I ordered in a complete Rival e1 groupset, but then my plans for a UDH frame changed. What is the best non UDH AXS RD to pair it with?

I had made plans to get a UDH Crux 3 frame to build up with XPLR, but it fell through. I am pivoting to ordering a frame, but it most likely will not be here until after the summer season.

For now I might as well take the mechanical GRX off of one of my gravel bikes, and upgrade it to the E1 shifters paired with a non UDH RD.

I wouldn't mind trying out a mullet setup. What would be the best bang for the buck Eagle RD to put onto a non UDH frame?

Or should I just go with d2 Rival/Force. I have a lot of elevation near me so range is appreciated.

Are there any brands that can deliver a bike on a reliable timeline?

I would like to get a bike for the summer season, but I am nervous to order because I am going out of town for a while towards the end of August.

Are there any brands that can reliably deliver a bike within a few weeks?

Is it worth buying the Crux 3 DSW if the price is right?

I have the opportunity to buy one of the really nice frame only colorway Crux DSW with Di2 for a bargain price. I would move the Di2 to another bike, and install Rival E1 on the Crux.

I am waffling if I want another aluminum bike to compliment my Diverge e5, or if I want to go carbon.

It is pretty hard to find objective reviews, especially one comparing the aluminum to the carbon model.

Anyone have experience with the Crux DSW.

Is it safe to use the rack mount points on a carbon 2020 slr 5?

Just picked this bike up, and I want to run a rack. What are people's experiences with using one?

Has anyone tried the Owala All Day crossbody bag?

I was looking around the Owala website to try to find better pictures of a water bottle color, when I came across this.

This seems like the answer to my wish list for a bag, albeit from a very unlikely source.. I like crossbody bags, but I am also pretty obsessed with being hydrated. There are very few crossbones that have the space for a water bottle, until they become massive.

I also really am intrigued by the strap system, and how it self adjusts along that fabric loop.

Anyone tried this bag?

Considering switching from Kickr bike to Kickr Roller to save space.

I love my Kickr bike, but I live in a tiny house, and it takes up way too much room. During the winter it is justified, as I am on it a few times per week, but during the summer it is just sitting there

I don't need the most super accurate training data, just need basic Rouvy compatibility. I am wondering if it would be a huge downgrade for a casual indoor cyclist?

Bluetooth mod. 🎶

Now that summer is here I have been taking the speaker out on casual rides with friends for a little there music.

Haven't really found a good solution to carry it. In the back pocket of the Jersey it is pointed towards the person behind.

I found a 3d print file that perfectly fits my speaker, and had my sister make me one out of TPU.

PS I am a very responsible Bluetooth speaker operator, and will be 100% sure to play respectful music, at respectful volume for whatever the situation is.

This is mostly for riding in desolate areas where we are not subjecting anyone to our musical tastes.

Planning bag setup strategy for even weight distribution.

I have a long tour on the horizon with a LOT of climbing. In the past I have gone the loaded up pannier route, and I am still partial to the rear rack, and pannier setup. However I have paid the price for this in the past with some climbs in France almost making the bike do a wheelie up the hills.

So for this trip my plan so far is

Rear of bike

Ortleib quick rack with either 1 pannier backpack or 2 small panniers.

Small duffel bag strapped to top of rack with flip flops, and outer rain layer. This will also be expandable for extra water/food as needed. If I go with the 2 panniers this bag will also allow me to take them off and carry them up to the accommodations.

Inside of the rear bags will be a second cycling kit, and 2 changes of light weight street clothes.

Center of bike

1l top tube bag with nutrition tools, and battery bank.

2l frame bag with 360 camera, and all the cords need for the trip, plus spares for the bike.

Abus Bordo lite loch bolted to bottom boss.

These are all mostly in stone, still playing around with the rear a bit. My main conundrum is front of the bike. Should I go

A: 2 relatively small fork bags 2-3l each

B: 1 Relatively large bar bag.

