As an American who frequents BC 5ish times a year I am curious how you afford it. How many of you are in debt and still manage to eat out at Earls?

If I were to move to BC with my current job I would take a 50k USD/year cut to my pay. While I live in a HCOL city, I live fairly frugally outside of my fully paid off car. I feel like I am unable to afford a “thriving” lifestyle and am more like settling for it. I see people in downtown Van walking home from work during the week looking like zombies. It’s certainly changed over the past 4-8 years. I am not 100% sure if it’s optics or not but I can’t put my finger on it.

How are you affording to live?

I was talking to my mom last week who worked as an RN/CNA capacity at a small rural hospital for 30 something years and said the hospital used to have an urgent care about 25 years ago built into the ED. Does this still exist anywhere or is it a relic of the past?

Also generally curious how the logistics of this works? Does it alleviate wait times or help in general?

I am American and my (Vietnam citizen) wife is here in the USA on a student visa (Application for GC submitted), we are going to Bellingham this week and I wanted to take her to Peace Arch park. Just to confirm as long as we stay within orange area we will be fine? Her I-20 expires in 2027, but her reentry visa is expired at this time.

This is just me being overly paranoid. I believe I know the answer as I have been to the park many times myself.

I filed by paper in person at the local IRS office in early March (I think around March 4th give or take a day) of this year and still have not received a refund. This has been the status of my refund tracker since late April shortly after I began checking it. It turned to this status a day or two after my wife received her ITIN. Curious if anyone else is still in the same boat. My wife had to apply for an ITIN which was approved in April. The transcript shows no activity for this years filing. I received my state tax refund shortly after getting the ITIN and submitting that to the state. I am due back several thousand dollars.

Shanaz "Sathi" Zakia has been missing since 10/30/2002 from Tukwila Washington in the South Seattle metro area. She was 5 foot 2 inches tall, of Bangladeshi ethnicity and 29 years old at the time she disappeared. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Zakia had lived with her husband of eleven years, a taxi driver, in the 3000 block of south 154th Street in Seattle/Tacoma until October 11, weeks before her disappearance, when she called 911 to report he had sexually assaulted her. Zakia said she was a victim of longstanding abuse, although this was the first time she had reported it. She sought and received a temporary order of protection against her husband on October 17. She was seeking a permanent order, but disappeared two days before her court date.

Zakia's husband is not being called a suspect in her case, but it is worth noting that he gave conflicting accounts of the events leading up to her disappearance. He said he had not seen Zakia since October 12, but a bank teller says they went together to the bank on October 30 and wired $1,500 to Zakia's family in Bangladesh.

Shannaz was last known to be alive on the morning of October 30, 2002 when she last spoke with a friend. She was due for an appointment, but did not show.

About the potential match:
Little is known but four months later a skull and partial human remains were found roughly 25 miles south of the location she was last seen.

The unidentified victim was female, of Asian decent, between the ages of 22-32, and was estimated to be roughly 5 foot tall. All matching characteristics of Sathi. Sathi has not been ruled out in this case that I can find.

Megan was last seen leaving the Liard Hot Springs campsite headed north in a hurry with her abusive ex boyfriend, Zach, at 8:30pm last night (May 31) in a grey GMC Sierra with BC license plate RF7 10D. Megan’s life is in danger with him. He has made sure she has no way of contacting anyone and his phone is out of reach for police. Megan Smith has not been heard or seen in the last 12 hours. I was browsing the Canadian missing people list for a few American individuals suspected of going missing in Canada and came across John Thomas Edwards from Hamilton ON missing profile who looks an awful lot like a guy discovered roughly 1 hour north in Toronto. Both have a left arm scar and fingerprints were somehow unable to be taken from the unidentified deceased. The time between disappearance was just one month. Is there a way to check exclusions in Canada?

10cm height discrepancy, large weight discrepancy but both could be explained with a medical condition. The faces look extremely similar.

6:56am a text message was sent from her phone to her sister stating "Good morning :) I miss you & my baby, love you!"

7:30am she does not show up for her scheduled work shift at MY Chevrolet in the Salinas Auto Mall which is approximately 10 minutes/5 miles from her apartment.

Morning (unconfirmed potentially also at 7:30am): a car was caught on camera passing the Carmel Highlands General Store that matches the description of her vehicle, the store is approximately 26 miles/43 minutes driving time from her home and 14 miles from where her car was ultimately found. This would be approximately 15 of additional time where something could have happened. 45 minutes after 6:34 would put it at 7:17am if she drove straight to Carmel Highlands.

10am-12pm her car is seen by the Google Street View car parked on the side of the road at the "Little Sur View Point" this is in the opposite direction of her workplace which is north west of her apartment, not southwest. The cars parked behind her car in the street view image, have been contacted by Police. None of those people saw anything with her car.

Afternoon: the family used the findmyphone app to locate where her phone was last at which was at the location of the Little Sur View Point. An extensive search was launched in the area and nothing was found.

Details worth noting:
Her drivers seat was slid back, far from where she could have driven it in that position. Her keys were found in the ignition, with some reports saying the car was locked and others saying the car was found unlocked.

Her car was not "slammed" meaning lowered to the ground. Which is something she always did when she got out of the car.

There was an instagram post, the day they found her car and the front splitter on her car appears very dirty compared to when she left in the morning, the splitter appeared clean when she left in the morning although this is a difficult detail to fully understand because the video was still fairly dark out when she left that morning.

The gym she attends is near her workplace (Montage), and would have also been only 11 minutes drive from her apartment. No sign she arrived at the gym that morning. She also tends to leave around 5:30, not 6:30 for the gym.

I am curious how one becomes an extra in a film? I know Vancouver has a lot of filming and I am interested to be an "extra." I don't know much about this although I did a lot of short film projects in high school and college about 10 years ago. I miss doing that and figured this might be a way I can contribute.

Hi PDX reddit, as the title suggests I am looking for some options where I can get Spumoni. It seems so hard to find it in stores these days and it feels like a dying breed. Are there any really good ones in the PDX area?

I want my wife to experience Spumoni while she can't travel at the moment due to the green card application process.
