The "copy forward" button was a mistake

I swear some of you guys are just copying the entire epic chart into your progress notes to make it look like you did something

Took over a 18-cap service today. One patient had a 12 page progress note. TWELVE. it had his entire cbc trend since 2021 and a physical exam from when he got his appendix out in high school. I know admin loves this because it looks "comprehensive" for billing, but its literally unreadable for the next doc who inherits the patient.

I ended up just dumping the worst offenders into around notes just to extract what the actual a&p was before my head exploded. took me almost 2 hours just to decipher why half these people are even still admitted

Can we please go back to writing 4 sentence assessments? Im begging you all

just found this anti-hair loss shampoo and the science behind it is interesting

so i've been going down a rabbit hole looking at hair loss research lately. spent way too much time reading studies about what actually works and what's just marketing. honestly it's kind of depressing how many ingredients are just thrown into products without any real evidence.

there's actually been some decent research on specific ingredients though. caffeine has some evidence for reducing shedding and stimulating growth . adenosine is another one that's been tested . but apparently most ingredients in anti-hair loss shampoos haven't actually been tested at all . like 20 out of 36 commonly used active ingredients have zero clinical trials behind them . that's insane.

a friend recommended this hair loss shampoo and conditioner set to me a while ago and i've been using it for a few months. actually been seeing some results which is surprising. less shedding, hair feels thicker.

now i'm trying to figure out what's in it that's actually working. like is it one of the ingredients with clinical data or something new. there's a study on a shampoo with DMG-Na and caffeine that showed significant improvement in hair density and anagen/telogen ratio after 24 weeks . also some interesting stuff on Wnt/β-catenin pathway activation in hair follicle cells .

anyway. just curious if anyone else has looked into the science behind these products. what ingredients do you actually trust based on research? i feel like there's so much hype and marketing around hair loss stuff that it's hard to know what's legit.

The 5 stages of grief, inherited admission note edition

Denial: "There's no way this H&P is 14 pages long. it's literally just uncomplicated cellulitis"

Anger: "Why did they copy-forward a normal left knee xray from 2014?!"

Bargaining: "if I scroll really fast maybe the actual plan will just magically appear at the top"

depression: staring at the epic dot-phrase soup until my retinas physically detach

Acceptance: tossing the whole ungodly text wall into around notes to filter out the noise so I can finally go eat my stolen graham crackers in the charting room

Im fully convinced hospital admin weighs our notes by the pound now. pls someone tell me the copy paste rot stops when you become an attending.

writing great copy but nobody's reading it

so i've been doing copywriting for a few years now. not a pro but i know what i'm doing. good headlines, clear value props, strong CTAs. but lately i've been working on my own project and the copy just doesn't matter.

like i spent hours on this landing page. tested different versions. got feedback from friends. it's solid.and nobody's converting. not because the copy is bad but because nobody's seeing it.

i realized that all the copy in the world doesn't matter if you have zero traffic. and my social media presence is basically non existent. like 200 followers on twitter. dead engagement.

so now i'm in this weird spot where i know my copy works but i can't get anyone to read it. been looking at ways to get some initial attention.

anyone else dealing with this? how do you get eyes on your copy when you're starting from nothing?

catering recommendations for small wedding in australia?

hi everyone, im planning a small wedding in sydney for about 40 guests next year on a tight overall budget under 10k. we want something simple but good quality food, probably a mix of canapes and a buffet style dinner. ive been looking at drop off catering options and a few local companies to keep costs down without going too basic. what should i pay attention to when picking a caterer, like hidden fees, food quality for the price, setup help or dietary options? any experiences with similar small weddings would help a lot.

one company that came up is vanilla blue but im still exploring others.

Trying to pair a felt cowboy hat with a heavy canvas coat

I’m planning to get my first felt hat for this fall, but almost everything I wear once it gets cool is pretty bulky. I have this heavy canvas coat from Mainstreet Clothing that has wide shoulders and a stiff collar.

My worry is getting a hat that either looks tiny next to a heavy jacket or buying a huge brim that looks ridiculous for normal, daily wear.

For guys wearing cowboy hats with work coats or heavy outerwear, what brim and crown combo actually works best so you don't look top-heavy?

Shopping around for commercial vehicle coverage, looking for feedback

I am currently looking into options for our commercial auto coverage as our rate went up significantly at the last renewal.

A colleague recommended I get a quote from Grey Cardinal insurance since they handled his fleet coverage and managed to get him a much better structure.

Has anyone here worked with them before for commercial auto policies? Curious to know how responsive they are with customer service and how smooth the process is when you need policy adjustments.

finally booked a bowhunt for moose in the yukon

been dreaming about this for years and finally did it. booked a moose hunt next fall. I'll be taking my compound bow. 1-on-1 guide. 7 days. boat-based camp accessed by float plane.

