2023 ZX6R: Is an ECU flash, aftermarket air filter and full exhaust actually worth it?
I have a 2023 ZX6R ABS with a LeoVince lv 10 slip on and stock air filter. I’m considering an ECU flash, aftermarket air filter, and eventually a full exhaust system.
For people who have done these mods on a 2019–2023 ZX-6R, was the difference actually noticeable on the street? I’m mainly interested in:
•throttle response and smoothness
•midrange/top-end power
• how much power you realistically gained
• whether a full system was worth the cost over just a slip on + flash
• reliability or drivability issues afterward
I’m planning to keep the bike for a while, so I’m more interested in a good long term setup than just making it louder. If you got a flash who flashed it? Im considering moore mafia
Do they ever give y’all trouble about parking on the sidewalk at the front of businesses?
I told them these get stolen all the time and all it takes is 2 guys with a truck and you’ll never see it again.
Guy off marketplace offered to trade his CBR1000RR for my ZX6R
A guy on Facebook Marketplace offered to trade his 2023 CBR1000RR with 2,960 miles for my 2023 ZX-6R with about 4,500 miles, with me adding $700 on top.
On paper it sounded like a really good deal, so I rode about 100 miles to Austin to go look at it.
Once I inspected the CBR, I started having second thoughts. The biggest things I noticed were:
• The chain was extremely loose and rusty. This was probably my biggest concern because I would have needed to ride the bike about 100 miles home.
• There was rust/corrosion around the inside of the gas-cap/filler area.
• The exhaust had been cut rather than having what I’d consider a properly installed exhaust setup.
• The rear brake pedal did not activate the brake light.
• The tires looked like they would need replacement fairly soon.
• It had an aftermarket/keyless gas cap and the ignition and rear seat used different keys.
• I didn’t have much confidence in the maintenance history or some of the previous owner’s modifications. Also he didn’t speak English and his dad translated what he could understand…
My ZX-6R has more miles, but I know its condition and maintenance history. I’ve recently changed the oil, brake fluid and coolant, put new tires on it, and installed frame sliders, a taillight and a LeoVince slip on.
I ended up walking away from the trade. My thinking was that 2,960 miles doesn’t necessarily mean much if those miles and the years in between weren’t accompanied by proper maintenance.
I’m still second-guessing it because getting into a CBR1000RR for my ZX-6R + $700 sounds fantastic on paper.
Would you have taken the trade, or do the condition and maintenance red flags outweigh the low mileage and value difference?
ZX6R owners, when did you feel your bike was too slow and you wanted a literbike?
I’ve been riding my ZX6R and I’m curious about other 600 supersport owners’ experiences. Did the bike ever genuinely start feeling slow to you, or did you move to a 1000 more for the torque and effortless acceleration? If you upgraded, how long had you been riding your 600, and was the literbike actually more enjoyable on the street?
I had an older literbike before and it was so much faster, this one kinda feels like a ninja 400…
Slip on exhaust recommendations for 2023 ZX6R?
I’ve had my 2023 ZX6R for 3 weeks now, and I’m looking to replace the stock exhaust. I mainly want something that sounds better without being obnoxiously loud.
What slip ons are you guys running, and what would you recommend?
Is a full exhaust system actually worth the extra money on a mostly street ridden ZX6R?
I know a full system can save weight and potentially make more power with a tune, but I’m wondering how noticeable the difference is compared with just doing a slip on.
Would appreciate recommendations, especially from people who have tried both.
I live in Texas if that matters.
Every ride makes me fall a little more in love with this machine. 2023 ZX6R. 💚
How to flush the coolant on my 2023 ZX6R?
I have a gallon of Engine Ice and a gallon of distilled water, Ive changed my own oil, bled my brakes and installed a new tst taillight. My question is: Is this something simple enough to do on my own and not have to pay a mechanic $100-$200 dollars?
Now I understand why mechanics curse so much and seem so stressed
Changing my oil and bleeding the brakes for the first time on my 2023 ZX6R and realized I bought the wrong sized crush plug, swipe to see image on the left is the original the right is what I bought, this is all very stressful.
Buying a C8 Corvette from Carvana?
For those who have bought a C8 from Carvana:
How was your experience?
Did the car arrive as described?
Would you buy from Carvana again?
Anything specific I should inspect during the 7-day return window?
I plan to have it inspected by a Chevrolet dealer during the return period before making a final decision.
Is $70k USD OTD a fair deal for this 2020 C8 Stingray 3LT?
Looking for some opinions before I make a decision.
Vehicle details:
2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
3LT
Arctic White
White/black interior
10,680 miles
Clean condition inside and out
VIN: 1G1Y82D48L511268
Dealer is asking $64,495, which comes out to about $70,000 out the door after taxes and fees.
I drove it today, including on the highway, and it honestly drove incredibly well. Everything felt tight, smooth, and the car seemed to have been well cared for.
From what I can tell, it’s a nicely optioned 3LT, but I’m still learning the C8 market.
My questions:
Is $70k OTD a fair deal in today’s market?
Does the low mileage justify the price?
Would you buy this, or hold out for a newer 2022–2023 car or a 2LT/Z51 instead?
Is there anything specific I should inspect on an early 2020 C8 before buying?