I intend to keep either option as empty as possible, and only use them for overflow, and to balance out the bike on big climbing days. I really detest having a lot of weight swinging around on the front, as I hate the sensation of slow steering, and it makes m feel out of control on descents.

My plan is to do this trip as minimal weight as possible as there will be lots of clims, and my SO will be on an ebike leaving me in the dust. We all know how that goes though, and you tend to acquire crap along the way.

I am worried that adding all these bags will make the bike much heavier even when it is unloaded.

Has anyone done business with Meinier bikes?

This frame seems to check all of my boxes, but it is hard to find any info on the company. Really digging some of the colors.

Just scored a good deal on Rival E1 xplr! Now I just need a frame with UDH. Recordation for all road/gravel bike?

Ended up winning an auction for Rival E1, complete group with my preferred size (170mm) cranks for $1100 shipped. It was a bit of a rash decision since my current bike doesn't have UDH, and none of my wheels have SRAM hubs.

Debating what to do. I think I am leaning towards selling off my current fleet, and building up a new gravel bike. What I am looking for is something with a relatively high stack, racy geometry and 45mm+ of tire clearance. Under $2000 is the budget for frame, bars and seatpost.

Nice to haves would be down tube storage, and bike packing mounts.

So far I am thinking Tavelo.Grow, or Light Carbon LCR018d.

Any other bikes I should be considering?

Why does adding pockets to bibs increase the price so exponentially?

I recently picked up my first pair of cargo bibs, and honestly there is no going back for me. Having the option to put my phone on my legs, and even to ride in something besides a jersey is a total game changer for me.

I can now totally empathize with women who have suffered with pocketless dresses lol.

I have a whole closet rack of regular bibs that will be relegated to short rides or trainer duty.

I want to get a good 4-5 pair cargo bib rotation going so that I always have a clean pair between laundry days. However shopping around the price of the cargo bibs is super high. Even if I want to start out with budget brands, and slowly add in more expensive pieces the pockets usually add 30% to the price.

Are 2 pieces of fabric sewn onto bibs really adding that much to the production costs that it is at all justified to ask for such higher prices?

Considering a suspension seat post. Have people had good luck with them?

Been getting out for some longer rides lately, in training for a long tour at the end of summer. Despite nice bibs, my ideal saddle, and a well fitting bike. The taint has been getting beat up after 3+ hours, and I imagine it will compound when I am doing day, after day long rides.

I am considering adding a Redshift, or Zoom precision seat post. They both seem like they are less extreme than something like a Thudbuster, but I am hoping they will take the edge off.

Have people added suspension? I f so how did it go? Worth the extra weight/expense?

This has to be one of the nicest homes I have ever seen for sale in Hawaii.

When a residence transcends architecture, it becomes a work of art. Set across 1.81 acres in the misted beauty of Nuuanu, LIHIWAI is one of Hawaii’s most iconic historic estates, a rare convergence of land, design, and legacy in a truly cinematic setting. Originally built between 1927 and 1929 for Territorial Governor George R. Carter and designed by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, the home has been completely restored and is offered following a meticulous renovation by Welch & Weeks, a museum-quality restoration for modern living. Gracious volumes, natural light, and a refined material palette, including ohia hardwood, old-growth redwood, plaster, bronze windows, and limestone, create spaces that feel both expansive yet intimate. The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom main residence is complemented by two guest homes. The grounds unfold as a private sanctuary with a natural auwai, flowing stream, dramatic waterfall, and heated saltwater pool and spa. Set within Nuuanu Valley, this is a composition of historic pedigree, quiet luxury, and natural beauty. A legacy estate, now coming to market.

New Hammerhead 3 won’t route. Stuck on preparing route.

Any ideas on what is going on here?

I was super excited about the ability to place a dot with Google Maps, but the device will not calculate a route. I have also tried manually placing a dot. Same thing.