I know rifle hunts are more common up there but they apparently get a fair number of bowhunters too. I talked to them about shot distances and they said most opportunities happen within 40-50 yards which is right in my comfort zone.

the guide I'll be with has worked that area for like 7 seasons which is huge for me. having someone who knows moose behavior and calling techniques that well is going to be a game changer . also their concession has 253 moose per 1000 km which is apparently one of the highest densities in the yukon. plus they hold the pope and young 1 world record for alaska-yukon moose which is pretty cool. honestly I'm nervous about the physical part. 3-5 miles a day over uneven terrain and helping quarter a 1000lb animal sounds brutal. but I've got a year to get ready.

anyone here bowhunted moose in the yukon? what was your experience like? any gear you wish you'd brought?

The adobe tax is finally breaking my spirit

Deploying acrobat in our mac environment is literal hell. I spend half my week troubleshooting creative cloud login loops or dealing with finance users who think they absolutely need a massive enterprise license just to combine two damn invoices

Management finally agreed to slash the software budget. Ended up dropping Xodo onto the finance fleet via Kandji yesterday. Honestly just relieved the silent install didn't fight me and there's no 2gb background updater eating the cpu

of course, one of the directors is already submitting tickets because the buttons are in different places than her 2019 acrobat install. Im just leaving it on read until monday. I don't get paid enough to be a pdf tour guide.

down 50lbs and i actually feel like myself again

been on tirzepatide since april. started at 310, weighed in at 259 this morning. 51lbs gone. don't even recognize myself in the mirror sometimes lol.

the weight is great but it's not even the main thing for me anymore. it's the inflammation. i've had back pain for years and it's just gone completely. my knees don't crack when i stand up. i sleep better. i have energy again.

side effects were manageable. some nausea at the beginning, constipation if i don't drink enough water. i went through oztrim and it's been smooth. they're upfront about the tga stuff which i appreciate.

anyway if you're thinking about it, do your research but also don't wait forever like i did. wish i'd started sooner tbh

Builders that actually made your shortlist?

I've been trying to figure out which builders people in the ACT actually felt good about signing with. Funny thing is, the more display homes I visit, the harder the decision gets. Every place looks nice for the first ten minutes.

I've been keeping a small list instead of chasing every recommendation. Mellross Homes ended up on it after a few people mentioned them and I liked some of their home designs, but I'm still comparing everything before making a choice.

For those who built their first home recently, what builder did you end up choosing, and what made you feel comfortable enough to sign the contract?

considering professional matchmaking after too many low effort situations

i live in the bay area and work in tech. i’ve been single for a while after ending things with someone who kept saying all the right things but never followed through with consistent effort. before that i had a pattern of dating men who were either emotionally unavailable or expected me to do most of the emotional labor.

i’m at a point where i’m no longer interested in wasting time on apps or situations that don’t meet my standards. i’ve been looking into working with julie ferman because i want to meet men who are actually serious and capable of showing up properly. has anyone here gone this route and what was your experience like?

signed my 4yo up for dance and now i'm drowning in gear i don't understand

so my little one has been begging to do ballet for months and we finally caved and signed her up. she's so excited she's been practicing her plié in the living room every day and honestly it's the cutest thing.

but like. i did not realise how much stuff you need?? the email from the studio came with a whole list and i'm just sitting here like. what is half of this. why does a 4yo need special shoes. can't she just wear socks.

i've been googling dance stuff for like 3 days straight and my brain is fried. found this brand Energetiks that seems to have all the things on the list but i'm still not sure what's actually necessary vs what's just extra.

any other parents been through this? what did you actually need for the first class vs what can wait? i don't wanna be that parent who shows up with nothing but also don't wanna spend a fortune on stuff she might lose interest in after a month.

unexpected $2,500 car repair and need same day cash fast

i had a sudden car repair that came out of nowhere this week. the bill is around $2,500 and without the car i can’t get to my job at the warehouse. my next paycheck is still two weeks away and i don’t have any savings left after covering some other bills last month. if i don’t fix it today i risk losing shifts and falling behind on rent and other payments. i really need the money same day to keep everything from falling apart.

i looked into different same day cash options and decided to go with time financing and use their services. they offer personal loans from $1,000 up to $10,000 with same day funding in a lot of cases. the apr ranges from 18% to about 36% depending on your credit, and repayment terms go from 12 months up to 60 months. for example, on a $1,500 loan they show monthly payments around $98 for 20 months at roughly 32% apr, with the total cost coming to about $456 in interest and fees. this feels much better than typical payday loans that can hit 300-400% apr even for short periods. i like that it’s a longer term loan so the payments are more manageable instead of one big lump sum due in two weeks.

i’m thinking this route makes the most sense right now because it gives me breathing room without crazy high fees eating into my paycheck. the process looks pretty straightforward from what i read — apply online or by phone with basic info like income and id, get a quick decision, and funds can hit the account the same day if approved. it also seems like they focus on helping people in situations like mine instead of just quick high-cost loans.

what documents do they usually need for fast approval on these personal loans? and for someone with average credit, how do the total costs usually add up on a $2,000 to $3,000 loan over 18 to 24 months?

thanks for any real advice on this.

anyone else use a reformer for hip mobility?

so I've been dealing with this weird tightness in my hips for months. not pain exactly, just limited range? like I can't sit cross-legged comfortably anymore and it's annoying.

