What would you do different?

First of all, apologies for the state of the additions. I only have access to my phone at the moment.

This is the floorplan for the flat I currently live in. It's the ground floor of a house that has been converted into three flats. I hate the way it is laid out, but I was desperate for somewhere to live at the time.

A little key for you:-

Blue - Windows

Red - storage heaters (affixed to the wall)

Yellow - power sockets

Black - other immovable items in the room.

The item in the lounge is a disused fireplace. I think the others are self explanatory. And I'm not sure where I would put the power sockets.

I know I'm only renting, so I can't actually do anything here, but I've had a lot of time to think.

First I would put in a wall and make the lounge the bedroom. I would remove the fireplace to give more room. I would charge the middle room into a lounge/kitchen area, with the kitchen along the left wall. As it stands now, there are really only two places you can put a bed. The bottom left corner, which would leave dead space in the corner. Or against the right wall, which would mean going around the bed every time you want to go between the kitchen and lounge. And finally putting up a wall in the rear room, and making it a bathroom. Currently it's quite tight with only a shower. This design would allow you to fit a bath.

So would you do it differently if it was your property?

Would you find this acceptable?

I'm terrible with money, so when I first moved to a place of my own, I got a second bank account. All my bills (including rent) go out of my first account, and I get paid into it as well. I know how much my bills come to, so what I do is leave that amount in the account and transfer the rest. It's all automated, so I don't look at it until next payday.

A couple of months ago, payment for something ended, so I adjusted how much I left there. I received an email from the letting agent the other day saying I was two months behind with my rent. I was confused, so I looked into it. Apparently the company whose payments should have stopped, were still going out. As my rent is the last thing to go out, it meant there wasn't enough to pay the rent.

I hadn't looked at the transaction history, as I assumed everything was fine. I've emailed the letting agent back and said that I will pay them a little extra each month until it's paid off. I can't afford to pay large chunks off in one go. I don't want to get kicked out, but I can't think of any other way to pay them back.

So would you find it acceptable?

Fake call from Visa

I received a call the other day, that claimed to be Visa, saying that someone spent £700 from my account on Amazon.

I knew this was a scam for a number of reasons.

1 - It came from a mobile number. Why would they call from a mobile number?

2 - Robotic voice that didn't even try to sound human.

3 - None of my cards are Visa.

4 - I currently don't have £700 for someone to spend on Amazon. So it wouldn't have gone through

5 - I get notifications from my banking app about spending. Even if It failed to go through. So it would have said "You attended to spend...". I didn't get a notification.

They might try and change it up a bit. Different amounts, different card issuers, different places spent. If they haven't already, they might get someone where everything seems plausible. So be careful.

Apparently drivers near me either can't read or are completely stupid.

I work in a small shop, near a school, on a housing estate. For the last two weeks, there has been signs saying that the road will be closed for roadworks, with the dates on. Today they started. Now there are signs saying that the road is closed. At the far end of either side is a sign saying that the road ahead is closed.

Yet several people have still driven down, and upon discovering the road is closed, have mounted the pavement, and driven around the roadworks. Although school is closed for summer, a number of young children come to the shop. They get there via the pavement they are driving on. Next to the shop is a house with large hedges. Kids aren't going to see vehicles driving down, and the drivers aren't going to see anyone coming from the shop.

It's only a matter of time before someone gets hit. The diversion adds two minutes to their journey. So if they had bothered to read the first sign, then they could have easily gone round. They are obviously moving the cones, as my colleague and I have moved them back several times today. So if you add that time to the time they "saved", it equals the same.

Unfortunately we don't have cameras pointing at the road, and all the incidents happened while we were inside. We only knew it happened because we saw them go past the door. They are complete idiots who don't care about anyone but themselves.

How do you deal with burnout?

I've been suffering a lot with burnout recently. It's like I never have a chance to recover. My usual method of just having a day where I chill, play games, and order a takeaway, don't seem to be working. And it's really starting to take the strain now.

I've noticed that things like my executive dysfunction happen more. I had created a routine which worked well, but I just can't seem to do it.

And normally I can get hyper focused at work, but I'm really struggling. It's like I don't have the energy to do it properly.

When I have the kids, I am normally quite relaxed. Especially now while they aren't in school. Recently though it feels like a challenge.

Nothing I do seems to help. It's like I just can't fill the tank enough. It's making me depressed, and it's just getting worse. Any advice you can give will be great. TIA

I'm just wondering what people would want to see in a DLC or sequel?

I write short stories as a hobby, so I'm always coming up with ideas. And this happens with the media I consume as well. So here are some of my ideas.

DLC - Return to Windscale.

Not long after the events of the game, it's realised that something remains. You get sent back in to sort it out before the wall comes down.

DLC - The truth remains.

A new area is added. A village that was emptied and was meant to be turned into an airfield. Although for the most part, it would just be a way to get more supplies, add more upgrades, and items/weapons, there would not only be more information about what they were planning, but information about our character.

Sequel - Atomfall 2

It turns out that when Oberon fell to earth, it had split in two. In a whole new area, set after the explosion in the first one. They thought they knew where they went wrong and tried again. Only things got worse.

Do you lot have any ideas?

Would it bother you if the mother of your son(s) painted their nails?

In another group, on another app, a man posted a rant about how his ex keeps painting their nails and he has to remove it. In the comments people have asked if they wanted it, and all he replies is "No". Nothing further, no "they come to me crying" or "soon as they get to mine, they ask me to get it off". To me, it sounds like karma farming.

The thing is, there were lots of men in the comments saying that it's wrong for boys to have their nails painted. It has never bothered me, and my son occasionally asks his mum or sister to paint his. It's just a bit of nail polish. It's not going to hurt him.