I googled the issue, and saw some old threads recommending deleting, and reinstalling the maps. That did not work.

It just updated to the latest software as I was setting up the device.

Beware of Nomad Velo. Over 1 month, and not even close to shipping. Don't buy from them

Just wanted to warn people not to order from Nomad Velo.

Their business model is worse than most of these drop shipping brands, in that the do not have stock of the items they list for sale. They take your money, then (eventually) produce your item, and only then will it begin its trip from overseas.

It has been over 1 month since I ordered, and they are spamming me with AI responses.

I am proceeding with a chargeback, and will make sure to inform as many people as possible to avoid doing business with them.

Nothing more expensive than a free bike. Ozark trail G1 build.

I was at my bike shop 2 months ago when a guy came in asking to donate a bike. He dropped off a beat down OT G1, that had seen much better days.

I thought about the Tiagra 10spd hydraulic group I had sitting in a box, and asked if they minded if I took it, promising to give it a better life.

Having done zero research on the G1, but being intrigued by the bike, and actually pretty impressed with the perfect shade of green ii was now sat there with a 30 something lb bike, and a groupset.

I soon discovered that absolutely nothing from my standard Shimano set was compatible with the bike. This launched a 2 month saga of me experimenting, ordering the wrong parts, learning something new, and ordering some more parts.

Ended up changing.

Shifters

Cassette

Crank

Bottom bracket to fit axel

Wheels to fit standard cassette

Adapted brakes to 180mm to fit flat calipers

New headset

All new hoses and cable housing to run hydraulic

That was the bare minimum I then upgraded

Saddle

Seat post

650b Gravel Kings

Better rotors

Ortleib quick rack

New tape etc.

Toseek carbon fork

My GF works on a college campus, so this will be the ultimate sleeper bike. Lots of students ride this but this is probably the only one upgraded up to the standard of a nice entry level bike shop bike.

Still need to cut the steerer down 1cm, dial in the stem, and get narrower 38cm bars for her, but she is really happy how it came out.

After all was said and done, with all the tools I bought, and mistakes I made in parts that can't get returned, and money paid back to the shop for final tune up and hydraulic brake setup I am into the "free" bike more than a equivalent marketplace used bike.

However I learned so much about bike maintenance in this process I will be able to fix most of the issues that pop up on our bikes going forward which is pretty invaluable to me.

Plus the GF really likes it which was the ultimate goal in the end. 💪

Super inconsistent charging, now verified charger with a display.

I have always been getting really inconsistent charging on my phone since new, I even feel like my 9pro XL had similar issues. Only now have a way to see what is happening. I recently bought a nice reputable charger with a screen. It has all the latest standards like PPS etc. I am using OEM cables from reputable brands. This charger is rock solid consistent with my Samsung Fold, and my company iPhone. It only ever tapers off with those devices towards the end of the charging cycle.

I have always suspected something is up because I will drop the Pixel on the charger, come back much later and the phone is only at 65 percent. Thank god the phone mostly lasts me all day because recharging it is not really possible in a timely manner.

With the Pixel 10 there are times when I am getting 37w, when the phone is 45 percent charged. Other times like right at this moment the phone is critically low, and it is sitting there at only 8w. I do have adaptive charging enabled, but it is the middle of the afternoon, and the phone indicates Fast Charging.

I have noticed there are times when powering it off will speed things up, if the screen is on it tends to always be slow, but right now The phone is powered off, and it is still only seeing 8w. This sucks because I want to be able to quickly top up like a regular phone before heading out for the evening, but at this rate it will probably be a half hour+ until I hit 50 percent.

It is summer time, but the room I am in is only 73 degrees at this moment, so it is not a heat issue.

The most frustrating thing is how random it is. Last night I dropped it on there, and it blasted up to 37w, which had the phone mostly full in 20 minutes.

Is there anything I can do to make it more reliable?
