Into the Crypt - 71 days until launch. 5 years in the making! (solo / co-op deckbuilder)

Hey everyone, this is Into the Crypt, a first-person roguelike deckbuilder that has you crawling your way through a procedural crypt/dungeon while crafting your deck, playing cards on doors and other objects in the environment.

I'm a solo dev working full-time on the game for several years, with the help of many talented graphic artists, animators, and my music composer to help bring my vision to life. It's my most ambitious indie game yet, and I hope you check it out on Steam (new trailer just dropped recently as well!). The game will launch in just over 2 months and I wanted to share some new screenshots of enemies/environments and mechanics for the game.

I took a lot of my inspiration from Slay the Spire, with enough twists and turns hopefully in gameplay and mechanics to get people excited for the game.

There is an insane amount of content you can expect:
-full co-op play,
- 400+ class-based unique cards with multiple rarities
- a massive roster of enemies (100+)
- huge amount of passive and active artifacts, combat escape mechanics, diverse events and other interactions
- shopkeeper tipping/dueling
- a robust save system, leaderboards, and achievements

Hello r/pcgaming

For all those that want to experience deckbuilding in first-person, with co-op, and crawl your way out of a behemoth of a 'dungeon-crawler' crypt experience, here's the first look at my game dropping this October 29th, version 1.0

Quick summary of what to expect:
- Choose from one of three unique classes in either solo or co-op (with a friend on Steam), and dive into a crypt full of perils (enemies, encounters, a shopkeeper that will fight you, to name a few).
- Craft your deck with cards, artifacts, and event special loot.
- Steam leaderboards for solo/co-op and achievements
- Highly variable gameplay with unique mechanics, tons of passives/artifacts and a procedurally woven crypt so every run feels different.

If you enjoy the trailer, a wishlist would go a long way! Thank you.

Tip the shopkeeper - new vast system added in my roguelike deckbuilder - Into the Crypt

Hey everyone,

Into the Crypt is a first-person '3D' dungeon crawling deckbuilder, taken inspiration from Slay the Spire and other deckbuilder elements but carving its own path in the genre.

I added a shopkeeper tipping mechanic which if used will cause Murik to visit you unexpectedly during combat and offer his support in one of many ways.

The tipping functionality adapts to how often, how much, and how well you tip, causing the shopkeeper to behave accordingly throughout your run.

The shopkeeper will sense what sort of help you will require during combat, offering various kinds of support including exlcusive cards, status buffs, potions and more.

Other unique interesting things the game offers:

- play cards on doors, chests, enemies,

- move through the crypt physically

- unique cards, mechanics, and classes

The game is continuously evolving for a better deckbuilding experience. There's hundreds of artifacts, items, potions, and several classes to experience in the early access release coming soon.

You can grab the demo now on Steam:

Into the Crypt - first-person Slay the Spire deckbuilder has a new XP progression system

Hi! I wanted to share a new XP system that I'm working on in my first-person 3D deckbuilder.
You can now gain XP in real time during your runs, that contributes to your 'Crypt Mastery' and grants access to unlocked content in future runs. The game is 100% roguelike, the content you unlock is meant to add a sense of progression and additional flavor to future runs.

It plays much like Slay the Spire at its core, with a ton of unique enemies, environment objects to interact with (doors, breakable treasures, chests), with new exciting features being developed regularly.

Check the demo on Steam if you enjoyed this read and drop a wishlist!

Thoughts on unlockable content in a roguelike deckbuilder ?

Hi everyone.

I am building a rather massive 100% roguelike deckbuilder (probably a close to Slay the Spire in terms of sheer content, mechanics, as one can find) and I genuinely want to get opinions on how you would treat unlockables in a game like this.

I mentioned that its 100% roguelike so I do not want to include unlockables that make the player stronger the more they play (players shouldnt get a boost in their starting deck, health, etc at the start of a run).

My initial idea was to gate certain items, cards, and other things a player finds during a run behind an unlockable system but is there a better strategy/system that others can chime in on?

I do want to provide some sort of unlocking system since its a dopamine hit and gives the sense of added progression. I want to reiterate that the game truly has a lot of content in terms of items, cards, and so on, so its not like the player will feel like they have to grind to get a diverse amount of choices out of the gate before they get to unlock more.

I'm divided on this and I want to know what you'd find to work well with this. Thanks!

3D first-person deckbuilder - Into the Crypt new enemy showcase

Hi everyone, the video showcases just one of over 100+ enemies that will be available in the final version of the game.

The game is fully first-person perspective, with a '3D' feel. Besides the traditional deckbuilding you can also expect to interact with the environment: playing cards on doors, chests, and treasures that you may find lying around the Crypt.

`Into the Crypt 3D` deckbuilder - artifact + environment interaction + companion + cards updates

Greetings, I wanted to showcase a lot of the new features coming through in my upcoming first-person 100% roguelike deckbuilder called Into the Crypt.

Unlike traditional/current deckbuilders out there, the focus has been to provide the player with an abundant amount of choice, run-modifying artifacts, fresh and elaborate enemies and a vast number of deckbuilding strategies so that every run plays different.

In terms of card play, beyond the usual:
- playing cards on enemies
- playing cards on locked doors to move ahead through the Crypt
- playing cards on locked chests to gain artifacts

You can also interact with treasures you find in the Crypt by playing cards to damage them.
You'll have to choose between spending Energy to play cards on enemies or attacking treasures, depending on how combat is playing out for you.

Artifacts are scattered throughout you run. here's some newly-added ones which you can actually interact with.

The following are clickable artifacts. Some have charges and once depleted are removed from the run.