I do all the usual stuff - stretching, foam rolling, yoga. but nothing seems to get into that deep hip tension.

a friend let me try her reformer a few times and I noticed my hips actually felt more open afterwards. something about the resistance and the glide just hit different.

been thinking about getting one for home

anyone here use one specifically for this? or am I better off just sticking with bands and stretches?

My son was glued to the screens. Now he's up before sunrise

My son used to be glued to his screen. Video games, YouTube, more video games. I’d try to get him outside, and he’d groan like I was asking him to run a marathon. It was honestly starting to worry me

After that, a friend suggested that we go watch a basketball game with him. It was nothing much, but I guess something clicked with him that day. He observed how the players moved, their pace, their energy. It had been years since he became truly interested in something without using the controller

A couple days later, he asked me to shoot hoops with him in the driveway. I said yes, figuring it’d last a week, tops…

That was months ago…

He’s still out there. After school, weekends, even early mornings before the sun comes up. I wake up sometimes and see him through the window, hoodie on, shooting alone while the world sleeps. He’s not the most talented kid on the court. But he just… keeps showing up

The problem is, so do I. And my knees aren’t what they used to be

I’ve been chasing his errant shots into bushes, flower beds, and the neighbor’s yard for weeks. I come home exhausted from work, and the last thing I want is to spend another hour running after basketballs. But I also don’t want him to stop. Seeing him passionate about something that isn’t a screen has been the best part of my year

That’s why I’ve been looking into the rebound return system, heard that they are pretty decent. And I think that it wouldn’t just save my back and it would keep him shooting, keep him moving, keep him consistent. Even when I’m too tired to join.

I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. But I’m getting close

Has anyone else gotten one of these? Did it actually help keep your kid engaged? Because honestly, I just want him to keep going and even when I can’t be out there with him

considering moving back to sydney but the coast has me conflicted

moved up here from sydney a few years ago for the whole lifestyle change thing which was great for a while. being near the beach, slower pace, all that. but now my job's been pushing for more office days and the commute is just killing me. not sure if the coast is worth the two hours each way anymore. yeah the waves are nice but sitting in traffic for that long makes me want to scream.

got a place here that i'm thinking of renting out instead of selling cause the market seems decent and i don't wanna lose the foothold. but every time i look into property management stuff i get confused by all the options.

i'm just worried about handing my place over to some big agency thatll charge a fortune and not actually do anything. a mate had his place managed by one of the big franchises and they were useless, took weeks to fix anything. i don't want that stress.

anyone here rented out their place on the coast and had a good experience? trying to figure out if it's worth keeping or if i should just sell and be done with it.

i miss a lot about sydney but i also don't wanna go back to paying 900 a week for a shoebox. coast life is just so much easier day to day. but the job thing is real. decisions decisions. help a confused bloke out

The sterile white walls of standard treatment are so draining

honestly been reflecting a lot on past attempts at recovery and the standard hospital wards are just so brutal. like ur trying to do the hardest mental work of your life and you are stuck under these buzzing fluorescent lights with cold floors. it feels so clinical and punishing

Was looking at options to finally step back into a program and came across eating disorder solutions and its literally set up like a house on a ranch. ngl just seeing that some places actually look like a warm living room instead of a medical box gave me a tiny bit of hope today

it just sucks that the industry standard for so long has been so institutionalized. Feeling safe in your physical environment shouldn't be so rare when ur trying to heal. Just glad the landscape is slowly changing tbh

I finally got the workload I wanted... now I'm struggling to keep up

I’m a lawyer working for a small firm and I had never had any problems with the amount of work assigned to me. For example, most of the time I could finish all the tasks assigned to me well before 3pm. Then all that was left was replying to some emails and surfing the web

That has definitely changed

As I mentioned before, work has been picking up lately, and I am currently flooded with all kinds of tasks: new files, clients calling, deadlines, reviewing documents, and the list could go on. As strange as it may seem, I am actually quite okay with this. I always wanted more responsibilities and chances to develop, but apparently, it takes a while before one gets to that point

The trouble begins when I start thinking about how I will keep up with the growing amount of tasks. There must come a moment when I have to realize that I cannot do everything myself since there is only so many that I can fit in my head

While searching online for various ways to boost productivity, I ran into some solutions like AI for PI law firms. Uusallyy, the question popped into my mind regarding what solutions lawyers use to manage their workload

For those of you running your practice, what really worked? It could be any kind of productivity tool, including software, new approaches to workflow management and note taking, automation and basically anything that has been useful in terms of staying organized and efficient
