It's me again. PCP suggested lymphoma or some type of cancer due to LDH

Hey guys, I'm 34f at 5'5" and 175lbs. I recently was diagnosed with Grave's disease this past March. I started having abnormal urinalysis since March. And abnormal CBC since May after a sharp pain in my LRQ abdomen. I'm being referred to a hematologist/oncologist and worried about some kind of cancer because at first, my urologist said something about a possible bone marrow issue but now after some more tests, my PCP suggested lymphoma due to elevated LDH.

My urine tests are abnormal. CT scan showed several swollen lymphnodes (1cm) in my mesenteric area. No kidney stones and urine culture always comes back negative for infection. My CBC is abnormal. My alkaline phosphatase is elevated.

I have been having stomach pain on my right side, right flank sided pain, severe bloat, random bone pain and intermittent low grade fevers. I am scheduled for a PET scan. ANA tests showed negative for other autoimmune diseases.

Hematology/oncology referral. Someone suggested MDS?

Hey guys, I'm 34f at 5'5" and 175lbs. I recently was diagnosed with Grave's disease this past March. I started having abnormal urinalysis since March. And abnormal CBCs since May after experiencing LRQ abdominal pain.

My urine tests are abnormal. CT scan showed swollen lymphnodes (1cm) in my mesenteric area. No kidney stones and urine culture always comes back negative for infection. My CBC is abnormal, and my platelets have been increasing (currently 554) along with my rbc and hematocrit. My alkaline phosphatase is elevated.

I have been having stomach pain on my right side, right flank sided pain, random bone pain, extreme Charlie horses in thighs and intermittent low grade fevers. Could this be MDS?

Could this be kidney cancer/a kidney issue? Worried sick

Hey guys, I'm 34f at 5'5" and 175lbs. I recently was diagnosed with Grave's disease this past March. I started having abnormal urinalysis since March. And abnormal CBC since May after experiencing LRQ pain and right sided flank pain.

My urine tests are abnormal. CT scan showed swollen lymphnodes in my mesenteric area in my lower right. No kidney stones and urine culture always comes back negative for infection. My CBC is abnormal, and my platelets have been increasing along with my rbc and hematocrit. My alkaline phosphatase is elevated. I've seen kidney issues/kidney cancer can elevate these numbers.

I have been having stomach pain on my right side, right flank sided pain, random bone pain and intermittent low grade fevers. Could this be kidney related?

Very scared I have bladder cancer..

I (34f) had a pap smear in early March 2026. I started urinating frequently, had cloudy urine and I thought I saw some specs of brown in the toilet bowl after urination but I thought maybe it's just dirty stuff in the bowl. My frequency was on and off, and it subsided entirely by April. I got a urinalysis and culture done. Urinalysis showed no blood, but high leukocytes (250). PCP was not concerned.

In May 2026, I started experiencing a pain in my lower right abdomen that radiated into my pelvis and back. I got a colonoscopy done - clear. Transvaginal ultrasound done - clear. And a CT scan most recently. All it showed was enlarged lymphnodes in mesenteric area (where small bowels meet large bowels). I got another urinalysis done, higher leukocytes (500) and no infection.

I just went to see a urologist and started urinating a maroon colored blood with brown specs right as I was giving them a urine sample at the office. I hadn't seen this since (maybe) March.

I asked the urologist what this could be and he didn't dismiss bladder cancer. I am so worried and scared. I'm too young. I am back home from the urology appointment and still urinating the maroon color and brown specs. I have a cystoscopy tomorrow morning.

I need support very badly 🥺

Mystery chronic stomach pain. Losing hope

Feeling so hopeless. How do you guys go on?

January: I (34f) came down with a nasty flu(?) earlier this year. It kickstarted a bunch of weird symptoms like hand tremors, GI issues, insomnia, etc. I was diagnosed with Grave's disease which I am on medication for.

March: I went to get a papsmear at a new obgyn. I had cramping, cloudy urine and the frequency to urinate increased. My arms and legs became very achy so I thought it may have been a weird UTI. PCP did a urine culture and urinalysis. Everything was normal except super high leukocytes in the urine. PCP didn't seem concerned.

May: I developed a sharp shooting pain in my lower right abdomen that turned into a constant dull aches. I can't bend over, or physically exert myself or else it'll hurt more. Acute appendicitis was ruled out. I got a colonoscopy, all clear. I got a CT scan and it showed several enlarged lymph nodes (1cm) in the same area the pain is coming from. I learned it was called mesenteric adenitis. I have been having muscle aches, intermittent low grade fevers, slightly elevated wbc and platelets in my cbc.

And then I did a urine culture and urinalysis again (PCR) and my leukocytes jumped even higher!

What I've had done: CBC, colonoscopy, CT scan with contrast of abdomen and pelvis, transvaginal ultrasound, urinalysis & urine culture

Who I've seen: PCP, GI nurse, OBGYN, endocrinologist. No one seems to know what's going on and is not taking it seriously.

