Small Talk

Small Talk

This is how I feel with small talk or conversations that are not going anywhere, although if somebody shares my interests it is a different story.

Mouse-Eared Dean's Teddy

This is a mouse-eared Dean's bear from the 1950s (I think). He is a serious bear, but I think he is also very sweet!

More Mignonettes (Part 1)

A few days ago I posted a photo of my first mignonette, my first love. I will post my other mignonettes maybe once a week. This is part one.

Only the second and the last one have their original clothes, and the first one also has a replacement body, and her eyes are painted (all the others have glass eyes).

My favourite one is the one with the sailor dress as I have always loved dolls with sailor outfits.

What is he thinking about?

Such a pensive little boy...

I wonder what he is thinking about - millet, seeds, cuddles, sunshine?

This little boy will be 17 in August!

Scootles

Scootles is a doll designed by Rose O'Neill in the 1920s and manufactured by the Cameo Doll Company.

I have always loved this toddler and was very happy when I managed to get him at a reasonable price!

Farnell antique bear

I bought this bear a few years ago. He is about 10" tall and I was told he is a Farnell bear, which I believe to be true after checking all his characteristics.

My question is - could he be a larger/taller version of the WW1 pocket soldier bears also made by Farnell?

I tried to research the issue and Google/AI said yes, there were also some uncommon sizes apart from the pocket ones.

Thanks for any info you might have!

Little Grisly Bear

I bought this baby online a few years ago. It's an old little bear from the 1950s. The first photo is how he came to me, but I bought him new clothes too. His face is also cleaner now.

I have many vintage and antique bears, but this is one of my favourite bears for some reason.

My first mignonette

This was my first mignonette (the photo is the photo from the ad, not my own). I love mignonettes. I bought a few more after this, but the first love always has a special place in our hearts... I bought her for a very good price too.

Any idea who might have made her? I think she is French.

Antique doll identification

I had this doll for quite some time. The head is original and marked 3/0, the body is a replacement (fully poseable), the wig is a wig I had (not original).

The marking 3/0 was used by more than one company and it only indicated the size, so I am not sure who made the head.

Any idea? Thanks!

Kobo Clara BW

I am thinking of buying a Kobo e-reader soon (probably in the next 10 days).

I have a Dell laptop that came with a PN350M-BK stylus. It does use MPP, but it's 1.51. Has anybody had any luck with it or do you know if it will work?

Thank you!

So, many accounts are disabled without a valid reason, only because their Meta AI is not advanced or smart enough to distinguish between real violations and false positives. After being insulted by their system, the only way to get support is to PAY for Meta Verified. I refuse to do so out of principle. I did nothing wrong and won't pay to get support.

Support should be free for all users, even more so if it is THEIR fault if an account has been unfairly flagged.

Can they really force people to pay to get support when it is their fault and they should actually apologize and possibly even offer compensation if users had a business and have lost money? And could they be trying to get more people to pay for Meta Verified? Could all be intentional?

There are other huge companies, like eBay, and they all offer support for free, even if they also have eBay Plus, but they still assist customers.

AI Overview also says this (yeah, AI again, but they get it right better than Meta...):

AI Overview

Based on numerous reports, investigations, and legal actions as of early 2026, Meta (the parent company of Facebook and Instagram) is facing intense scrutiny and allegations that its platforms profit significantly from scam ads and fraudulent activities.

Leaked documents and investigations suggest a substantial portion of Meta's revenue, estimated in 2024 to be around $16 billion (roughly 10% of revenue), came from ads for banned subject matter, including adult content, illegal gambling, and scam products.

Key points regarding these allegations include:

Profiting from Scams: Reports indicate Meta has allowed high-risk scam ads to appear on its platforms, sometimes despite them being reported, because they are a significant source of advertising revenue.

Failed Enforcement: Internal documents suggest that Meta has sometimes dissolved or reduced the effectiveness of anti-fraud teams to maintain revenue growth, particularly regarding ads from certain regions.

Imposter and Fraudulent Ads: Scammers frequently use celebrity endorsements and fake brands to lure users into investing in fake cryptocurrency schemes or purchasing bogus products, with thousands of these ads appearing daily.

Resisting Regulation: Meta has been accused of resisting universal advertiser verification measures that could cost the company billions in revenue, even though such measures could significantly reduce fraudulent content.

Response from Meta: Meta has publicly stated they work to protect users, have removed millions of scam ads and accounts, and are partnering with law enforcement to tackle scammers. However, critics, regulators, and users argue these efforts are inadequate given the scale of the problem.

While not a "scam" in the traditional sense of a singular fraudulent scheme, the allegations suggest that Meta’s business model and lax advertising enforcement have created an environment where they profit from users being scammed.