So it made me wonder how dad's away from that group felt.

Question about the USS Prometheus and the EMH.

In the Voyager episode "Message in a bottle", it's established that the EMH can go anywhere in the ship. He even just transfers himself from one part to another. So my question is can he still do that when the ship separates? And if so, what is the maximum distance? I mean sure, I could understand if one section had warped out of the area, but what's the limit? Could they be opposite sides of a solar system, or would it just be like the distance between Earth and the Moon?

What is something you did different the second time around? (Other than choosing a different ending)

I've just finished my first run through, and plan to start again soon to go with a different ending. Obviously your first time round, you are going to make mistakes. Kill the wrong NPC, spend ages trying to do something only to find you could have done it an easier way etc.

For example, I saw someone reported the vicar, so didn't get the key. I've since been told that you can find his body somewhere, but I don't know.

So did you or plan to do different the 2nd/3rd/4th time round?

Restricted area in the village. Is it possible to get in?

I've almost completed my first run through, and I'm just checking I haven't missed anything before I head to Oberon. In Wyndham, there is an area that protocol won't let you in. Is there a way to get in, or have I left it too late? Should I have gone at an earlier part of the game. Don't worry about spoilers, as I watched someone playing it, which encouraged me to get the game. They didn't try to go here though, so I'm not sure.

What are the regulations (if any) about broken pipes?

I'm a tenant and this is the first time I've had this issue. I'd been away for a couple of days, and discovered a leak coming from under the sink. My kitchen floor had a nice layer of water on it, and it soaked into the carpet of the adjoining room (about a metre and a half). I managed to shut the water off, and chuck some towels down to start soaking it up. And then called my landlord, who came as soon as possible.

Once he assessed the situation, he went to try and call the plumber he normally deals with, but got no answer. So he sent him a message. It's been nearly 5 hours and I haven't heard anything yet. I've had to come to a friend's house in the meantime, but I'm not sure if it is something that has to be sorted in a set time. Or do I just have to wait? I'm in Wales if that makes any difference.

Which of these sleeping patterns would you choose?

You have four options (or you could choose none of them). Notes will be at the end.

Option 1:

You sleep for 1, wake up fully refreshed, and will be awake for the next 23 hours.

Option 2:

You sleep for 1 day, wake rested, and are awake for the next 6 days.

Option 3:

You sleep for 1 week, wake refreshed, and stay awake for the next 3 weeks.

Option 4:

You sleep for 30 days, wake up fully refreshed and rested, and don't sleep for the rest of the year.

Notes:

Once you are asleep, no one can wake you. Not even with drugs.

If you choose options 2, 3, or 4, you are given a pod to sleep in, which will maintain your body while you sleep. You can still be harmed or die, but you wouldn't have to get up to pee or change a tampon etc. If you have any medical conditions, it can monitor these as well, and inform the relevant people if there is a problem. It can also be linked to smoke alarms or security systems too.

Legally you cannot be fired or turned down for a job. So if you pick option 4, your job will still be there when you wake up.

Once you pick a start time/date, it cannot be changed. So if you picked option 2, and said 2am every Sunday, it doesn't matter if you are in the pod or driving down the highway, you will fall asleep.

Once you are awake, you will not be able to sleep until the next allotted time. You can be put under for things like surgery, but once the drugs ware off, you will feel just as awake as before.

What are the chances of legal action being taken if you do something in one country (where it is legal) but there is still evidence of it when you enter another country (where it's illegal)?

I saw a video earlier of a 19yo American who had travelled to Europe, and had been drinking alcohol while there, then the disappointment that they couldn't when they returned back.

With different countries having different laws, there must be cases of people doing something legal in country A and return to county B where it's illegal, and there is evidence of it.

I believe the legal drinking age is 18/19 in Canada. So say a 19yo was in Canada, purchased some alcohol, traveled to the US drunk (and still had some alcohol), would anything happen?

Or say something like sex? Obvious evidence of that would be pregnancy. So say an 18yo and 17yo have travelled to a country where the legal age of consent is 16, and they have sex. In the moment, they have not committed any crime. But say the female in this couple falls pregnant. They return to their home country, where the legal age of consent is 18, and it's blatantly obvious that the male is the father. Would the 18yo still be arrested for having sex with a minor, even though they haven't had sex since their return?

Is it me, or does Sam get more blame for this than Dean?

This also has spoilers if you haven't seen season 4. So look away now if you haven't seen it.

I'm doing a rewatch, and I'm part way through season 5 at the moment. I've noticed that Sam gets a lot of blame for killing Lilith, and breaking the final seal. Yeah, I get that. Despite not being told she was the final seal, it is his fault. Yet it is mentioned on a number of occasions that Dean broke the first one. Yet he hardly gets any blame. I get that he was essentially pushed into it, but wasn't Ruby pushing Sam into it as well?

With the pay increase, are Daily employees getting it as well?

I've seen things about the pay increase recently, but it doesn't specify if it's for all or just those in the big stores. Although it's not much, any increase is better than not.

The other day, I saw a clip where Jack goes to the Asgard homeworld after he stuck his head in the Ancient repository. They clearly had a Milky Way gate (or a variant of it). Other than travelling to Earth, I can't remember any other mentions of the Asgard using one.

So was that the only one they had in their galaxy? Possibly only used to keep in contact with their Milky Way allies. Or is there a gate network in the Ida galaxy? I had the theory that maybe the seed ships passed through, and that's how the two races originally met.

So if they do have a gate network, were they upgraded to something similar to the Pegasus gate, and they only kept the one Milky Way gate because the network was locked out like the Pegasus network? Keeping a Milky Way gate would allow them to get around the lockout.