I feel sick. I can't function like I used to. And I'm worried this is either something very serious or something that will never be diagnosed.

Chronic right sided abdominal pain & swollen lymph nodes

About 5 weeks ago, I (34f) woke up to sharp shooting pains in my lower right abdomen that quickly subsided and turned into dull aches and bloating. I have been experiencing dull aches and pains in that region ever since, it even sometimes radiates to my upper right abdomen. I also have intermittent low grade fevers (99°F).

What I've had done:

  • CBC revealed elevated platelets (500, normal is 400) and slightly elevated wbc
  • Celiac disease tested negative
  • Colonoscopy all clear except diverticulosis (no active infection or inflammation), and the GI doctor did note aggregate lymph nodes in the ileocecal area
  • CT w/contrast of abdominal and pelvic - found several prominent lymph nodes along the ileocecal chain, with the largest measuring 1cm in short axis"
  • Transvaginal ultrasound - everything was clear
  • Pap smear - everything clear
  • Urinalysis - no bacterial infection but high leukocytes (500, normal is 0)

What's happening to me? I can't go on like this with the pain and discomfort in my lower right abdomen.

Does anyone have suggestions for internal medicine doctor, gastroenterologist and/or endocrinologist who can help me figure out what's going on?

Hey everyone. I don't really know where to turn to. I've been dealing with some strange symptoms, pain and test results that my current PCP and endocrinologist are brushing off.

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease earlier this year, and ever since then, I feel like I'm living in a broken body. My PCP is very kind but does not follow up any test results or scans (even after 3 weeks). I have to go into mychart, look at them and then ask her questions through the messaging system. I have had to keep track of my symptoms, issues and test results on my own and I have been trying to reach out to specialists to help me out, which I feel like should be the responsibility of my PCP? 🥲

I have had strange bloodwork, urinary, and GI issues that don't really match up with my autoimmune disease, but started after I was diagnosed. So I'm not really sure where to go from there.

So if you have any recommendations for gastroenterologists who can help with complex GI issues (colonoscopy and CT scan clear except for swollen lymph nodes causing me pain). Or an endocrinologist that is good with thyroid diseases who takes symptoms seriously. Or maybe even an internal medicine doctor who can help me piece everything together? Thank you ❤️

Several prominent (1cm) lymph nodes found on ileocecal chain. Worried

Age: 34f Weight: 175lbs Height: 5'5"

About 5 weeks ago, I woke up to sharp shooting pains in my lower right abdomen that quickly subsided and turned into dull aches. I have been experiencing dull aches and pains in that region ever since.

I went to the ER wondering if this was maybe appendicitis, but they didn't do a CT scan since blood tests only revealed elevated platelets (500).

I got a colonoscopy, for unrelated reasons, about 2.5 weeks ago. All clear except diverticulosis (no active infection or inflammation), and the GI doctor did note aggregate lymph nodes in the ileocecal area.

Because I have been feeling the lower right abdominal discomfort for a few weeks, my PCP ordered an abdominal and pelvic CT scan with contrast this past week. Nothing major was found except "several prominent lymph nodes along the ileocecal chain, with the largest measuring 1cm in short axis".

I saw an obgyn who did a pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound, everything was clear.

What's happening to me? I can't go on like this with the pain and discomfort in my lower right abdomen.

Is this Grave's, methimazole or something else? Feeling worse...

January/February - I had all of the traditional and expected Grave's disease symptoms. Was finally diagnosed with Grave's in late March. CBCs and hepatic function panels were all normal.

  • hand tremors
  • muscle weakness
  • racing heart
  • severe anxiety
  • insomnia
  • slight weight loss
  • diarrhea/loose stool 3-4x a day

April - After starting methimazole, things felt better for about 3-4 weeks. Thyroid testing showed my levels significantly dropped. Free T4 was in normal. Free T3 was still slightly elevated. And TSH undetectable. CBC and hepatic function panels all normal.

May - And then it started to go downhill. I started experiencing:

  • bad acid reflux
  • bloating
  • constant lower right abdominal pain (went to the ER and they said there weren't signs of appendicitis so I was sent home)
  • migraines
  • bone pain (not joint pain)
  • pain in my muscles (Charlie horses in my thighs)

Now my CBCs are all over the place. I have consistent elevated platelets, sometimes elevated wbc, and slightly elevated liver enzymes. I was originally put on 20mg of methimazole. My last thyroid testing June 1st showed that my free T3 and free T4 have dropped into slightly hypo territory, and TSH undetectable.

What's going on with me? Is this normal to feel completely different symptoms after starting on medication? I felt like the methimazole was working great for me 3-4 weeks in, but now I feel like trash in a different way.

How do you all deal with scanxiety? Waiting for the results...and spiraling 😭

I've been having constant dull aches in my right abdomen for a month. CBC showed slightly elevated wbc and platelets. My PCP ordered a CT w/contrast yesterday and I have no idea when to expect the results or radiology report. And even if I did get it through mychart, I wouldn't want to see it until my doctor sees it and explains it to me.

