containing all competitions of one type, or a complete Game World MOD. I want people to be able to combine smaller changes freely, while also giving beginners an easy way to install a complete custom world.

I’m still fixing a few issues with custom competitions and qualification displays, but I’m hoping to release the update tomorrow or the day after.

Ver. 1.35 Update!! You Can Now Manage Multiple Clubs!

Another update is now available!

The biggest change this time is support for managing multiple clubs in the same save.

You can select Manage Team from several club pages, and each managed club will have its own transfer-window decisions and Squad Hierarchy. You can also change each club’s formation and set the first, second and third choices for every position.

Managing several transfer windows may become a little exhausting, though. You have been warned! Haha.

I have also improved the initial world generation:

  • Clubs now begin with both domestic and foreign players
  • Foreign-player distribution reflects transfer affinities and league limits
  • Initial player quality reflects national talent levels, the club’s division, and its youth and development strength
  • Nationality flags have been added to formations, Squad Hierarchy screens and Best XI displays
  • Several issues with country-specific player name generation have been fixed

Multiple-club management, formation changes and interface improvements work with existing saves. The initial squad-generation changes require a new database, while the name-pool fixes mainly affect newly generated players.

You could manage rivals, rebuild clubs in different countries, or help several smaller teams become continental powers at once. I am curious to see how many clubs people can manage before the transfer windows become too much!

The update is available on Steam.

Ver. 1.3 Update!! More freedom in the transfer market

I’ve uploaded a new update, with most of the work focused on transfers for your managed club.

Previously, the game decided much more of the transfer process for you. The number of players placed on the transfer list was fixed, and you had limited control over which positions the club tried to strengthen.

Now, you can choose who to transfer-list and how many players to list. When recruiting, you select the position you need and set how much of the club’s available balance you are willing to spend.

The club then creates a shortlist based on those instructions, and you choose who to sign from that list. You can also decide when to stop recruiting, so you have more control over the number of arrivals and the final squad size.

This update also includes several improvements to Squad Hierarchy editing, qualification markers in league tables, and individual awards for NZL1 from future seasons.

Update Overview

  • Expanded managed-club transfer controls. You can now choose which players to transfer-list and how many.
  • Added position and budget settings when searching for new signings.
  • Transfer candidates are generated according to your selected position and budget.
  • Added control over when to stop recruiting, allowing you to manage the number of signings.
  • Improved the transfer-window flow and restored access to previous-season pages during the process.
  • Improved Squad Hierarchy editing with All Empty, right-click duplication, position validation, clearer player colours and loading feedback.
  • Fixed player duplication and invalid-position issues when using drag and drop.
  • Team pages can once again be opened while the simulation is progressing, showing the state before progression began.
  • Added qualification markers to league tables for promotion, relegation and continental competitions.
  • Adjusted the effect of fitness on match performance.
  • Corrected several initial club and division assignments.
  • NZL1 will now generate MVP, top scorer, top assists, Best XI and other league awards from the next completed season.

I may release one more update later today.

More Freedom in the Transfer Market

I’m currently reworking the managed-club transfer system to give you more control.

Previously, the number of players placed on the transfer list was fixed, and the game largely decided which positions to strengthen. After the update, you’ll be able to choose both the players and the number to list, select the position you want to strengthen, and decide how much of the club’s balance to spend.

The game will then create a shortlist based on your position and budget, and you’ll choose who to sign from those candidates. You’ll also be able to decide when to stop recruiting, giving you control over the number of new signings.

This is still being worked on, but I’m planning to release the update in about 12 hours.

Ver. 1.2 Update!! You can now set your own Squad Hierarchy!

Another update is now available!

The main addition is Squad Hierarchy for managed clubs. The idea was inspired by the depth charts and basic line-up systems in games such as OOTP and Japan’s Power Pro series.

You can drag and drop players to set a first, second and third choice for each position. It is not a fixed line-up: match ratings, positional eligibility, fatigue, rotation and availability still affect who actually plays.

The system lets you influence the team without managing every match. You can prioritise a young prospect, keep a veteran involved, give a new signing an immediate role, or push an underperforming player down the order.

I hope it creates small stories over time. A third-choice youngster may take his chance, while your carefully selected first-choice striker may refuse to score. If you prefer to simply watch the world, Auto mode returns selection to the AI.

Other changes include improved managed-club navigation, Stop After Match, better week controls, expanded text exports, clearer history-retention settings and further Dark Mode improvements.

  • Stop After Match for managed clubs
  • Easier navigation to your managed club
  • Improved week-advance controls
  • Current season and week displayed in the sidebar
  • Cup, continental club and national-team matches in text exports
  • Improved Season History Retention settings
  • Country → League → Team selection when creating a new save
  • More Dark Mode readability improvements
  • Improved retired-player labels and Vietnamese player names

How would you use Squad Hierarchy: prioritise results, develop young players, or keep trusting a favourite player for far too long?

Ver. 1.1 Update!!Football Fictional World Simulator

The first update for Football Fictional World Simulator is now available on Steam!

The biggest addition is support for multiple save databases. When you launch the game, you can now choose between New Game and Continue. New databases can be given their own names, and existing databases can still be loaded as a Legacy Save.

I have also made several improvements based on the feedback I received after release:

  • Improved the male given-name pools for every nation
  • Adjusted name generation so common names appear more often
  • Removed the fixed seed, so each new database generates different players
  • Corrected several clubs that were assigned to the wrong divisions
  • Added and refined Dark Mode
  • Added player age to season-by-season career statistics
  • Added an option to retain detailed data for 30–200 years instead of the fixed 50 years

The name-generation changes apply mainly to newly generated players, so names already stored in an existing database will not be changed. Thank you again to everyone who has already played the game, reported issues, or shared ideas. I cannot promise that every suggestion will be added, but I am reading all of them and will continue improving the game regularly. Please keep sharing the interesting players, clubs and strange football histories from your simulated worlds. Seeing those stories is honestly one of the best parts of releasing this game.

Football Fictional World Simulator is officially out on Steam today!

Thanks to everyone here, Football Fictional World Simulator has officially launched on Steam today!

A few people even noticed that it had been released before I managed to post this, which honestly meant a lot to me.

I have read all the feedback and criticism you’ve shared, and I’m taking it seriously. I probably won’t be able to implement every suggestion, but I’ll keep improving things such as the name pools, adding more countries, and refining the transfer system.

For now, I’m hoping to release an update roughly once a week. Positive feedback would be incredibly encouraging, of course! But criticism is welcome too, so please don’t be afraid to tell me when something feels wrong. More than anything, I’d love to see people post the strange things they discover in their worlds here. An unexpectedly successful club, a player with a ridiculous career, a tiny national team going on a run, or anything else that made you stop and look twice.

When I was in elementary school, I used to create imaginary football worlds like this in paper notebooks. Seeing other people explore and share stories from a world generated by my game is genuinely the dream I had back then. Thank you so much for helping me reach this point. The launch is only the beginning.

Two Ballon d’Ors, three Champions Leagues… and back where it all started at 37

One of my favourite parts of this game is not only seeing who becomes a legend. It is watching where that legend eventually ends up. John Megias began his career at Sabadell in 2107. After three seasons, PSG signed him, and his career became slightly ridiculous:

Two Ballon d’Ors Three Champions League titles Ten Ligue 1 titles Two Serie A titles with Juventus 638 league appearances, 147 goals and 150 assists

After Juventus, he returned to PSG, then spent two seasons with Damac in Saudi Arabia. Finally, at 34, he went back to Sabadell. He is now 37 and still playing for the club where everything began. Last season he made 34 league appearances, so this is not merely a ceremonial return either. I do not know whether he will retire there. The simulation may still give him one final unexpected transfer. That is part of the fun for me. A player can become the best in the world, travel through several completely different football cultures, and eventually decide where the last page of his career will be written. Would you want Megias to finish at Sabadell, or would one final strange move make the story even better? Football Fictional World Simulator follows complete player careers across a world of 99 active football nations.

The game’s Steam page is here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4985140/Football_Fictional_World_Simulator/