How do you guys deal with this waiting? I'm catastrophizing 😥

Found a new lump in healthy breast, should we be worried?

Mom (59f) was diagnosed with stage 3 +++ IDC in her right breast about a year ago. I believe 1 auxiliary lymph node was affected. She did TCHP, had a lumpectomy, radiation and is still undergoing targeted hormone therapy (has 2 infusions left).

She recently had an ultrasound and mammogram, in which they found a suspicious dense spot in her healthy (left) breast. Oncologist wants to do imaging again, along with a biopsy. Is it possible that this dense spot is cancer again that has spread even before she finished treatment? Or is it likely that it is benign? She is scared and I have been trying to comfort her.

I miss the me before Grave's disease

I started to experience bad heart palpitations in December 2025. Thought it was just my SVT acting up. In January, I got the flu. Started to experience hand tremors, severe anxiety, GI issues, muscle weakness in legs, and insomnia. Didn't know what was happening, but maybe post viral symptoms? It got so bad in February that I went to my PCP and GI doc.

Found out I had Grave's disease in late March after testing and scans. Finally started 20mg methimazole at the beginning of April. Since then, a lot of my symptoms have improved, but I still feel...off. I just had a colonoscopy done yesterday just to confirm that there was nothing else going on since my GI symptoms still persist. I get random aches and bone pain. I feel bloated. Acid reflux is through the roof. I've gained weight. The list goes on.

I used to be fit. I used to run long distances as a hobby. I used to have zero GI issues (I was very healthy). But now, it seems like my body is weak, and sometimes I feel so out of control. It probably also doesn't help that my endo doesn't listen to me, and we are rarely even in contact (I have requested a new endo). I feel so overwhelmed and in the dark.

Nothing feels the same. I miss who I used to be.

Has anyone else experienced worse stomach acid and bloating on methimazole?

Hey everyone, I'm about 1.5 months into 20mg Methimazole daily. 10mg in the morning and 10mg at night. About 2 weeks ago, I started experiencing acid reflux almost daily. Haven't changed my diet that much (I have been eating healthier for the past month). I have general stomach discomfort for the past 2 weeks, and stomach bloating recently about 3 days ago.

Could this be a side effect of methimazole? I talked to my endo and he said these are not side effects of methimazole and to go talk to my PCP.

My thyroid levels are improving:

Free T3: 5 pg/mL from 10.3 pg/mL

Free T4: 1.4 ng/dL from 3.44 ng/dL

TSH: still undetectable

Can't sleep because brain doesn't know how to mouth breathe...is this normal? Feeling panic and gasping for air after septoplasty & turbinate resection. Need help

My bf just got his septoplasty and inferior turbinate resection done early this morning. We came prepared with all post-op care and tools. However, my bf has never been a month breather even when he could barely breathe through his nose. He has probably slept 30 minutes since surgery 18 hours ago. He says it's hard for him to mouth breathe and when he does fall asleep, he wakes up gasping for air because his mouth closes automatically and his brain doesn't know how to use his mouth to breathe.

Does this get better? He does not have any stents. Only packing that we need to remove in about 6 hours.

[Chicago, South Loop] Someone left a turtle in the alley behind my apartment 😭

Hi all! When I got home from work this evening, I found a bunch of crap in the alley left by someone who’d moved out earlier today, including this little guy :( I brought it inside since it’s been really chilly today, but I don’t have any of the equipment I’d need to take care of a turtle. I don’t even have any fresh veggies to feed it 😭 Because of this, I honestly feel nervous about even keeping it overnight :(

There’s a local Chicago rescue (CLEARescue) that takes in exotic birds and reptiles, but when I checked their website it said they aren’t able to accept aquatic turtle rescues due to the amount of inquiries they receive in a week. I’m sure it’s still worth contacting them, but in the event they’re at capacity, would anyone be able to take it in?

I also tried posting this in the r/chicago subreddit, but I wasn’t able to since my karma isn’t high enough. If someone would be kind enough to cross post, I’d really appreciate it!

I’m located in Printer’s Row, South Loop, but I’m willing to make a local commute to drop this little guy off at a new home! Please feel free to message me!!

Got a missed call this morning from the hospital I frequent, but a department that I don't go to. I googled the number and it was the department it said it was. I was stupid and just used my phone's call back function on that missed call.

I was met with an automated voice saying that all calls would be monitored and recorded. Then it asked if I was the patient calling. I said "yes", and then it prompted me to say my full name, DOB and zip code before transferring me to a "representative". The representative transferred me over to another department because they didn't see anything on my records, and the next representative didn't see anything either and we just hung up.

The automated voice in the call did sound like the one my hospital uses. But for some reason when I call my hospital, they have no record of anyone calling me.

Is there a way they can use my recorded voice saying my name, DOB and zip code for anything? Should I do anything to protect myself?
